Watch the difference between their foot movement, or Conor's lack there of. Watch the stance, Conor is still doing that side on, light in the front foot stance he uses in MMA, he completely negates his jab and throws lead hooks and lead uppercuts. His head stays centerline and he pulls back at the waist instead of bobbing. This is the difference between someone who has good hands for an MMA fighter and someone who is an elite level professional boxer. There is no shame in this, it's not saying Conor isn't a good striker, he is, for MMA... Put him in a kick boxing fight with Joe Schilling and you have the same thing, he'd get his head taken off with a shin. MMA has elements of boxing and kick boxing, but it's not either of them.

As much as I am a fan of McGregor, he should stick with MMA and the UFC. Doing this freak show would do him no favours (aside from financial) or MMA. Stick to what you are good at.

Did Homer Simpson ever make a Lightweight title holder look like a fcuking amateur? With boxing gloves, yeah, damn tough fight and if Conor doesn't get lucky early, easy fight for Floyd but if Floyd gets hit, he goes down IF they're not fighting with pillows. If they can negotiate that glove size so Conor's benefit, then I don't care who they are, no 40-year-old featherweight is going to take a smack off Conor and it not do them damage. As John said, Conor hits harder than some heavyweights he has worked with. Mayweather is a good fighter in his weightclass (s) but he's still just a midget made of flesh and bone... you'd swear he was seven foot tall and fighting in a golden era the way you people speak of him. McGregor is p4p the goat. Quit doubting him. If the fight happens, he'll have a shot.

I agree that any decent pro boxer would probably beat him in boxing, but let's not forget that Joseph Duffy was 11-0 as a pro boxer and Conor is a better striker than him. Even if Joe's style is more suited to boxing, it's a bit silly to think Conor would get easily beaten by a decent amateur. He definitely wouldn't. I'd imagine top amateurs would easily beat him but he'd be well able to hang with any amateur below that elite level.
Outlaw Pete wrote: » What about glove size was different though? Obviously Mayweather is not going to fight outside of boxing rules but if they could negotiate that Mayweather had to wear MMA sized gloves, wouldn't that lessen Floyd's advantage somewhat? Given that the larger gloves in boxing play are significant factor in fighter's defensive style. Smaller gloves would likely mean there would be more chance of him getting clipped and caught than if he had the size of gloves which he is used to.
