While I would never obviously have downloaded anything illegally, hypothetically had I done so I would have stopped doing so once Spotify and Netflix came around. Have had Spotify premium for a few years - would go mad without it at this stage really.
Netflix has the benefit of 2 people using it at once which I in no way abuse by sharing a membership which alas Spotify doesn't have. Still weird to me that spotify is more expensive (or at least was til recently) but I'm still happy to pay it at that price.
    Same.

I know there are issues about Spotify and how much artists actually get paid but I would be inclined to purchase a physical copy of anything I listened to an awful lot anyway.

There is a Spotyify family option alright. it's €15 a month for up to 6 people, so works out at just €2.50 per person.

There's a thread here where people are setting up groups to avail of the discount

Technically you're supposed to be in the same household for that to work. Obviously they are doing nothing to check right now but they might at some point.

I don't mind paying for things but I prefer to have a physical copy if I'm handing over cash.

On my phone there's 3 little dots at the top of the screen when I have a playlist or an album open and when you click it there's a download option.

A physical copy is less useful to be honest. While I understand the appeal there is a reason you don't have a multi CD changer in a car anymore.

Or you can set a whole playlist to sync to "Available offline" which is what I do. Fairly handy.

True, but I still like to have something physical to show for handing over my money. I suppose it's just the old fashioned way of doing things. Not that I'm ancient or anything but I was buying music/DVDs/books before the digital age so it's hard to shake the habit.

That said, I copied about 100 CD's onto an external hard drive the other day before giving them all to the charity shop, so maybe I'm getting there.

I'm pretty sure I still have cassette tapes of music at home somewhere alongside my VHS tapes. There is a reason I don't have a clue where they are or what's on them though.

    http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-38254552

Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger has become a father again at age of 73, his publicist has confirmed.

The singer already has seven children whose ages range from 17 to 45 and he became a great-grandfather in 2014.

So that great grandchild is going to be older than his great-uncle. That's amazing. :D

You'd wonder what a 29 year girl would see in the 73 year old multi millionaire Mick Jagger?

  • Administrators Posts: 55,290 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Mick has done fairly well for himself you'd have to say.

It's obvious what she sees in him, great collection of skinny jeans and he lets her borrow them

And with his money they'd probably be designer ones that fit really well. Win, win.

The last 50 shades of grey I saw was a paint chart for Farrow and Ball.

Did anyone ever watch the movie? I'd reckon if it was on the tele I still wouldn't watch it. I think yer man Dornan (?) would bore you to death.

Went to see Phil Coulter tonight. He said he was excited when the Ireland v New Zealand game was announced in Chicago. He was imagining Ireland's Call being performed by a big American style marching band and 80,000-ish people singing along. He was as disturbed as the rest of us when yer man came out with his fiddle. :)
