So no the fighting till May at least... will feel weird without having a big McGregor build up! Makes you realise how active he was. Great value being a "fan".

Does anyone reckon a break like that will effect a fighter? How has it affected other fighters?

Fighters regularly take over a year out, I don't think it will affect him too much, he'll still be going hard in training, trying to come back with some new tricks.

I do think fighting often and keeping training light is the way to go though, nothing sharpens your skills like being in the octagon.

This McGregor v Mayweather talk is f'ing unbearable. Mayweather would beat the shít out of him boxing - Bareknuckle or 12 oz.

McGregor would beat the shít out of him in an MMA fight.

They fight in different sports. It's f'ing boring at this stage.

I can see people starting to claim Conor can beat Andy Murray in a game of tennis next :pac:

Also it's abundantly clear Mayweather is mentioning Conor to keep himself relevant. He's retired, but fading into obscurity probably won't appeal to someone like Floyd.

For Conor, every time Mayweather mentions his name he has Mayweather fans unfamiliar with him running to YouTube etc. to find out who he is. It's mutually benifical for both fighters to keep this up. It's madness to actually believe anything will come from it.

The countdown shows to McGregor Mayweather would be great tv Floyd making him look poor would be a new position for Conor to be in, the over unders on Rolls Royces in each episode would be high.

    That's most likely it.

Fcuk Mayweather, I love watching Conor fighting and a Mayweather fight is a fight lost where he could have been fighting in the UFC. If he is off until May (Which I can understand), I would like to see him fight Khabib,Aldo,Ferguson, Holloway, Woodley annnnyone :D

I listened to the first 45 seconds because Teddy Atlas is a bit of a tit, however the first 45 seconds was spot on. I presume the rest was accurate if he stayed rational though knowing Teddy, that may not have happened.

Anyway, regarding this nonsense of Conor vs Floyd (which I think has more of a chance of happening than some here), it's a non-contest under boxing rules.

I absolutely despise Floyd and love Conor, but that's literally a no-chance fight for Conor. The build-up would be epic and it would make an insane amount of money, but Conor is not competitive even against a 40 year-old Floyd. Floyd couldn'd be touched by some of the best boxers in the world. Conor would get handily beaten by any top level pro (and using "top level" loosely).

It's not that boxing is better (obviously Conor would ruin Floyd in under a minute or two in MMA), it's just that top boxers have trained this one specific skill their entire lives. And Floyd is easily top 10 of all-time (no he's not number 1 gambred). Floyd might be the best defensive boxer of all time. Canlelo couldn't touch him, and put Canelo against Conor and Conor is unconscious within 90 seconds.

Gamebred I'm willing to bet the princely sum of 2 euro that Conor fights on 209 in Brooklyn against Tyron Woodley Feb 11th :)

I wouldnt doubt it Wonder especially with Dana saying hes out till may as that means the opposite considering he cant lie straight in bed,

he just got by Diaz 3 rounds to 2, look what happened Diaz at 170 its not a good decision going up there against any of them I know mma math means nothing but look Maia even done to Gunni, scary guys up there absolute tanks.

This "time off to have a baby" thing ....I'm surprised people aren't seeing through it.

Most people I know who have kids, they tend to keep very busy and save their holiday days in work for when the child is born.

Surely when you want time off is for when the baby is actually here? People keep talking as if the plan is to take until May off, spend a couple of days with the baby and get back into training.....

That makes very little sense to me. What makes more sense to me is he fights in February on UFC 209 and then sits out until the November 2017 card in MSG.

Fair play to you gamebred, I remember when you came on the scene you were ridiculed badly (rightfully). You've evolved your posting game and you're now a well-liked poster (also rightfully).

There is no bigger McGregor fanboy (well maybe Wonder) but I'm a realist,

Shameless look at me ive met someone famous but I met Maia a few times and hes an absolute tank that used to fight at 185 if he catches a single leg just once its over and that goes for anyone at 155 imo but thats a whole other arguement before the Khabib fans start.

I've heard plenty of Khabib fans say that Khabib would ragdoll Maia.

Delusion is not limited to Conor fans! :pac:

Still, it's fun to discuss all these hypotheticals on here. It beats having actual real friends and something to be doing on a Friday night lol.... oh wait :o

My personal belief is the margin for error gets higher for Conor the lower he fights at. He can walk through strikes at 145. Less so at 155 and even less so at 170. Ditto Khabib. He could probably be competitive at 170 in grappling exchanges and even 185'ers in the gym but his margin for error gets a lot lower.

Woodley is angling hard for Maia on the December 30th card as Co main because he knows Ronda sells ppvs and he can negotiate points because Nunes will get screwed over pay wise.

He's not ready for that its way too close after a training camp and hard 5 rds so he can keep angling,

Im genuinely not mad for the Wonderboy rematch it didnt excite me too much sooner see Maia fight for the belt let Wonderboy fight Lawler or Condit in the mean time.

Was that confirmed the guy who said Conor is in Artems corner tomorrow or just a rumour?

I'd have thought if he's gonna be in anyones corner it'd be Charlie Ward.

Speaking of which, his opponent looks excellent in the footage i've seen. National champion of Ghana in Judo and has an unreal right uppercut. 6 wins all by first round KO but has been taken down twice off caught leg-kicks.

He came out of the wonderboy fight clean as a whistle besides a small shiner on his right eye. Straight back to the gym in St. Louis on Wednesday and talking about fighting Maia because he "knows" Conor os fighting Nate next.

I've seen Ward fight a few times remember on a stream over in Blackpool and he was ko'd dead then seen him live at Cage Kings hes really not that good is cardio looked awful I dont think theres such thing as ''UFC Level'' anymore so i wont say hes not at that just hes not great his opponent wont have to be great.

Charlie is a bigger artem. Heavy hands, plods forward hands down and goes head hunting.

Don't see either of them having long UFC careers and neither would be there if it wasn't for their gym mate but sure they might as well take it while they can.

Speaking of Artem, Ryan Hall raped him for three rounds and still hasn't had another fight. What's that about.

    Edit.

Fighting Maynard on TUF finale next month.

    Heelhook incoming.

You say Artem was raped (he was positionally) wasnt close to being tapped at any stage in fairness to him if my memory serves me correct,

hes 7/1 to get a ko tomorrow not a bad bet, I can see them getting fights in cagewarriors after the ufc should they be cut ever, Artem has a degree in finance so he has a career anyways.

A fight which Charlie was dominating until he got flattened by a much bigger opponent.
Plus he's always fighting at MW, which he shouldn't be. He's too small for MW. He's at WW for the UFC. I think he'll do well.

He was purple in the face for over a minute and saved by the end of the round.

Dana said today he doesnt want to fight because dee's stress levels go through the roof and that they dont want her like that while pregnant! Take from that what you will!
