Just got an S7 edge but haven;t started using it yet, waiting to get a case first, thinking the Spigen Neo Hybrid as this is what i've used on my S5 for the last few years and can't fault it.

Anyway, the internet seems to be agreement that you can't use a tempered glass screen protector on the S7 edge with a case like the Spigen. So I'm wondering if you can get away with using just a basic plastic screen protector with a case?

I see, at least with a non-glass protector, you have the option of being able to cut bits off the edges. Why did you remove the screen protector though if you don;t mind me asking. I know that plastic protectors tend to get grubby over time, which in fairness doesn't happen to tempered glass protectors

Yeah thought so..not sure what I'll do, I really don't want to go without some protection for the screen. I may just get come cheap screen protectors off eBay and change them monthly even if its a pain.

I've had the s7 edge now for months and tbh I use the edge panel all the time!

I never activate it by accident..

Surprised at some of the comments regarding the edge function, I quite like it

What do you mean turn off the launcher?

You can change it for others you may have installed by going to settings - applications - default applications and home screen.

    dm verity verification failed...

    failed to mount cache cahce/recovery

    etc etc

If I bring it back will three give me a new one or a refurb or send my phone off to be fixed? & are they still properly waterproof after being opened to be repaired? Only have it probably a month or a bit more now

Sent it off to be fixed. Still waterproof. S7 already went for repair.

Touchwiz? Just click on "always use" if it comes up again when you press the home button.

Can someone tell me how you enter letters in the Samsung dialer when entering an unlock code.  I have numbers and each one has 3 letters on it.  Doesn't seem  to be any way to access them ?

Maybe they're just there as a guide when you have those style of phone numbers that spell words, call 1800 GALAXY!

Does anyone want to buy a unlocked S7 Edge with the Screen needing to be replaced?

I'd say that's what it is.
Flaccus, you would need to do 4 file flash in Odin when changing CSC which will wipe the phone.

Guys has anyone found a way of moving Oculus apps to the SD Card?

I've got the adoptable storage working but it's still showing the SD card as a separate entity and there's no way it will give me the option to move any VR apps to the SD card.

It's an absolute pain in the ass because the VR apps are HUUUGE and my internal storage is 99% full so any time I want to download a new VR app I need to uninstall one first.

Doh, I didn't need to enter letters after all. Just no's to do the unlock but the code was formatted badly.  Thanks.

My friends edge is from Meteor and on an old August security patch with no updates.   He has it unlocked now and is on Vodafone.  He wants to flash BTU so he can updates quicker.  Last time I flashed BTU was on a note 4 and I only needed to flash one code (AP) in odin.  Then android set the CSC correctly after I cleared cache and data in recovery mode.

So for the S7 edge can I do the same or do I need to flash all 4 files ?

    Thanks
<edit>  Found a useful post on how to do this http://www.sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30800

Anyone recommend a decent screen protector for the S7? I've gotten some tempered glass ones from adverts.ie but they don't cover the whole screen. And I've gotten some of those PET ones from ebay but they scratch even quicker than the screen itself! I know it's difficult to get one with full screen coverage so what's the best one out there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,972 ✭✭✭Flaccus

Not what you want to here but I honestly they don't think any decent tempred glass screen protectors exist. Whether it's the flat or edge model S7, they all have what's called 2.5D glass which has a slight curve on the sides and interferes with getting a good fit.

So manufacturers either make glass protectors that cover the screen fully using a slight border around the edge of the protector. But these typically don't stick very well, and often interfere with the touch sensitivity i.e. have to press harder on the screen to register clicks, air gaps between the screen and protector causing weird noises when you press. Then there are ones that don't cover the screen fully but suffer from a halo effect along the edges (due to the 2.5D glass) and typically attract dust and grime along the edges.

This would be the premier glass protector and I found it crap. Interfered with sensitivity and there was air gaps I couldn't get rid of. The replacement was the same and I am pants at putting on the non-glass as I always end up with bubbles.

I have been using a Spigen Curved Crystal Screen Protector on my S7 for 6 months now and find its a good fit and easy to apply.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,535 ✭✭✭Zonda999

I've just got an S7 edge and have waited for my case to come before activating it. the case is the Spigen Neo Hybrid. Is anyone here successfully using a case like the Spigen as well as a tempered glass screen protector?

I've read conflicting stuff online as to whether this is possible but bottom line, I don't think i'd be confident using the phone without any protection for the screen so if that means using some crappy plastic screen protector that doesn't cover the edges then so be it. I'm going to try and keep the phone for two years but I still want to try and protect the residual value of the phone as best as I can

I am using a Spigen Tough Armor on my S7, my second phone with a Spigen cover. Personally I think it looks better than an Otterbox which I have also used on 2 phones.
