Grace has tweeted that she apologised to RM, she seems to have gone to ground otherwise though.

I do think people should leave it now. She's still getting abuse if you look at her Twitter. Rosemary got her apology and at the end of the day, that is the main thing. If anyone should be stepping up and taking responsibility/defending Grace even, it should be the owner of Goss.ie but from I've read, all they're doing is sending out bitchy tweets? If Grace considers the Goss.ie owner a friend then she should perhaps reconsider after this ****storm, letting her take all the flack. I agree that what Vogue said was worse but given that Grace has such a huge following and prior to this, Rosemary seemed to like her (leaving compliments on her insta) which is why I think Vogue has escaped most of the flack.
For the record, I never tweeted/facebooked any negativity to Grace, I just simply unfollowed her. Only place I vented my feelings was on here! :D I did send Rosemary a snapchat (as I reckon many others did) as it's not nice seeing anyone upset and she's 100% in my top 3 bloggers.
It's interesting how the top bloggers didn't attend, wonder what they think of this whole debacle?

I'd say the bigger ones have better things to be doing on a Saturday night than attending a nonsense event like the Gossies. Pippa for example opted to meet up with a few old friends instead. I think that demonstrates where the gossies are in her list of priorities. The bigger bloggers seem to be too busy to waste precious free time on it and who could blame them. It was like a local GAA diner dance and twice as messy. Seems to be safer for one's reputation not to go at all.

To be honest I don't get posting negative comments to bloggers pages, if you don't like what they've done or said just unfollow them.

    That hurts them more.

As for the awards do they hold much merit in the industry? I noticed there were some decent non blogger categories too.

I think bloggers and their followers deserve each other. Thhis thread is a nest of poisonous vipers.

Grace has just addressed what she said on snapchat, she said she never meant to offend anyone, that it was just a joke and trying to be funny. She was tearful and said it's horrible to be branded a bully and that she and Rosemary will be meeting up for a coffee later in the week anf everything is fine between them

My girlfriend is a huge fan of some of these ladies so I've been lurking on this thread and feel the need to stick my oar in.

Whatever about my personal opinions on influencers, Snapchatters and people who spend an entire hour of their day watching snapchats...

I feel from a business perspective Goss.ie, Ali Ryan, Vogue Williams, Holly Carpenter (although after her Irish Indo "Dear Diary" attempt she took herself out) et al have shown themselves to be immature and unreliable.

Established businesses will avoid these people in the future as there is now a sizeable minority of informed customers who will react negatively to their involvement in advertising.

Most of all it would show a company that these "professionals" have no idea how to run a social media presence, are not good long term investments and have the potential to turn a brand toxic.

I feel the more successful bloggers stayed away because they possess a business nose which told them that the event, quite rightly, would not be a good thing.

She does seem upset and it seems genuine. This should have happened hours ago as what was annoying people was the absolute silence from someone who appears to constantly snap all day. I said earlier I thought it was just a joke/gor caught out if hand but if she had said the above earlier it would it have gained this much attention. I do believe her comments were just trying to be funny!

She has form for tears on Snapchat when the **** hits the fan for her though. She needs to keep herself out of situations which lead to this outcome for her. It's getting difficult to have sympathy for her time and time again when it's her own doing.

She has form for it as Toasty said, she has said before she was getting abuse from Facebook groups but would never admit from which ones, she alluded to it being her Facebook group, where there was no abuse, she was asked repeatedly where she had recived the abuse from so people could address it, she wouldn't, and wanted to move on, then did a newspaper article about it. She let her "support" group dissolve into chaos, everytime the admins calmed it down, she would pop on and let it stir up again.
Her bladder is very close to her eyes as mammies would say... When the **** hits the fan the tears appear. It would have shown more balls to apologise publicly through SM, not project her emotions onto it and be sincere in her apology.

I think this whole situation just proves the point that Rosemary was making in her post. The whole 'keeping up with the Joneses' attitude that has become a plague on social media (not just bloggers/influencers) and I do think from watching Grace's snaps, she does appear upset, (can't imagine how it felt like for Rosemary but here we are) and I think as she put it, she 'got caught up in the moment'.
In my opinion, I feel like Grace was just trying to be 'cool' just like the 'cool gang'. Her excuse was that she was trying to make a joke, but that's the issue. She made a peer the butt of her unfunny joke in order to 'keep up with the Joneses'

Personally, I thought her behaviour was appalling. I think she's just upset that she got caught out and that her following has turned against her. She's more upset that she was branded a bully and how it's the worst thing she could read about herself. She's upset for her, not for the person on butt end of her joke. That's just my personal opinion

I must be getting soft. I felt a bit sorry for her watching her snapchat and I felt it was a genuine apology. I feel the whole thing needs to be put to bed now.

