The Last Guardian is out next week.

*double, triple, quadruple checks to ensure this isn't something I imagined in a fever dream*

Nope. The Last Guardian is out next week.

Final Fantasy 15 finally being out today is pretty crazy as well seeing as development essentially started in 2006.

Anyone with a raspberry pi JAMMA board, there is a new release of the ARpiCade just released today V3.6. I'll post a video of my setup later for anyone interested. unfortunately its hosted with mediafire and is taking an age to download :(

I've just never had any particular interest in FFXV I have to admit. I'll give it a go at some stage, but as a series it departed from the kind of things I'm interested long ago. Whereas time has only enhanced my fondness and appreciation for the peerless achievements of Ico and SOTC, so super interested in seeing what Ueda has to offer after all these years.

People have all the time in the world to value something before they put it on. If no one got something cheaper on Adverts then the site wouldn't even exist. A lot do it just to spite a sale because they were late to see it or can't collect it etc. A hugely annoying thing.

I'm talking massive changes over what the item is worth, as I presume the other poster is too.

That would be pretty annoying, never seen it but I don't use adverts much either

The Last Guardian is the one I bought a PS3 for!
Any more delays and it's original development platform would have turned retro!

I reckon I'll love FFXV in the same way I loved Jupiter Ascending. It's special kind of love.

The kind of love that dare not speaks it's name... because it's not love, it's pity, and sorrow for spending money on it in the first place

I still think it looks like JoJo's, the seasons with Jotaro and the lads are on tour, it'll be great craic.

I doubt I'll get to play it so probably watch a play through. Looks gorgeous and I liked the movie, saw it in the cinema last week.

The Last Guardian, I had completly given up on that game. I have zero hype for it now. Hopefully it will turn out great!

Any of you vinyl heads on here will be happy to see Data Discs lastest releases are Panzer Dragoon & Revenge of Shinobi, both for sale on Saturday

They just announced aswell that the next releases for 2017 are Streets of Rage 3 and Gunstar Heroes.

Any sign of good deals on The Last Guardian out there?
Seems ominous that there's no active thread on the General Gaming forum for the title, also worrying is the review embargo until hours before release.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,974 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

When is it out? Might keep an eye on Argos to see if they get it in assuming the reviews are positive enough.

Some vagueness there on the release front.
An EU release is pencilled in for the 7th, the UK release is the 9th. So Amazon's .fr and .co.uk assure me.
What that means for us, I suppose we'll be stuck with the UK release date...

At least it means we'll get to read the reviews first, though unless it stinks I'll be buying it anyway.

It's the exceedingly rare critic proof game for me, along with Persona 5. Have to play and judge for myself - even if it is gaming's most crushing disappointment, I feel I need to play through to the end credits of The Last Guardian for some sort of emotional closure.

All I ask is that it's not a broken mess of a game (highly unlikely) and if it's anywhere near Ico then that's good enough for me.

I haven't played that masterpiece in many years so I wonder has time been kind to it? What would today's gamers/reviewers think of it if playing for the first time? Will TLG feel like a PS2 era game in terms of your character's movement or have they brought it on a bit. Having said that - I always thought Nathan Drake's movement was a bit crap in any of the Uncharted games I've played.

Fingers crossed it puts a smile on my face like Ico once did. :)

So, my Famicom Mini arrived this morning. Looks awesome, except those controllers are like something a toddler would use (size wise).

I've played it more recently and was surprised how gracefully it has aged (in its HD incarnation anyway, although it's the same game). The fluency and cohesiveness of its design still sets it apart, far beyond any control quirks of the era.

Reading a few previews of The Last Guardian, it seems the controls are actually more in line with the previous two Ueda games than more modern titles, which I'm sure will be a sticking point for many. Also from what I've read the creature's behaviour can be frustrating - but unclear yet whether that's by design or AI limitations. It's a brave move to introduce unpredictability as a design choice, but hard to pull off in execution so will be really interested to see how that works.

Still, there's always been something decidedly non-mainstream about these games - niche titles with near blockbuster budgets. Would be no surprise if The Last Guardian is a commercial flop or deeply divisive - whether it deserves that fate is the real question :)

I've heard the AI companions AI differs the further you get in the game as trust builds up. At the start it can be quite frustrating.

So expect lots of complaints & throwing toys from prams about the game being broken, rather then giving the game the time its need to evolve..

anyone here get stuck into FF XV yet?

I watched a few reviews amd seems to be a positive, id like to get a familiar opinion on it though

For anyone who may have been considering the Retro-Bit Generations as an alternative to the NES Mini, I certainly wouldn't bother. The emulation seems to be quite horrific on a lot of the games and they even left a vertical shooter (Varth) in horizontal mode which deems it almost unplayable. A pity too as it had an interesting lineup of games, with some fodder too of course

Only arrived this evening. Just about to pop it in and download the 8gb patch.

Might watch the anime series while I wait... I already watched the 2 hour movie so I'm almost good to go.

Is Varth in tate mode? In that if you turn your TV on it's side you'll be able to then play it?

If so that might be on purpose.

Ugly looking little yolk, I certainly wouldn't be buying one based on that alone.

I'm sure turning your tv would let you play it, but I highly doubt it's on purpose, and if it is it's pretty stupid imo. It doesn't give you the option of changing it, unlike some previous Capcom collections, which is madness if it is on purpose. I doubt it is on purpose though with the mess they made with a lot of the other games.
