It's like when Homer tried to imagine beating Tyson. Only a heart attack could be imagined.

Did Homer Simpson ever knock a 10-year unbeaten featherweight champion out cold with one punch?

Did Homer Simpson ever put a Welterweight on his ass?

Did Homer Simpson ever make a Lightweight title holder look like a fcuking amateur?

With boxing gloves, yeah, damn tough fight and if Conor doesn't get lucky early, easy fight for Floyd but if Floyd gets hit, he goes down IF they're not fighting with pillows. If they can negotiate that glove size so Conor's benefit, then I don't care who they are, no 40-year-old featherweight is going to take a smack off Conor and it not do them damage. As John said, Conor hits harder than some heavyweights he has worked with. Mayweather is a good fighter in his weightclass (s) but he's still just a midget made of flesh and bone... you'd swear he was seven foot tall and fighting in a golden era the way you people speak of him. McGregor is p4p the goat. Quit doubting him. If the fight happens, he'll have a shot.

He doesn't. He has a boxers chance, at best.

You negate to include ''MMA'' before you said ''welterweight featherweight and lightweight''

A lot of people are very sure of Mayweather toying with Conor. I'm going to take some screenshots to deal with all the ninja editors when the Mac drops Money in the first round :-D

    Does nobody remember this?

He would get mauled by Mayweather. He could beat Conor one handed and still pick the time that he wants to finish the fight.

As much as I am a fan of McGregor, he should stick with MMA and the UFC. Doing this freak show would do him no favours (aside from financial) or MMA.

Stick to what you are good at.

Pete. this takes the biscuit. You're living in fantasy land, spouting pure rubbish. Diaz isn't a welterweight. McGregor is an average amateur boxer. You can see the benefit a background in boxing has given McGregor over fighting lads who only learned to throw punches in mma training. The skill gap between the mma boxing and conors boxing is high. The skill difference between average amateur boxing that Conor has and professional boxing is insane.

All you need to do is look at the sparring videos of Conor boxing the boxers in the US. You couldn't even say he was holding his own. By all reports and from the videos they all bested him. He doesn't have a chance in hell against one of the best fighters to ever step in the ring. May weather is arguably the best technical boxer to ever fight. Some of the best fighters in the world were barely able to land a punch on him.

This video is of a pretty good but not top tier elite level (the Andy Lee of his weight class) boxer toying with Conor.

Watch the difference between their foot movement, or Conor's lack there of.

Watch the stance, Conor is still doing that side on, light in the front foot stance he uses in MMA, he completely negates his jab and throws lead hooks and lead uppercuts. His head stays centerline and he pulls back at the waist instead of bobbing.

This is the difference between someone who has good hands for an MMA fighter and someone who is an elite level professional boxer.

There is no shame in this, it's not saying Conor isn't a good striker, he is, for MMA...

Put him in a kick boxing fight with Joe Schilling and you have the same thing, he'd get his head taken off with a shin.

MMA has elements of boxing and kick boxing, but it's not either of them.

What you are forgetting here is that he is still training for an MMA fight. It makes sense not to adapt the stance in training because he is still trying to mimic what he is going to do in the fight.

To the people who say Conor could have a chance with Floyd.

Conor is a brown Belt in BJJ.

Do you think he has a hope in hell in a sub only BBJ match against any of the brown belts from Marcelo Garcia's Dream Team or John Danaher's Death Squad?

You'd all choke into your red lemonade and laugh at the thought.

The difference between his skill level and an elite boxer is multiples of that between his skill level and that of a world class brown belt.

I'm not saying he wouldn't. What I'm saying is, people are judging his boxing stance based on a video of him training for an MMA fight.

I may be wrong, but it would be my guess that he would alter his stance if he was in training for a pure boxing match.

Well if he was training under someone like Freddy Roach for more than 5 minutes the first thing he'd do is start working on stance, foot movement, head movement and using the jab, his arms are so long that in a boxing match that jab would be a massive advantage.

The other thing to consider is habit. He has been fighting the way he does for years now, he wouldnt be able to just change at the click of a switch.

