Hi guys, I'm heading to Lambeau for the Giants game on Sunday. It's my first game so I want want to make the most of it! Does anyone have any tailgating experiences they can share.. tips etc

Checking the weather, it's looking like -10c 😳

Weird situation we have going in in Indy.

Rumour are rife now that Chuck Pagano may lose his job. On Monday, Chuck called an unscheduled press conference, only to appear and say nothing, in that he has not met Jim Irsay at all, which would be highly unusual for a coach not to have a meeting with the owner at the end of the season. Irsay, who is very active on social media has been heard of in days (not even in the building), with rumours that he is trying to seek out a potential replacement (if he can get a better HC).

Then we have another set of rumours that Peyton could be joining the front office too. The hold up in talks is that Peyton wants an ownership stake in the Colts franchise.

I suppose this is Jim Irsay, nothing is ever conventional with him. Something is going down anyway.

Long John's will be the best investment you make all weekend you lucky git! No seriously I scoffed at the thought before I moved to Toronto... and then the insides of my thighs bled on my second day there (though it was more -25).A good paid of long Johns make the nost insane difference, or even tracksuit bottoms under the jeans if you want to use a cheap and quick fix.

Long Johns are essential in the sort of cold that the US gets. I priced up going to Lambeau the other night when I saw that there were still tickets on sale but couldn't justify it, especially with the three hour bus trip from Milwaukee I'd have needed.

    Enjoy :)

Those were tickets on direct sale, not re-sold season tickets.

    http://www.packersnews.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/fans/2017/01/03/packers-giants-tickets-available-prices-down/96110592/

Flights were coming in at about €950 which I couldn't justify. Half of that and I'd have had to have a serious thought.

BBC did a documentary there (some Lahndahn 'innit bruv' gobsh*te who made an absolute knob of himself throughout) and it didn't seem it at all - the northern rural parts of the US are apparently closer to rural Canada (very laid back bunch) than the 'redneck' stereotype you'd hear about in the southern ones.

I thought the guy did well in that documentary. They weren't pitching the show to NFL fans, it was prime time BBC One and was pitched accordingly.

He didn't have a strong accent either. He was London but hardly one of the Mitchell Brothers.

The town looked like a great place to watch football. I'd love to get there at least once.

That is true, but I just thought he came over as an incredibly ignorant knob while the guy showing him around and his family came over very well from what I remember.

I have access to Lambeau tickets, I've always just assumed getting there and hotel would be the bones of €1,500. My problem is I have a wife who has plenty of other plans for that kind of money...

Saw the documentary and enjoyed it. If only because it gave a new view of the stadium, one you don't get too often during games, when he was going past in the taxi and you see just how vast it is with residential housing in its shadow.

Thanks beefy - thermals have been purchased! Staying in Appleton, 30 miles or so away. Booked a seat on a bus to GB with a bar who runs transport for games so hopefully a bit of craic!

Haha long johns packed.. let the lucky git aspect flow!

The closest comparison I have is when it got to -8 or whatever here in either 2010 or 2011.. standing in bleachers for 4 hours is a whole different ball game I'd imagine!

Cabelas do some great microfibre long johns and usually only about $25 really light and really warm I bought them 10 years ago and still use them in New England. Bass Pro shop do them also. Cant remember the brand off hand.

I'm assuming it's the same 'cold' as Toronto - surprisingly nice, at least if it's sunny and you're fully wrapped up. Also for the weekend in general once you get indoors you are warm within seconds because it's a dry cold, I'd take that over the Irish 'soaked to the bone marrow' winter weather every time. It also gets the morning after hangover head off of you in no time because the air is so crisp. That's if it's still and sunny, though. Cloudy and windy... god help you!! :p

I've never been to Lambeau but I have friends with season tickets. One of the funny things about the winter there is that the seating is in long benches. And because a lot of their fans are absolutely massive, cheese-filled beasts, and are wrapped up in puffy jackets, if you are seated near the end of the row there's a good chance there just won't be space for you to sit. (I can confirm this is an actual issue that comes up in South Bend as well). So arrive early and stand your ground when the buttock real estate becomes more heavily contested. Also I'm told that staying in Appleton is definitely a good idea, supposed to be a nice place, whereas Green Bay, outside of the stadium, is quite obviously a terrible, bleak pit of despair with absolutely no redeeming features whatsoever.

I've been in Soldier Field on cold days and if you're in the upper tiers, it's no joke, but the Green Bay fans are a tough, good-humoured crowd, the misery is part of the fun of the whole thing, and you're all suffering together. A few beers and a few brats, you'll be grand.

    Realt
Might be hitting Dallas in September or October
What's a game day in Jerry world like??
How much for tickets parking etc
    What's the tailgating scene like
Failing that we might go to Austin and take in a Texas longhorns game? Any experience there??
