Okay, I just looked up prices on smyths. I am not getting it day one 100%.

    330eu just console.
    89eu 2 more small controllers.
40eu for that dock to make a proper controller.
65eu one game that I don't even really want.

So 500eu for proper setup for all 3 of us to play and with only 1 game. I am out.
I am actually looking in to getting wii u ( again) better and have all those couch multiplayer games for 3-4 players.

When monster hunter and fire emblem out i will look in to switch again.

Hope ye all have deep pockets.

Remind us how much the Scorpio will cost you?

It really seems that you're only here to troll, unlike others that seem to actually have something to contribute to the discussion, so cease immediately please.

Yeah, this is the most disappointing thing about the Switch announcement to me.

The tablet looks great. The dock is great and the ability to "switch" is brilliant". The joy-con controllers will be great IF they are actually comfortable to use.

The games are just so uninspiring, I have to say.

I am 90% convinced that Breath of the Wild will be 2017s game of the year.

ALL they really had to do was throw in a surprise launch title that was one of their big names. Give the people a quality racing game in F-Zero or a quality FPS in Metroid (or both) confirmed for release and then a larger roster of new games promised into 2018... Kirby, Star Fox, Smash Bros, Mario Kart.

Announce a proper Pokemon game coming soon based on the recent Sun & Moon title. Pokemon Star or something, I dunno.

Given the bad press around the Wii U they should have been going all out to show that there are loads of NEW games that video game fans can go crazy over that will only be available on Switch.

We already knew there would be a new Mario at some point and a bunch of just OK games that use the new controllers and functions. It's just not very exciting.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe just seems like a massive disappointment to me. Couldn't they at least go for Double Dash - Remastered instead?

Mother 3 - Remastered. Super Mario All Stars HD. Paper Mario -The Thousand-Year Door remake. If you are just going to have old games on the new console then why not something like that? Why Mario Kart 8?

Even Skyrim is just "bleh". Imagine if it was Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remastered instead? Or Morrowind - Extended Edition or something.

Wait that thing that turns it into the controller for home use doesn't come with it?

Yes it does. Those are the joy cons. It doesn't come with the pro controller.

It does come with the console, but it's just a holder for them. There's a separately available one that charges the joy cons too. I think ShadowHearth was referring to buying a separate one, as he'd be buying additional joy cons too.

I want a major announcement to be made at E3, but Nintendo are so unpredictable. That's the sad part about it.

I remember buying the N64 and looking at the release titles and realising that the there was more of a choice of different coloured controllers than games.

Have you ever bought a console on day one? What did you get and how much did it cost?

Looking at PS3, XBOX 360, PS4 and XBOX One launches here and I'm feeling like the same could be said about all of those.

True, but I didn't really like it when I bought it first time round. I had got so use to 2D games over the years that it took me a while to get use to 3D games. :o

I will when there is price for it ;)

However I doubt they'll be charging me extra for a proper home console controller.

Simply highlighting that the console is very expensive for its offering and is selling loads of other items that should come with it already is not trolling.

By The Way, The Joy-Con Grip Bundled With Nintendo Switch Won't Charge Your Joy-Cons
You'll need the "premium" version, of course

Just when you thought the cost of owning a Switch couldn't get any higher, allow us to bring to your attention the fact that the Joy-Con grip that ships with the console doesn't actually charge your Joy-Cons when they're attached - you'll need to invest in a more advanced grip, which costs £27.99 in the UK.

The grip which is bundled with the machine is simply a piece of plastic into which the two controllers slot. The premium model is made from a different plastic and has a USB port allowing you to charge the Joy-Cons. There are a set of lights on the underside which show how much charge they have left.

If you don't have the premium grip and want to charge your Joy-Cons "out of the box", you'll have to have them connected to the Switch itself while it's docked. This means that potentially when you first get your Switch console, playing on the TV won't be an option as you'll have to dock the Switch (with Joy-Cons attached) to charge them fully. On the positive side, each Joy-Con has a 20 hour battery life so you shouldn't need to top them up a lot. It takes around 3 hours to charge a Joy-Con fully, according to Nintendo's Japanese site.

The console isn't overly expensive for a launch console. Even the recent handhelds 3DS, PSP and Vita it's approx €70 more. For what's being sold as a hybrid it's not outrageous.

The extra controllers etc yes, they are on the pricey side, but realistically GameStop/Argos etc were charging 65-70 for additional Dual shock 4s and Xbox one controllers until recently. Actually still Argos have a gears of war 4 Xbox one controller for €82 quid.