The more and more I think about it, the worse it gets for Conor. He would have to do so much work to just not get embarrassed!

Didnt freddie say he would train him - and Conor would be ready in 3 years!

Freddie Roach's take on it was he'd need 3 years with Conor fulltime before Conor would be ready to even get in a ring with Floyd, and even then he'd get schooled.

What if his opponent was a brown belt with a predominantly defensive style, who hadn't won any of his last 7 bjj match ups by sub over the last 6 years??

Anyone who thinks McGregor has more than a 10%-15% chance of winning against Mayweather needs their head checked. Equally so does anyone who thinks McGregor has a 0% chance of winning. It's boxing, it can all be keen in one punch.

While I agree that one punch can end it all, you really have to take into account how likely it is that he lands that. I would honestly put it at less than 1%. If you go back far enough in my post history you will see that I posted a huge amount on the boxing forum years ago and hated Floyd (still do). And I'm a massive Conor fan.

However this is a total mismatch. Floyd is not a big hitter in boxing terms but he will seriously be able to choose when he finishes this. If it happens I imagine it will last a few rounds because Floyd is generally cautious. But once he realises he can toy with him, he will. Maybe for a couple rounds. Before taking him out with an accumulation of pot shots.

It's different level stuff here. You have some of the best boxers in the world who seriously could not touch Floyd. Could not even get close. Conor will be made to look terrible if this happens. Mosley, who although was past it at the time of their fight, still had huge power and couldn't put Floyd down when he landed his big shot. And Mosley is a bigger hitter than Conor, especially with those gloves.

It's as much of a no-contest as is possible. Conor has a chance but not a realistic one.

Pete. this takes the biscuit. You're living in fantasy land, spouting pure rubbish. Diaz isn't a welterweight.

On that day he was and yet Conor's power knocked him on his ass.
McGregor is an average amateur boxer. You can see the benefit a background in boxing has given McGregor over fighting lads who only learned to throw punches in mma training.

McGregor is not knocking Aldo out cold and making a joke of Alvarez just because he had the benefit of some boxing experience in his youth (it helps, sure) but the main reason they can't go toe to toe with him is because of power and his precision.
The skill gap between the mma boxing and conors boxing is high. All you need to do is look at the sparring videos of Conor boxing the boxers in the US. You couldn't even say he was holding his own. By all reports and from the videos they all bested him. He doesn't have a chance in hell against one of the best fighters to ever step in the ring. You say what I am saying is rubbish, but yet you don't even address the points I made. GLOVE SIZE is crucial to points I am making.

Again: Mayweather relies on the size of the boxing gloves to be able to effectively deflect punches with that shoulder roll. If he tries that wearing MMA gloves, it will most likely catch the top of his head. The rest of his defense would be negated also by smaller gloves. You folks are seriously underestimating how much the size of boxer gloves would effect the outcome of this fight given how much Mayweather relies on them. He'd be wide open and sure that works both ways and Floyd would be somewhat quick again too but Floyd is not a power hitter, Conor is.

Let me ask you (or anyone) this. Lets say (for argument's sake) they fight went ahead with mma gloves and Mayweather gets hit with the same punch that Aldo did, what would that do to Floyd? Not saying he would land such a shot nor that Floyd would let it happen... but if it did, how do you think Floyd would take a punch like that and how much damage would it do?

Absolutely and that's mentioned by some of the lads that were in the gym that day when he sparred with VanHeerden (who's a welterweight lets not forget also):

    Welterweight Boxer = 147lbs
I could be wrong but your last sentence make me believe you think it's 170lbs.

No, I'm just putting the comments made by those in the gym in context given that the guy he sparred with is the same weight that the fight would be at if he ever got it. It wasn't some boot lacer. I know Floyd boasts about the five weight classes thing and all but I think that's nonsense given that the actual weight span McGregor has fought is larger.

Anyway, I'm off out... whatever happens anyway, should the fight happen, can't be any worse than the debacle that was Ali v Inoki.
