Did they give him a FW belt?

McGregor will likely defend the lightweight belt first. There's literally zero chance of him fighting Woodley. Firstly he would be demolished at welterweight. Secondly, the hassle he has caused for the ufc already with chasing and holding two belts has been enough of a headache already
No possibility they allow him to chase a third belt

I think the belt is gonna be taken of him as a bit of a know your place type of thing from the new owners. The new bosses of the UFC will want to make a statement that they run the show and for McGregor to forget about owning shares in the company unless he wants to buy them of someone.

Wonder will he quit again over it! Not sure about the woodley thing - JK seems to think its possible (mma hour)

Smart move alienating your biggest draw.

Exactlly why i think it wont happen; its a fairly big 4b hole there getting out of; when Nunes beats Rousey theres only really McGregor left.

They called his bluff with the UFC200 thing when nobody expected that so dont be surprised, hes gone even bigger now but these investors are ruthless.

Didn't work out too well for them though. I thought the sale was announced after 200 anyway?

Well they kept him off the card he wanted to fight on and it made him retreat a bit, now hes even more leverage so who knows what happens think it might depend on Ronda winning or losing,

Acc to MMAFighting.com its official now Pettis Holloway for the interim Conor has been stripped, 2nd time Aldo has been handed the fw belt now without fighting for it.

People on about deserving this and that if you play that game how on gods earth is Pettis fighting for any sort of belt when hes lost 3 of his last 4 fights.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,764 ✭✭✭ASOT

At the end of the day he should have fought Aldo or gave a commitment to fight him next.

I can't see Aldo accepting this promotion without fighting McGregor. UFC further pissing off Aldo. Madness altogether.

Aldo wasnt ready for a rematch till the summer at the very earliest so dont see how hes holding it up ages like people claim, 5 months max hes holding it up.

How many ppv's will this stunt sell compared to how much it annoys the number 1 star?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 7,269 ✭✭✭Gamebred

A decision win over Edgar and Aldo has his belt back deep down he wont be happy with that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

Pettis fighting for a featherweight title, interim or not, is an absolute embarrassment too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,764 ✭✭✭ASOT

Flip side is Aldo could be stripped of his interim belt

The reality is imo, not one featherweight contender or Aldo (I assume) wanted McGregor stripped.

There goes that red panty night.

flip side is we might get a 145 title fight in dublin after all, as a co main on a fight night in the o2...

Is there a reason they would do that though? He only won it in July. Had he been refusing fights?

I doubt it but he was refusing to fight and moaning again. I really dont think its possible but was just throwing it out there anyway.

This is dumb, another interim belt and the interim holder jumps ahead. ****ing joke, just because Cormier got injured. Need to have a Conor Aldo rematch.

A tad disingenuous, but I suspect you already know that.

Just a tad true too, complete fact he was handed 2 belts now without winning them.

There's fact and there's context. Usually helpful when you make use of both.
