Lads cut out the nonsense, the same few of you are spouting your usual crap and having a go at each other.

Few of you might train but right now most of you are coming across like this..

Hes weird with faber as well. Going on about how much faber makes from his fighters etc was very strange.

Has there been any comment from Conor about him being stripped of the belt? Thought he'd be straight onto social media. <mod snip>

On the flip side, he completely tore Faber apart over Dillashaw.

That's incorrect. Aldo has been a dominant champion going ten years. The general public who don't lick McGregors ring piece know he got clipped and can happen to anyone.
General MMA fans know that, the "general public" know fk all tbh. And what does their opinion matter - what does any opinion matter really.
The people calling Aldo a bum make about as much sense as the people discrediting McGregor at every opportunity. It's all very odd.

I also don't understand the whole "back to the fight night cards" mentality. They aren't putting belts on fight nights anytime soon. But even if they do. What does it matter? If I want to see a fight, I'll watch it.
If we get offer Aldo vrs Holloway down the line. It makes no difference to me whether it's on the UFC210 PPV or UFC on Fox 25.

cruz-dillashaw and rda alvarez were both on fight nights. true, it doesnt matter to core fans we'll still tune in but if you only concentrate on us and ignore the casual fan its bad for the growth of the sport. For any of the divisions below 170/185 unless theres a guy like mcgregor most people dont care as all they see is two small guys fighting and I suppose the ''sure hes tiny, I'd bate him'' mentality would be present in a lot of cases aswel. Just think its a bad call by the ufc to remove your biggest draw from a division that traditionally does poorly.

So was Cruz-Barao and RDA Cowboy.
I wasn't saying they've never had the belt on fight night, I meant that I can't see it happening now in WME era.
From memory the HW, LW, BW and Fly belts have been on non-PPV events. Most of them multiple times.
Just think its a bad call by the ufc to remove your biggest draw from a division that traditionally does poorly.
I don't think it will makes a difference overall tbh.

Pettis v Holloway was already booked.
Aldo hasn't fought since July, so I imagine he would have defended the interim belt verses Max/Pettis in early 2017.
If Conor was ever going to drop down for a unification match it would have been later in the year.

Which is exactly the same scenario now. They've just changed the belts, but the fights are the same, the McGregor factor is unchanged going forward.

They made a mess of stripping mcgregor and just handing it to Aldo. They should have had him fight someone for the now vacant title.

Once again, no. Aldo fought Edgar for the interim belt and won. They've stripped McGregor so also is champion. There's nothing more to it, no other fight required to declare him champion.

The mess is in having Pettis and Holloway fight for an interim belt.

Not sure why you are still banging that drum. Your misconception was pointed out yesterday.

The title was never vacant. There's been an interim belt since July.

i try and stay clear posting non fight stuff, but this is a bit mad? conor will destroy him at the pressers!

Conor had the belt. Aldo had the interim. They take it off mcgregor and i think aldo should fight someone for it. Instead of aldo getting the belt. Its not a misconception as i understand why aldo gets it. Its an opinion. It looks bad if you take the belt off the fella who knocked you out in 13 seconds and you get given it.

Wasn't Rousey just handed a belt, she didn't have to fight anyone for it IIRC

You said the title was vacant, but that's not true. And that that Aldo didn't fight anyone for it, which isn't true either (Frankie). These are just the facts, not opinions.

Aldo held the official interim title, When Conor was stripped he automatically becomes champion. That's are simply what happens. It's the same as if he was stripped before UFC 200. To do what you are describing, they would have needed to strip Conor AND Aldo.
The physical belt that Aldo had last week, is the same physical belt he holds now. He hasn't been given a new one.

It was the same when Cruz was stripped. Barao (as interim) automatically became undisputed champion.

She fought Kaufman to become UFC champ.

Whilst it was a Strikeforce fight (under Zuffa) it was announced beforehand the division was being absorbed and the winner would become the inaugural champion.

Pettis beats Holloway its a massive anti climax surely, I know hes an ex champ at 55 but the momentum is behind Max as the young gun on a tear, Ive been predicting him to reign over the division for a while (hes only 24) big pressure on him now, If Aldo has any cop on he'd be shouting from the roof tops soon as he unify's his belt he wants a shot at the 55 belt to be the 2nd person to hold 2 belts (this fight would suit McGregor perfectly)

Again my opinion of what should happen. At the very least have aldo defend belt and not have another interim title

Again my opinion of what should happen.
What is? That Aldo should be stripped too?

I'm not talking about your opinion on what they should do, I was only talking about the part where you said Aldo didn't fight anyone and was handed the belt.

I agree about this new Pettis/Max interim title they are making. Complete nonsense.
Could be saved if Pettis got injured and Aldo agreed to fight on 2 weeks notice.

I think aldo should have to fight someone, even if they award him belt have him defend straight away.

It looks silly to me handing mcgregors belt to aldo.

They'll book a defence for him in about two weeks time, I'd guess.
They can't just throw onto the 206 card without a camp.
They didn't hand him a belt. It's still the one he won back in July. They just made it current. He won't get the additional silverware until he defends it.

Against who. Holloway deserves the shot imo. I presume he would be no 1 contender now.

Has Aldo being handed the belt sorted out the UFC 208 issue? As in they seem to actually have a title fight as a main event possibility for it now, providing the winner of Holloway/Pettis is up for it..

    Holloway or Pettis

If they act fast, it could be slotted in there. But they won't know until injuries are assessed. 208 definitely not sorted yet. Bisping is still an option there too, maybe.
Could be 210 or later before it's unified.

This was already decided yesterday. Holloway vs Pettis at 206 for the interm belt. Then the winner fights Aldo at a later undecided card to unify.

Oh so aldo wont fight until the winner of that fight? Against who i meant aldo as the other two were booked.

Its unlikely to make it on to UFC 208, if there is a KO in the fight you are looking at a minimum of 45 days before they would be sanctioned to fight. I cant see either of them coming out of that fight fighting fit ready for 208 physically anyways. As Mellor said more likely to be UFC 210 or later before it happens.

There is nothing announced to say he will or wont have a fight but I can't see him fighting anyone else before the winner to unify the title. With UFC 206 only around the corner we will know pretty soon who he has to fight so I assume shortly after that fight or even at the press conference they will announce Aldo vs the winner and what card it will be on.

looking at the whole thing Id like to see pettis beat max and then go on to beat aldo, sets up an interesting angle between him/conor with them both potentially holding both 145/155 belts.

also what happens if conor rings dana and says he wants aldo next to get his belt back?

I would presume mcgregor wasnt going down which resulted in him losing the belt

but what if the belt being taken motivates him to come down?
and him being stripped is less to do with where hes fighting next and more to do with the ufc being stuck to get some silverware on the line for 206. he fought at a weight other than 145 next he was getting stripped but they would have waited till he announced what his next move was to decide if dc hadn't pulled out, what if aldo next was his plan all along?

I presume he gets a shot straight away. Same way a champ going up a weight gets a shot.