I must be getting hard in my old age because I don't. I'm sure it'll all die down in the next few days anyway now.

In fairness Grace has apologised to Rosemary and publically now, and Rosemary has accepted and said they are fine. Ali, Vogue and Holly should follow suit- there is no place in blogging/influencing for those mean girl tactics!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,378 ✭✭✭Cherrycola

She's probably upset because she can see how this is going to affect her 'brand' which is now her full time job. Companies may not be so willing to work with her again.
I think she got sucked in to someone else's fight to be honest, and the instigator of that has washed her hands of it and boarded a flight to LA. And in the grand scheme of things it's all very petty. It's a pathetic little gossip sites awards show, where a group of lovies pat each other on the back for their contribution to the blogging world, which is what exactly?! No one is curing cancer, unless that's another benefit of that tea??

There are bigger things going on in the world other than this cat fight!

I completely agree, the 'important' bloggers were noticeable in their absence and it makes them look a lot more business minded and trustworthy.
Pippa o Connor is most definitely trying to distance herself from this bandwagon, she wants to be considered a serious businesswoman and has a brand to protect now.

Definitely time to let it die. Grace shouldn't have said it but there's no need for the witch hunt.

Hopefully a lesson to all bloggers and us regular folk to keep out of other peoples disagreements and allow people to have their opinions.

This should not have gone further than Rosemary and Ali. Marissa, Holly, Vogue, Grace and whatever other bloggers all got involved in what didn't concern them and look how it back fired. They got involved because they wanted to be seen on the "cool" side of the argument. Ain't looking so cool now are they...

Also, Pippa and SJ have greatly gone up in my estimation for not getting involved. Very professional

Same here, totally respect for the ones who stayed away now! I might even add SJ back again! :D

I'd say Marisa is kicking herself for sticking her oar in, considering how it's gone down since.
She came across as a bit of a egjit to be honest

Brendan Courtney just got involved now on Twitter, it should have died long ago but Ali and Goss created all of this by not handling it right.

I'll tell you what, I was sure RMC was going to end up a pariah in the blogger world after her blog post, which shouldnt have been the case, but it's come right back around and now she is coming out of it with more integrity than any of them! Delighted for her.

It was me who attended last night as a small time fish in an ocean of sharks!!!

The night was a shambles, only got dinner at 11pm, the goody bag was grand but certainly nothing to write home about. The money off vouchers are for dublin business so no good to me.

The setup was not made for mingling, so no contacts made but I do know now there is no way I am playing this game. I was horrified at some people's behaviour and the whole debacle you seen today.

Even though I paid for my ticket I may as well been invisible. Others who paid for their tickets were also left feeling the same.

I could go on and on!!

Thanks for your rundown. I'm genuinely sorry you didn't get what you wanted out of it! It seems like you were just treated like bums on seats.

Ali has commented on her snapchat for anyone interested. She should have said nothing!!

Aw wish it had went better for you @keeping it real but I guess at least now you know what it's really like I suppose! We don't really see the reality of blogging but I'm sure you did at this event! Hope you keep blogging for yourself anyhow! Plenty of bloggers are doing alright and stay outta that 'world'!

Thanks guys. It won't put me off blogging by any means, a lot of what I do is for confidence building and improving social interaction so all worthwhile.

This whole saga to me has reflected so badly on Ali and her company. That being said, she couldn't have paid for the level of publicity she has received, good or bad, from all this.
The Gossies seems to be nothing but an ego massage for those who buy into it, and it is after highlighting the cliquey behaviour of bloggers who are creating so little quality content it is laughable.

I think those people like Doireann, who I love to follow, take it all with a pinch of salt and don't buy into it too much.
I feel sorry for smaller bloggers spending time outside of their paid jobs, putting content together, taking pictures, scheduling posts, because it's very disillusioning to see the blogger world descend into this.

With regards to Grace, I think the ironic part of her getting Influencer of the Year, besides the aforementioned reasons, which I fully agree with, is that fact that she was so easily influenced by the mean girls around her last night, and it seemed more important to be in with the crowd laughing and booing Rosemary than taking the higher ground and staying out of it. Her apology to me has only come in the wake of the negativity she has received today, she would not be apologising and crying had she not been so badly caught out in her behaviour.

I would what will happen when Gossies 2018 rolls around, who will be attending?..😂
