None and Obama even set a policy that politics must not interfere with scientific research. That was obviously a very good thing.

My current understanding of the situation is that they're basically gagged until there's a political review system in place. Mad situation now and even madder in the future.

I just don't have any sympathy though because only Sanders and Stein campaigned on the environment. And I don't think the relentless attacks that make people feel good are positive.

An hour SNL this weekend dedicated to ridiculing the new President in the middle of his flurry of laws. Should people be afraid of the President's reactions? No. Should they be afraid of Trump's? Yes. Act accordingly.

That SNL show will just cause more divide and more anger. It's not a comic relief type of thing and like a lot of things recently, it's not what America needs. Trump's going nowhere any time soon.

So basically people should lay off trump...

You do realise that an attache attached to the white house contacted the EPA and asked them to remove all global warming references from their website. - That is not normal regardless if there is new Directors pending to be appointed. This was only rescinded because it was exposed by news agencies and someone in the EPA blew the whistle. The white house then rolled back on this.

Thats a vacuum of indecision that is direct orders.. all reported by the AP.

Again I've cut out your complaining about a comedy program that has absolutely nothing to do with the point I am making.

And we're not talking about other politicians. We are talking about Trump, though to very quickly bring it up and drop it again re. the mod note in the OP what you are claiming there is utterly false, Trump's main opponent during the election did campaign on clean energy and climate change - https://www.hillaryclinton.com/issues/climate/

But all the same, you said it's common practice for presidents to put gag orders on agencies during transition, but yet you cannot give any examples of former presidents doing this to scientists. Surely then you agree that this is an incredibly dangerous precedent being set, and one that is simply indefensible?

They're gagged for an indefinite period of time, one I expect to keep trickling over and over until at the very least bills have been enacted that will cause an incredible amount of harm to the planet in the interests of short term gain and privatised profits in areas that members of the Trump presidential office have their own private vested interest in.

And there's the Democrats' failure. The things that will truly count won't be executive orders. They'll be things passed by Congress.

Trump could have been President with no real power if the Democrats did it right. But Hillary's victory fund which was supposed to help other Democrat politicians only supported her. The money should have been spread to help get a Democrat Congress whether she won or lost.

No point blaming other people...Trump is in power the focus now should be on the decision made by him and the republican congress.

People need to be alert, because its all a lose cannon.

For a man once accused by his first wife (amongst others) of rape, to this with his second wife. I'd just love to know what he said to her.

Don't know how many men are accused under oath of violent rape by their first wife myself actually.

Indeed his lawyer (Michael Cohen) actually claimed at the time that a man cannot legally rape his wife!

It's not as if that was the only question mark from the day about how he treats his wife!

I have no doubt that Melanie is delighted to be away from him for a while in New York and I'm sure she'll attempt to make it longer!

On the day of inauguration Donald Trumps first signing of papers was televised live. Those present vied with each other for the pens used by Pres Trump for the individual signings. This is usual practice and pens are considered coveted items. Paul Ryan was given a pen which he proceeded to put down on desk, whereas others held on to theirs. At end of signing Donald Trump lifted pen, returning it to Paul Ryan, before leaving. Paul Ryan replaced pen on table and left. Seemed such a blatent act that I was surprised it was not mentioned. As if Paul Rayan was saying "I want notthing to do with this, I am here only because I have to be" Any thoughts

I did agree and didn't challenge anything you said. I tried to bring the conversation to a topic that I thought was also important.. Anyways I can't be online for like 18 hours so we can drop it. Lunar new year dinners.

Does anyone ever get sick of talking about Trump and just wait to see what happens in the first month, its all I see on my Facebook feed and yet he was voted in.

Paul Ryan not as stupid as some Republicans - he knows Trump is going down in flames at some stage.

You should read through the thread, most of the last week has been people talking about exactly what he has been doing since assuming office, typically followed by attempts from his supporters and others to deflect onto talking about anything else.

Funnily enough, even though he shouldn't be tweeting again, I agree with Donald here.

Chelsea Manning is a piece of **** as far as I'm concerned. Unlike Ed Snowden, who's a hero imo, who made sure none of the info he released would compromise lives, Chelsea Manning just leaked a bunch of **** indiscriminately, which could've endangered many fellow soldiers. She should be locked up for the next 7 years, but Obama thought otherwise.

In 2017, a crack forestry unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government they survive as rangers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire The NPS.

Wait till Wikileaks gets hold of the Golden Shower tape or his tax returns. It might put a strain in their relationship.

say what you like about the efficacy of torture aswel but it works better than giving them a comfy bed and a mug of tea.

also if you actually believe the us arent currently involved in the torture of suspects (either directly or having someone else do it) you're very naive

These three lads are from England, and were held in Guantanomo without trial for years.

Listen to their stories. They're the lads that prick in the White House wants to torture; lads who've done nothing but be guilty of having dark skin and being in the Middle East. No trial, no evidence, no chance to give their side of the story, and yet they should be waterboarded, beaten, and treated like a piece of ****.

I'm not saying there are no terrorists in Guantanomo, but there's many who are not, and if the 'Leader of the Free World' thinks innocent people should be tortured, we have to look at ourselves and say 'what the **** is happening?'.

Whilst the things that Trump is signing off on seem weird I am thinking that most of them don't really matter.

Surporessing EPA from publishing science, there are plenty of other scientists which will do it for them and then the EPA will be asked to respond.

No donations to pro-choice foreign groups, fine, just buy thousands of trees from a garden center who's owner just happens to given millions to a pro-choice charity. (this is just a simple example, I don't mean that all funds needs to be used to buy trees!)

Torture, yes it will be allowed, but the CIA have even admitted that it is at best useless and possibly counter-productive so why bother.

He is just playing to his base and will shortly fall back into the near nothingness (from a public POV) that most politicians do most of the time. Congress will get on with fighting with each other and he will become bored with basically having nothing to do except for flying around.

I don't think you can really continue to put this down to election hubris. Campaign is over, he's appointed the team to implement his plans and he's ploughing on.

I assumed it was playing to an audience but now it looks like playing to his ego and playing his own game.

It's fairly clear the ranting we saw in the campaign is just going to continue into his presidency.

    Unfortunately, this is for real.

Hell no, she's trans, and to them that signifies a rejection of one's "duties" as a man, like making sure your wife stays meek and unable to question you.

Lots of them too, actual video evidence of it too. Obama didn't have a clue what he was doing regarding the military.

And? So what, he is gone.

    So the answer is torture?
