    Some massive bellends in here.

    Massively disrespectful to Scotland.

England, Wales and France will probably beat them with bonus point wins

There is some serious d1ckhead posts on this thread. We made mistakes. It happens. Scotland played very well. We broke our balls to win and it didn't work out. Some of the vitriol posted here is disgraceful. All posted by wasters sitting on their arses. Heads up lads. 4 games to go. We were up against 16 men today away from home.

Diabolical performance: embarrassing and I'm afraid you can't chuck away attacking platforms, with that regularity and want to win international matches.

Every year for the past 10+ years from pundits - "big year for Scotland, dark horses etc.". Eventually they'll be right because they say the same thing every year.

    Commiserations Teferi.

I've learnt never to tempt fate...

It was a good comeback by Ireland, but gave Scotland just too much of a head start.

Keith Earls had an absolute 'mare on defence: don't recall him winning a ball in the air, was owned by Hogg et al, surprised he wasn't pulled earlier.

Ireland remain masterful at pick and go or one off the ruck with good ruck clear out, but otherwise the attacking backplay is basically rugby league-like. Jackson came into it in the 2nd 40.

    So the Lions:

Johnny Gray & Stuart Hogg for Scotland (but they were already on the plane)
The Irish props (but they were already on the plane)

Should be a bit concerned: the Irish locks, Heaslip was pretty quiet in the first half.

Fun times seeing how Schmidt responds, it's the games following defeats where you earn your coin as a coacch.

Tommy Bowe is done. Earls can also take a seat. Kearney played well today. Our forwards were a mixed bag.

Earls had a poor first half but I thought he did really well in the 2nd half on and off the ball.

I'd leave that backline unchanged myself although don't like Bowe as a bench option.

Also, maybe this is why you don't play the scoreboard so early in the game. Passed up an easy penalty down 7-0 early in the game to go for the corner, ended up with nothing.
Take the points where you can get them. You never know how many you will need later.

    Embarrassment, the lot of them.

    This post is an embarrassment.

Kearney was ok at best At least Earls know where the try line is

Usual suspects in with absolute glee at our national team losing.

The first half performance was very poor but to start claiming it shows up our coach or that we're always poor is just nonsense.

I'm so disappointed with us losing a game we should have won on balance. I don't know if it means our Six Nations is done but puts us very much on the back foot.

Only positive from today is at least tickets for the England game will be easy to pick up on eBay.

    Can't blame Poite for that

Also can't call the Scots brutal or bums.

They outplayed us, they got a massive lead up and they forced us to make a huge amount of mistakes. Scotland won that game by taking it.

That's not to say Ireland didn't play well at times, but to blame that loss on the referee or claim the Scots are brutal is silly.

You blame the ref if it suits you, it's an excuse, we were awful.

Irish back play was non existent. All Ireland had was bosh and it wasn't enough.

This is our biggest problem imo. We saw a great example of what good back play is in Hogg's performance. Pace and invention.

The lineout in the first half was completely unacceptable from a professional team.

Lost that game in the first half. Best lost his voice when the lineout fell apart and it showed.

Few things contributed to the loss. Scotland were better than expected, we were worse. Lineout was shocking and the backs had a bad day out.

    Poite forgot the offside rule.

We worked hard for our scores but gifted 2 to Scotland from virtually nothing.

Gutted now, I still don't rate Scotland.

I disagree with Pope here. We gave Scotland a massive lead at half time. It was the winning of the game for them. We were never going to keep them under the thumb for the whole half.

Lineout was well worked out and our attack was very poor. We're good at keeping the pressure on and eked out those pens. But we couldn't convert.

Nothing like waiting for a 6 nations for a year and it being done on the first matchday.

Rubbish. Ireland always needed to beat England on the Last day. That could still be the decider

    Chomsky(2017) on the Republican party

"Has there ever been an organisation in human history that is dedicated, with such commitment, to the destruction of organised human life on Earth?"

Once again the Irish team/nation can't live with the tag of favourite going into a match.

Probably the worst 1st of Rugby you will ever see, shambles. So many unforced errors.

Scots were decent but got so much help from the Irish team and Poite. What was the final penalty count in the end?

Can the seagulls calm themselves please. Still a championship to go for.

    Well said - thanks!

We didn't deserve that. Absolutely awful 1st half, and not good enough in the 2nd, but Poite can **** right off. They were constantly offside and on the wrong side of the ruck, and he did absolutely nothing.

    ****ing disgusted.

Poite was a gob****e as always and couldn't consistently ref to save his life but we deserved that. Awful first half, one of the most abject performances i've ever seen by Ireland in the opening 40. And then we completely folded in the last ten minutes, showing trademark Irish bottle. Not one of them was fit to wear the shirt.

An utter shambles. Everyone not named Paddy Jackson should hang their head in shame for the entire week for disgracing the shirt.

He certainly knew where our try line was anyway as he watched the Scottish lads hare past him towards it.

IMO our pack lost us that in the first half, looked like they were believing the hype around them. Totally bullied and gave us no platform.

I'd agree. I'd bring in Ryan and POM myself fitness permitting.

Bad performance for the majority of the game but slightly unlucky not to win. If Henshaw didn't slip it was game over.

Joe is sharpening his boot with a diamond file as we speak.

Better team won, fair play Scotland.

Think Irl were the better team, but Scots played smarter. Cotter won his battle easily. But we have to congratulate the Scots.

We showed in the 2nd half what a good side we can be. Lineout is a serious worry now though. POC, can you make a comeback?

Overall I felt rugby was the big winner today, seriously entertaining game, just hugely disappointing that our GS hopes are gone so early.

Why did we hand back possession with minutes left , why why
Earls was a joke today, subbed O Brien and Henderson too early.
We in a great attacking position and Dillane loses possession, unforgivable
We got to bin this BOXKICK,that a lone cost us today

Dunbars try was a farce. RTÉ etc will waffle on about sexton and Jackson, Murray and wingers but it's just that, waffle. That game was lost up front.

Scotland won't win a GS. Win our remaining games and we're in contention for the championship.

    No heart.
    Men against boys.
Beaten by the better team who wanted it more, no shame in that.
Talks of being 4th in the world etc is pie in the sky stuff.

Nah, we're going to hear how great Scotland are now. Forgetting the fact they let a 21-5 lead slip. They are awful. Italy will still be targeting them as their best chance of a win.