In the box you actually technically get two controllers (joycon split) you get the ability to play multiplayer games out of the box. I can't think of any other console that gave that new on release. An extra joycon would equal 4 (technically again) controllers for 4 player bomberman. How much was any other launch console with 4 controllers.

Think people need to relax a bit. We all know the switch will have bundles/discounts after release. It's a new release console. It's never, ever cheap to be an early adopter.

You have to charge a controller before using it? :O those bastards. Missing the fact MS requires you to buy the play and charge kit for Xbox one controllers unless you want to use two AA batteries.

That is correct. Its 3 of us, me, misses and a little girl. We want to have some proper couch multiplayer gaming now. So I woukd need to get extra controller. I could get away with pro controller in a way, but even that is 80eu.

I really don't want to sound like a downer, but I am really disappointed. Not even in the hardware, but pricing and launch titles. Sorry, if someone found me trolling. I was really looking forward to this and I planed on getting this first instead off new xbox and ps4 pro.

As for comment on "did I ever bought, consoles on launch".
Yes I did, I have/had every single console of 2 generations amd almost all of them were on launch. Damn I am on my 4th 3ds. One bought on launch and traded in due to lack of games I am interested and this year I bough new 3ds and new 3ds xl!
When I got ps4 on launch i payed around 450eu, but I got console, 2 controllers, camera 2 games I actually wanted to play. It had more games I was interested in to follow.
Xbox pretty much same, i got it purely for forza games.
Where now I can't justify 500eu price tag on something that does not have even games I want to play. At my 30s I am finally matured a bit ( not much) and don't buy all new gaming tech, just because hype/new.
I still like switch, but i will hold off until monster hunter and fire emblem is out. Then I am all in, even if it's only for those 2 games.

If the joycons have a 20hr battery life and take about 3 to charge, why the fuss with the Pro Controller? Just stick them back onto the Switch and let them charge when you're not playing surely? I don't know too many people who take 20hr gaming sessions

Which console offers a second controller for no additional cost, which is what ShadowHearth was listing...?

    Second, how about first.

The pro controller should be boxed with the Switch since its being marketed as a home console/portable. Especially with its price.

Which dock is the 40eu one? The charging one? The non-charging one comes with it to make a proper controller, the charging one isn't much of a problem at all unless you'll never, ever have it docked.

But there is a controller in the box. Two joy cons.

You buy 2 more joy cons for 90eu, so technically you got 2 more extra small controllers for small games, but if you want a second, full pledged controller with dual sticks and all, you need to buy that dock thing, that it slides in to make fully functional controller, that dock is 40eu.
I always buy my consoles with at least 2 controllers. That's the strength of a console - couch multiplayer.

Not sure there is a fuss over the Pro Controller (other than Failsafe thinking it should be included). I wouldn't have expected it to be included since you already get the Joy-Cons + grip and no other console comes with a second controller at launch (that I can remember).

Speaking of controllers - was there not a mention ages ago that the Wii-U Pro Controller would be compatible? That might save folk a few quid if they want a standard controller (and a d-pad).

Everyone complaining of the price is "oh 330 for the console and 70 for a game and 70 for the pro controller ehh 500 for a launch console no thanks"

Was it confirmed if there are analog shoulder buttons on the controllers?

Only certain games will be functional with the a single Joy Con surely. I'm sure MarioKart will be fine but even Fifa is quite involved, button wise.

That is true, but I'm sure they can adapt some things. Probably 1st party stuff more than 3rd though.

Not everyone, just me. Let's call a spade, a spade here.
I just don't see how i personally can justify buying it for 500eu on a console which does not have a single game I want. If they would launch q brand new monster hunter game on launch i would be in smyths or gamestop shouting: shut up and take my money.

It's my personal point of view, but if someone sees the game they really want to play and can afford to buy it, then please more power to them! I am haply for them!

Technically you do get 2 controllers in console for 330eu, but those only good for mini games. I don't really think you will be name to properly play splatoon with just two joy-cons. That arms game looks pretty cool, but again, to play it with friend you need that proper 90eu second set of joy cons.

Of course you can. It's similar to the Wii U game pad. Price for me is 410, console + Zelda + case. Xbox one had not one compelling exclusive at launch, neither PS4, both were expensive than the switch.

Yep and I'm sickened, actually there ya go. One thing Im genuinely disappointed about with the switch, no real triggers on the Wii U pro controllers and now in turn thats probably the reason they ain't compatible.
