I think I'll apply for the 49ers GM position. Nice weather, free into all the games, I might even move in Baalke's old place in San Jose. Going for a snip at under $3.3m.

I'll just draft whoever the boards mock draft suggests. What could possibly go wrong!

Can i be your Offensive coordinator...

You'd kinda feel for Aaron Donald, could waste away his career down there.

Does he have to accept the offer after his rookie contract? He'll get paid wherever he accepts that second contract

I think the Rams can keep him for a fifth year because he was a first round pick (and why wouldn't they?). So Donald won't be a free agent until 2019.

And they will def franchise him for 1-2 years so he's kinda screwed

Completely, I guess if things don't look like improving after next year that he could try and hold out for a new deal or force through a trade or something. If Goff stinks up the joint next year (which he will) they are fairly cooked for the near term future.

The franchise tag and the 5th year option should not be a thing. Players messed up in the CBA there.

For such a brutal league, way too much power is with the ownership/NFL.

Point well made sir, players can't realistically get "paid" until their late 20's so if they're not good they get shifted in and out like cattle on rookie contracts.

For example Dak Prescott will likely be our new franchise quarterback but he's on just above minimum pay grade as he was a fourth round comp pick. Meanwhile our Kicker, punter and long snapper all earn almost double what he gets. In my mind that's crazy (but yes its Jerry Jones of course)

Poor enough home slate really, outside of the division, apart from Green Bay, they've Tennessee, Jags and Jets. Not the most glamorous fixtures.

They don't want glamorous fixtures, they get hammered in those! Those are fixtures they can have a reasonable expectation of doing OK in.

If I was living in Cleveland I'd love to have a season ticket. Live football is so much better to watch than the tv stuff. You get to see so much more of the game.

Do ya think? Not just American Football, but in most sports, I find you get to look at more of the game, but miss a lot of the important moments.

Of course, the atmosphere is the big draw to going to the games.

Depends on where you are sitting but you can certainly take a closer look for example on if a certain receiver is getting open or if the QB is missing open guys or checking out the changes defenses are making pre-snap etc.

Admittedly you do miss a lot but most NFL stadiums have huge screens showing replays of every play so I'd always take a live game over TV.

You get a much, much better idea of secondary play also, and personally I've always found safety the most interesting position in the sport.

I would agree with this I much prefer live games. Having said that when I go to a live game I will always watch the full game after on DVR. Best of both worlds really.

I love the Nose bleed seats and I must be in the minority when I say that. The reason being you can see everything. From the Offensive play develop to the Defesnive side adjusting for it and you get to watch the whole field.

When I go I usually have the very last row as my buddies seat are row 26 in the 300s. Get to stand up the whole game wall keeping wind off your back and you see everything. Can't complain.

The only drawback is seeing a play up close like a fumble or what not but jumbotrons cover that aspect for me.

That guy on NFL Network who's name I can't pronounce is reporting that the Steelers are a bit concerned over Antonio Brown, who apparently values personal stats and glory over team success.

Might be nothing in it, but it's a contract year and it's a reputable source. Tomlin's hard line over the Facebook incident might have had more to it than a one-off offence.

The report mentions he was less than happy after DeAngelo Williams' touchdown on Sunday as he wanted the target. Can't say I noticed it myself.

I think the reporter (Aditi Kinkhabwala) who said it mixed a couple of plays up. He definitely celebrated the touchdown onfield anyway, he had been described as pouting...

There's only so much money to go round. Bell is probably going to be franchise tagged and there's a quite a few of the squad that are due to get deals or big wedges this year including Brown. Not everyone can get what they want...

Some Steelers fans midseason were wondering if Bell was worth the tag and associated money...

Sanchez. Even more so if he gets the Dallas line and run game.

Reports now that Bridgewater is out next season as well.. That hurts the Vikings

Yeah I get that. Things like when the QB throws a floater is missing off tv, you never grasp the difference in velocity that throws are made at watching it on tv.

You don't get to see all the blocks either, and safety play rarely gets tv coverage except for when it's a mistake by one or an interception.

I honestly feel it hurts Bridgewater more than the Vikes, Bradford actually did a good job for them. I was a huge fan of Bridgewater coming out but he has been mediocre to date.

2 years out of the league will make things so difficult for Bridgewater. The Vikes cannot go into 2018 with him as their presumptive starter, if Bradford plays well again this year the Vikes will surely extend him & its bye bye Bridgewater.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,284 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

That might be true but Bridgewater will pick up somewhere and get his chance to prove if he's still got it. Mediocre would still be better than about ten starting quarterbacks I can think of off the top of my head.

Jesus, how does a non-contact injury cause so much damage. I never realised it was that severe.

    http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/news/teddy-bridgewater-injury-update-dislocated-knee-minnesota-vikings-nfl-football-marcus-lattimore/13gslnw0owx0g1600wmloya5zo
This article from last year is all basically speculation but it's interesting. When it was written it had a certain optimism to it, but if he's missing another year it starts to sound like the Marcus lattimore injury they compare it to, and which was career ending. Weird that it was non contact, but from what this guy says it's just "one of those things". Would be devastating for him if it was the end of his career. If the Vikings come out of it with a serviceable qb and one less first round pick theyre very lucky really (better positioned at qb than about half the teams in the league I'd say). Bridgewater, either way, will lose out on millions and millions of dollars. That's the real (potential) disaster.

There was talk at the time that a lineman was on his foot when he stepped back to throw, and then with his foot stuck to the ground, when he made the movement the knee just slid apart.

Vikings didn't want that attention on the lineman, so kept it in house, apparently.

I can see that as being believable, but aside from some local Viking sources on twitter and reddit, I haven't seen anything to confirm it. Interesting though.

It's good that they haven't gone looking for who the lineman was if true, I think Bridgewater had a very good first two years without all too many options (or if I recall pass blocking) ahead of him. I'd say whoever the lineman is, is f***ing gutted enough - players often get inconsolable if they end/threaten an opponents' career on a tackle/block/etc, never mind their own starting probably franchise QB on a team that's been crying out for one for over well a decade (barring Favre's first year). You really have to hope whoever it is hasn't let it get or stay in their head too much if that's how it did happen.

Our linemen are even sh1t in practice.

There was lots of debate among Vikings fans about TB before his injury - I was never a massive fan, although everything I read about him suggests he is a decent lad. I prefer Bradford as a player, but neither QB is going to thrive unless they sort out their OL.
