Eoin is the last link with the greatest Kilkenny team of all times, the 2008 team. Was truly outstanding in 2008, 2009 and 2010. His catch, solo and score to seal the 2011 AI is my favourite memory of him. Best wisbes

Everyone talks about his workrate and no doubt he usually set the tone in that regard but his first touch was sensational.
Came up with huge scores for us at the most vital times.
What shocked me today when hearing his list of honours was just 2 all stars!

Did he hurl minor for KK? Or was it that he just came like a bolt from the blue the year he won the County final against gowran?

He was unreal at pulling KK out of the fire singlehanded at at times- was it 3-5 points he got in a row against Galway in tullamore in 09 I think? And I thought he should have gotten motm in the 2015 final against Galway.. even though he got charged over the sideline he was still the only one who stood up to Galway in the first half.. although mick fennelly was great that day alright..

Unbelievably talented hurler, one of the greats.

Two images come to mind, the third goal against Waterford in 2008 that put the cherry on top of the most awesome performance in an AI final, and that catch, turn and score to seal the AI against Tipp in 2011. His iconic images in the black and amber for me.

That said, his greatest performance for me was in the replay of the 2011 county final against the Shamrocks, it was pure mastery and poetry, and probably the finest individual display Nowlan Park has ever seen.

Best of luck to Eoin. Such a talent. He was so reliable in the games. So dependable. Always guaranteed to chip away at a few scores also.

He owes nobody nothing and did well to stay on after his spell overseas at the start of the year.

2 JS' men gone from the county within a few weeks. What a hauls of medals they both have.

Eoin was a fantastic hurler over the years. His greatest asset were his strong wrists which meant that he won a lot of ball and got great power into his strokes.

I think he has gone at the right time - still at the top. I was expecting a stellar year like 2008 for him when he returned from army duty but it did not refresh him as much as I thought it would. The absences of both Mick Fennelly and Ger Aylward from the forwards did not help him.

He also did a fair amount of leg work the last couple of years, dropping back very deep, occasionally into our half, which hampered the amount of attacking he was in a position to do. His role had changed I suppose. Like a lot of people, I thought he probably still had more to offer, but you're right, he probably decided to go out on top rather than put himself through another year and risk having the kind of last year Tyrell had, becoming a marginal figure.

That AI final in 2011 had a number of iconic images. Tommy's leap into the sky, Mick Fennelly's surge and shot for a goal, Brian Gavin with a bandaged nose, Henry punching the air after a great score, Jackie waiting for Lar to come out for the second half, JJ's spectacular catches, Eddie Brennan running like a greyhound, Richie's control, swivel and shot and finally Eoin's catch, short solo and score. The last bit seemed to me to be played out in slow motion.

Class hurler. Great wrists, strength and the ultimate team player. Score taker and creator, worked like a Trojan. Fantastic hurler. Can't believe he hasn't more All-Stars as he was at the top of his game for such a long time, set really high standards. And a lovely fella also, had the pleasure (not!) of marking him!!

Was a sub on a minor team which won the all ireland.

Congrats to Mooncoin. Better team on the day. Thought we had a good chance going into the second half only a point down. But Mooncoin improved immeasurably. Their first touch and ability to win dirty ball was a big difference between the teams.
And ye were right, the big full forward caused havoc for our defence. Hopefully they win the All Ireland outright.

First of all I want to thank eoin larkin for all the enjoyment and memories over the last twelve years he was one of my favourite hurlers and a unreal man for his club.I thought he would give it one more year but he struggled this year taken off in the two leinster matches dropped for the replay in thurles and taken off in the final.let's not forget he got two points in the replay and two in the final.the chances are he'd probably struggle even more next year as he said during the week he finds it more difficult to reach the heights required as the years move on so in while I'm gutted we won't see him again in the black and amber he probaly made the right decision.
well done to both teams yesterday carrickshock were extremely lucky and probaly didn't deserve to win the match while mooncoin had to fight very hard.would either of these teams have any potential county players?kevin farrell seems to be improving is he u21 next year?also best of luck to olg today hopefully they can cap a good wknd for club hurling in kilkenny

Handy win for the Boro over the Vlillage in the U21 Nth Final at cold Clara. The final margin of 10 pts flatters Village such was the gap between the two. With a lively forward line, Boro built up a lead playing with the wind in the first half. They were dominant all over tbf. Village got into it more in the second half but Boro kept rhem at arms length picking off scores keeping rhe scoreboard ticking over. Scanlon and Browne were best for Village. Cody, Murphy, Farrell and Kenny were prominent for Boro.

O Loughlins battled hard but were well beaten in the end, reminded me a little of the club All Ireland Final which they lost, couldnt really cope with the speed of Cuala who have a lot of fast players to be fair and are also very strong in the air through Schutte in particular.
