The accessory prices are coming in. Missed the Pro Controller price. The Joy-con is $50 each, $80 for a pair.

    The dock is $90.

$69.99 for pro controller, $49.99 for one joy con, $79.99 for 2.

No idea if the WiiU Pro Controller is going to work with the system.
Hopefully it will, and it'll keep the prices down.
My third party WiiU Pro Controller will work then, save a few bob

    69% Pro Controller
    49$ JoyCon
    79$ Pair JoyCon

Probably explains the high price. 2 Joycons with All wii motion stuff and HD rumble must be costly!
Surely 299$ will be 299e here no?

The price of the Joy-Cons and individual parts, Dock etc could be a problem. Prices in the US seem quite high

    Dock $90
    Joy-Cons $80 for 2
    Pro Controller $70

The Joy-Cons are going to have to be really good with that price.

Apparently online subscription comes with monthly free NES or SNES game, which is ok but not great, but SNES games will have a new online multiplayer, which could be cool!

The Inklings are in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Out in April.

    Hello, is that left-field?

I see you're coming out with a new iteration of Street Fighter II on the Switch.

    http://www.capcom-unity.com/harrisony/blog/2017/01/12/ultra-street-fighter-ii-is-coming-to-nintendo-switch

Might explain the Hori stick, in case it gets picked up by the competitive players, but the only new characters they're adding are Shin forms, which generally get tournament banned. It's just Super Turbo otherwise.

With the whole lack of info on specs, cart details, port details etc. With specs Nintendo have never given them so that was never going to happen. I think everything else will filter out in the next 24 hours.

Also, the boxes look like ever so slightly wider PSP boxes to me

I'm liking the red spine of the boxes too

The pricing is, on reflection, comparable to both the current PS and XB controller prices.
Plus, third parties will bring that price down.
I'd say a portable version with no dock is inevitable, drag that price down to 3DS:XL levels.
I'd be interested to see what else EA and Ubi are bringing.
No sign of Beyond Good and Evil 2 either, despite educated guesswork suggesting it would, given the news that the game would be getting a physical release exclusively for the Switch format, for a time anyway.

    No Metroid either...

The price is too high for the Switch. It's roughly €325 when converted from Sterling and you just know it'll be rounded up. €330 if we're lucky but more likely €350. It's not mass market friendly. And if the rumours are true it'll be another €50 for us to buy a decent memory card. And does it come with a game? Please don't say 1-2 Switch.

Missed the presentation myself, does that price include the dock and Zelda do we know? What were the launch games?

Afterbirth+ is getting a boxed Switch release?!

Also, Disgaea 5 is a launch title.

The howls from left field continue.

Just woke up but my immediate feeling is that they've priced it too high. You're going to be looking at €400 with a game here, and €460 with the pro controller, which I'm guessing everyone will want.

A memory card, which again everyone will want, will bring that up to €500, which looks awful expensive when compared to the PS4 and Xbox One right now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,099 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Confirmed: It only has 32GB of onboard storage. That's more money to fork out.

The Switch, a memory card and a couple of games and you're looking at probably near €500. Though we probably won't need a memory card immediately.

The battery life is going to be sure in real usage.

32gb is too small alright, although micro sdhc cards are pretty cheap these days for pretty big storage.

No Metroid, no F-Zero, no, Animal Crossing, no Beyond Good and Evil 2 and no Smash Bros :(

    Mario Kart for April.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: With Nintendo Switch, fans can enjoy the definitive version of Mario Kart 8 anywhere, anytime, even with up to eight friends in local wireless multiplayer. All your favorite tracks and characters return from the Wii U version, plus all DLC tracks and characters, and new characters join the roster, too: Inkling Girl and Inkling Boy from Splatoon, as well as King Boo, Dry Bones and Bowser Jr.! Plus, Battle mode has been revamped and includes Balloon Battle and Bob-omb Blast, with new courses such as Urchin Underpass and Battle Stadium, and returning ones like GCN Luigi’s Mansion and SNES Battle Course 1. Players can now carry two items at a time, including new items returning from previous Mario Kart games such as Boo (the item-stealing ghost) and the Feather, which gives players a high jump in Battle mode. Players can even choose to use a new Smart Steering feature, which makes driving and staying on the track easy for novice players and kids, even at 200cc. Play in TV mode in up to 1080p. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe launches in April.

This will save a lot of tears and fights in my house!
