It also says a lot about Sanders supporters and Sanders himself. For all the bluster about change, he was really only a cult of personality candidate; once he was out, people lost interest, voted for Trump or voted for a third party candidate. Clinton got the crap end of the stick, was scrutinized unfairly, more than Trump was, and Sanders didn't rally his people behind her quick enough. The low voter turnout was awful for her too, and I think that in general it was the Sanders delusion that caused so much trouble. People don't care about policies, they care about the person, Sanders talked a big game, but never had any substance, Clinton did her homework and was qualified, but failed to reach her goal because of Sanders, electoral college and her gender. It's sad to say, but the idea of 'people power' only goes so far once you remove the personality in front of the ideology. It's the paradox of the political system, it's all flash, and any substance is lost to those blinded by it.

Yeah sanders as a candidate for change should have rallied behind the establishment candidate who completely shafted him and the party that facilitated that

Youre right that sanders was a major problem for Clinton but youre completely wrong about why

It's almost like they feel disenfranchised by the government and are lashing out. Where have I heard that before? Oh yeah, it's the reason we're told Trump was elected.

    Funny old world, eh?

All this nonsense is going to continue for the next year. At that point trump will either have proven himself capable or not. At the moment, it's just two sides embarrassing themselves by pretending the other side is worse when they're both the same. I mean, do any of you actually believe that if Clinton won that there wouldn't be riots? With politicians actually egging people on to take up arms?

This is what happens when politicians forget they work for the people and don't rule them.

When you have a candidate declaring that the very first thing he's going to do is round up millions of people including children, then it's a perfectly valid thing to compare them with Hitler or Stalin. Your embarrassment at seeing such comparisons is part of the reason why he was elected.

Trump is a dangerous dangerous man. If he does even half of the things he campaigned on, then the world will be on fire when he leaves office

I see nothing wrong with deporting illegal immigrants. Neither does the Obama administration.

Heard interviews with numerous legal immigrants who voted for Trump for this exact reason.

You conveniently stop after saying he's going to round them up. His plan is to deport people that have no right to be in the country and send them back to their own country, not gas them.

How many people were depored from America over the last 8 years?

Accelerate the process of imprisoning Americans? Ehh… You do realise that Americans make up something like 10% of people on the planet, yet Americans make up one quarter of all prisoners on the planet? Yep, 1 in 4 of all people in gaol on Earth is in an American gaol. If any nation on Earth could be called a "prison state", the US of A would be.

And that's before we get to the well dodgy demographics of their prison population, never mind the private prisons making profits from free labour. Interestingly the first great US prison boom came in the south, in the wake of their civil war and freeing of the southern slaves and again the demographics were oddly skewed in favour of darker folks arrested on trumped up charges like loitering, vagrancy and being in charge of brown skin, curly hair and big lips in a built up area.

So yeah, great idea, lock more of their citizens up. Jesus Christ.

I see Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader in the Senate, has poured cold water on a number of Trumps key campaign promises. He said things like infrastructure spending, term limits on Congress, limits on lobbyists weren't on the Senate's agenda amongst other things. Trump will need to learn the game of politics fast.

Obama has deported more illegal immigrants than any other president in US history.

Obama is such a horrible racist.

Allright so people refuse to believe he's racist, how about homophobic and anti-women?

He's promised to nominate judges who are not only super anti abortion but also very anti marriage equality and LGBT rights. So expect a supreme court to not only overturn the DOMA ruling from last year allowing LGBT people to marry but also Roe V Wade which is what makes abortion legal in the US.

Pence his VP has also stated he will work to repeal much of Obama's work on equality legislation for LGBT people in employment, discrimination and when adopting.

Or is all that just nonsense too?

Also don't forget with both a republican house and senate every bit of that is possible with relative ease

No one has called white men idiots as far as I have seen. I am a white man and no one has called me an idiot.

Trump is an out and out racist (I don't mean curbing immigration-calling Mexican's rapists and saying a judge was inappropriate because he was of Mexican heritage as a quick example).

You have to wonder at the people supporting him. No one said all white men supported Trump so your claims of racism and sexism against white men is entirely unfounded.

It seems Trump supporters want to receive respect without ever being respectful of others. Trump collapsed this campaign into the mud early on and his supporters cheered him for it. The minute someone points out his massive flaws they cry that they aren't respected enough. This thread shows the liberals have the tougher skin and are less likely to go for the pc police (I guess respect police for the right wing since they sub in respect for pc).

    Youre kidding right?

Did you actually read this thread yet for example

Trump voters have been called idiots, braindead, c*nts

Described as white males whining about losing their entitlement

Described as sexists who simply wouldnt vote for a woman

And the fact that the voter breakout doesnt actually support that just goes whiosh over peoples heads

Since coming to office in 2009, Obama's government has deported more than 2.5 million people—up 23% from the George W. Bush years. More shockingly, Obama is now on pace to deport more people than the sum of all 19 presidents who governed the United States from 1892-2000, according to government data.

Don't remember any protests about this.

When Mexico sends it people, they're not sending their best. They're not sending you. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people,

The "some" at the end as you will likely try argue means he didnt say they all are bad and yes you're right BUT it also means he is inferring that the majority of them are killers, rapists and drug dealers, yeah that's not racist at all.....

I am happy that Russia and the US will have a better relationship now and people said he would be the warmonger. Besides carrying the fight to ISIS, I doubt you will see the US invading any country or involved in more wars.

    'Better relationship' ?

All that has happened is Putin basically saying that the sanctions against his country can be lifted now.

Plenty of gay people voted against gay marriage. I don't get it. Just don't get married. However it happened here and it happened in the states.

Want to point out where all white men where insulted?

It is horrific. Unsure about racism as it is about politics but since they probably wouldn't beat up a black man for voting Trump it is indeed racist and very certainly horrific.

However "this is what real Racism is"?

Where was all the fake racism? Anything that happens against black people? Calling Mexicans rapists was obviously fake racism right.

You had a good point but fell into the same trap plenty on the looney left do. Just because there is racism vs. White people is no reason to deny racism against others.

All things told if I was in the states I would definitely rather be a white straight male than anything else.

@Christy42 , I agree there is bad eggs on both sides. Plenty of racists on Trumps side, aswell as Hillary's. It annoys me the extreme left claim themselves to be perfect and all Trump supporters are racist.

The scenario is very tricky for the Republicans now, they need Trump to be succesful or else they are dead in the water come the next election. Do they back him in Congress on the radical proposals for which he got elected or will they block them.
I have a feeling he will row back on many of his OTT claims and if does in 4 years times people might be saying he wasnt that bad a president.

would that distinction be made if it was a gang of white trump voters beating a black lad?
