5.11 mies easy tonight. Decided against the lsr today as still some soreness in my "hip".

Really nice night for a run . Loved it.

    4.14 miles @ 9.41 with 6 x 15 second strides.

My fastest run since i started marathon training last june .my last 2 miles in 8.49 and 8.53 . happy with that.

My hip is still a little sore all the time, its sorer when I press on it but no worse when running, thinking it should be ok by now if it was just an over stretching so it's something for me to keep an eye on.

Looking forward to jingle bells now. easy running for the rest of the week.

    6.2 miles tonight @ 10.50 pace

I took this one nice and handy up through the rivervally park and a loop around swords, Used the headlamp from the marathon bag, it worked a treat, really bright.

Really enjoying my runs again , not that I didn't enjoy the marathon training, I did, but there's something really lovely about running just for the enjoyment of it.

My marathon tag arrived today ,I didn't know we got one of those so it was a nice surprise, My Jingle Bells race pack arrive too so i'm all set to go on Saturday.

Hip is still sore but not a big deal at the moment, my Pilates instructor is also a sports therapist so I'm going to mention it to her Thursday see what she thinks.

    3.16 miles @ 10.09 pace

This was to be my daughters 28 minute c25k session but she was feeling good at 28 and wanted to try for the 5k .

She was delighted to hit 5k in under 32 minutes . We have plans to do some park runs and possibly the race series and dublin city marathon together next year all going well.

I think she'll be a lot quicker than me but gonna enjoy running with her until I can no longer keep up. :D

Pilates class tonight . Looking forward to that.

Thanks BG .She's a chip off the old block when she decides to do something so I expect that she will keep at it.

She wants to get under 30 minutes before the end of the year . We're targeting a parkrun for that . Most likely st annes near the end of the month. I'm very proud of her .

I'll be there Saturday to give it my version of a blast all being well.

Ideal conditions for Jingle bells this morning , I really enjoyed the run but was miles off a pb. That doesn't really surprise me I had though I'd lost some pace since the summer, now its confirmed. On a plus I did have a kick at the end that even the MC noticed  , thats a first for me.

Really looking forward to the gradutes plan and getting that pace back if possible.

    watch time splits
    1 @8:21
    2 @ 8:33
    3 @ 8:09
    .1 @ 7:13

    5k @ 8.19 pace in 25:53

Edit : 26.25 official time, no way my watch was that far out so I'm assuming that's gun time, I started my watch on the line and was over the line a few seconds when I stopped it.

They've added the chip times now to the results if you want to check that against your own watch's time.

Still the same for me if Im looking the the proper place the downloadable spreadsheet, TBh Im not all that bothered, I know my watch time is the correct time , give or take a few seconds, Distance matches up too 3.11 miles .

    I wasn't near a PB , had I been I would be annoyed.

EDIT see my chip time there now at 25:53 exactly my watch time .

Very nice run, TM. I was exactly the same as you with losing some pace after my first marathon, but it will come back and you'll be stronger than ever with a few months of speed training under your belt. Great work today and very nice splits with a good strong finish!!!

Well done today TM, last mile was your fastest which is a great sign. Tom Brennan 5k on New Years Day for another stab at it. Bit of specific speed work and you'll take chunks off that time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,080 ✭✭✭✭Maximus Alexander

Good work, glad you enjoyed the run. I'd say most of us graduates have lost pace since the summer (I know I got a PB but that's because mine was from a year ago).

Cheers Tang, Will have a look at that, Will have to go easy on the turkey etc if i do, more so the etc.

I need some speed work for sure but I knew that before today. I probably need to learn how to suffer too, that's something that won't come naturally to me.

Did you run today? I would have liked to say hello in person.

I did, 16 secs slower than my PB but delighted with my run. No more than yourself I have little or no speed work in the legs, last mile was my quickest to. Would have liked to say hello to but had to make a quick exit as my missus was running to and we had to be home to let childminders go.

Nicely done, glad you enjoyed it. I've definitely lost whatever speed I had before the marathon as well. It'll come back before too long!

Thanks TG, My pb was nearing the end of the 2015 Graduates plan which I was on from January to June this year, I was in good shape then.

I was fairly confident I was slower now than then so that's no surprise . I'm equally determined that barring jnjury I will get back to where I was on this years plan as Myles Splits is the creator of both, most likely the same plan.

You will :) lovely to see you again today, tang is right about that race on Jan 1st, its very fast course but then 5K's are 10 a penny and you've loads of time to work on tumbling all your shorter PB's.

Couch 2 5k session today with my daugher. She wanted to try to run the 5 k under 30 mins . She only told me this when when we finished .

She hit 5 k in 28.45 so what I expected to be an easy run turned into a decent workout.

She's flying, well done to her!

She's flying, well done to her!

She is max . Instead of it just being me helping her I think she'll be a benefit to me too. I wouldn't have been running 9 minute miles today but for her and I really need to start pushing myself at least one run per week.

Congrats to your daughter T. Did I meet her yesterday on the way to the race start? You will have some nice competition for JB 2017 :D

The hip that's been niggling me for the last 2 weeks is really bothering me today so no running for me. Going to take it day by day for now to try sort it out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,006 ✭✭✭✭The Muppet

No running since Sunday last and things seem to have settled,

Just in from Pilates, we had a good session so if all is good tomorrow I plan to get out for a few easy miles . Park run on saturday, again easyish is on the cards.

Good to hear TM! I think I am finally motivated to get back out regularly, need to make space for xmas :-)

Great to see your daughter doing so well already! When is she starting the log :-)

Thanks tony . Good to see your motivation returning . I can't wait to get going on the plan . Starting the 30 day s&c this weekend too . I'll be divorced if I don't get back into it soon .

I'm really chuffed about my daughter at 4 weeks in she's doing well. She rang me this evening to say she'd just done a 40 minute run , so id say she has the bug . That'sa bit to much of a step up imo but shes young and seems to be comfortable with it. I'm doing a parkrun with her Saturday all being well her first.
I'm not sure she'd be into logging ' that may not be cool enough for her.
I,m trying to get my eldest son at it now too.
