Any guesses as to when this will be in stock in stores to walk in and pick one up? I'm out travelling Asia at the moment so no need of one at launch, but I've a Letterkenny shopping voucher with a few hundred euros on it needing spending when I get back in May or so!

Maybe a dumb question, but the joy-con charging grip can be used wirelessly, right? You don't have to have it plugged in while using it?

It looks pretty wireless in the photos there. I'd imagine you have to charge the grip itself, then it can be used to wirelessly charge the joycons.

And April for a general restock of the Switch is what people have heard.

The Nintendo Switch(Grey) is back available to pre order on Amazon UK for those who've missed out. It's £280.

Not interested in this at the minute and probably won't ever be with my Steam and Wii backlog (unless flash carts appear) but I'm just curious as to why people seem to be valuing the hideous mismatched blue and red controller above the grey one?

4 weeks to pay off €400. Bills be damned! :)

    One man's hideous is another man's good un-hideous :p

On a more serious note, when playing 2 player, being red or blue pad will be easier than 'empty space on the left' vs 'empty space on the right'

RUMOR - SELECT SWITCH GAMES CAN OFFER DOWNLOAD PLAY FOR 8 PLAYERS OFF 1 CARTRIDGE

The following comes from an interview with Silja Gülicher, PR Manager of Nintendo for Germany...

It is also interesting that only a single game module is required for local games. Up to eight players can then participate in their consoles without each having to purchase their own version.

While the above is a Google translated statement, the info is confirmed to us by Gerjet, a native German speaker. He read the article linked below and sent us the info. The only problem is, we don't know if this information came straight from Gülicher herself. It certainly seems so, but the interview isn't 100% clear. I'll keep marked rumor until we get confirmation.

Obviously, this feature is going to be on a game-by-game basis. We don't know if any of the games shown for Switch support 8-player download play, but at least we now know the Switch has that feature. Can you imagine 8-player Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with just one cartridge? How about Super Bomberman R? I'd say Super Bomberman R actually makes even more sense, considering the same idea was used on one of the DS entries for the series.

Just be warned if you want it on release day (or a few days after if not using parcel motel). My mate was going to buy it through amazon yesterday but noticed this message on the page.
Note: Please be advised that Amazon has sold through our allocation of Nintendo Switch.

Orders will be fulfilled in the order they are placed as soon as we receive further stock.

It could be April before you get one IMO.

Not known yet. Usually only announce it 2 or 3 weeks before release.

Don't know yet. Spoke to some guy from Henry St yesterday - he phoned me to tell me i might want some accessories with my preorder - and I told him every Smyths store would be doing midnight lauch. I think he said they'd know next week, but i'm not sure.

Anyway, this is a big problem for me. There's a Smyths 5 mins from my house. But there might be a bit of craic at the (presumably) biggest Gamestop launch.

What to do, what to do...

I'm really looking forward to it, though I'll be working on the 3rd of March.... might see about taking it off...
Actually, the better half is off on the 3rd, and has a deep rooted hate of videogames... might be counter productive to be around, looking to spend the day in the company of Link!

If going for Limerick, GameStop in the Parkway most likely won't be doing a midnight launch as they require a minimum of a 100 pre orders to open at midnight due to been located in the Shopping Centre and currently they have 6 or 7 if I picked him up correctly but he may have meant 6 or 7 online pre orders.

William Street would probably be the best bet.

I've preordered in william st. was talking to the manager yesterday while getting res 7

she said she was hopeful that they would be having a midnight launch
as they have enough preorders shes just waiting for the go ahead from head office.

she was also mentioning about the 20% off accessories so grabbed the case and screen protector.

haven't preorder Zelda yet i was hopeful that they would announce a deal
but no sign of that thinking of heading in tomorrow and preordering

I'm in the same boat, Friday is a difficult day to take off with clinic work et al. I think it'll be a 'pick up after work and vanish into Hyrule until Saturday evening' deal for me. That Friday will be a difficult day, clock-watching is awful.

If the demand is there, I don't know why they wouldn't do a midnight launch. Make a fortune.

I like red. I haven't seen it in person yet so not sure how red the red one is.
They sell a joy con set that's blue and red in the other way so you end up with a blue set and a red set. I like that idea.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,431 ✭✭✭MilesMorales1

The red and blue one looks a lot nicer in actual photos rather than those dumb press releases Nintendo released.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,270 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

I'm not mad about either SKU's colours. They're not awful but certainly wouldn't be my first choice. I think I'd prefer it to be all black or maybe a dark green. The red controller isn't a true red either, it's kinda pinkish. For 2 player games, sites have been saying a lot of people will be fighting to get the left Joy-con and you really need the grip strap as the top buttons are kind of recessed as well as making it more comfortable to hold. The grey SKU is the nicer of the 2.

The Pro controller also looks a bit weird, the way the prongs are different from the kind of transparent main body. That's probably for grip as they look rubbery.

amazon france has dropped the switched to 299.99 euros and is doing switch + zelda for 349.99 euro

or which works out to be 368,20 euro once the irish Vat and 9.45 shipping is applied

vs about 393.048EUR from amazon UK for switch + zelda

I'm moving this weekend from a clinical nursing manager post to one in a more admin role, so we'll have to see if I can sneak in some Switch time on the Friday! Attendance Management will have to take a backseat for a day!

Ooh, good avenue for a bit of time off, especially if you've a team that can carry the Switchmas load for a day. I'm a one-man team so it'll be post-work Zelda-ing for me.

I'll be disappointed if I log on here and find people talking about how great Zelda is. Should be spending that time playing.

I'll be a one man band here as well :(
I'm sure I'll find some moments.
My son is disappointed that I'll be bringing it everywhere with me, and so is unlikely to get to play it for a significant length of time!

A look at the back inside and down the slot of the Switch dock.
