there seems to be growing rumours (though unconfirmed) of an update to the Oneplus 3 - Oneplus 3S or Oneplus 3Plus.
The rumour is that it will look the same as the OP3 but will have the new snapdragon 821 and some other minor upgrades. Possibly a switch to LCD screens because of shortages on the AMOLED side of things...

Daydream compatability seems to be the main reason for the upgrade.

Anyone in the market for an OP3 should probably hang on for a little while longer to see how this story develops
Hold off based on unsubstantiated rumours so people can use Daydream? Madness.
    Uriel. wrote: »
Hold off for a couple of weeks to see if the rumours have truth to them? Yeah horrifying stuff altogether. And it's not specifically day dream, but rather upgraded internals that might be of interest. If your desperate for a phone today no one is stopping anyone from pulling the trigger on the OP3 or any other phone.
I have one. I'm perfectly content with it.

Your exact words were "Daydream compatability seems to be the main reason for the upgrade". Given that people have spent the vast majority of this thread since the phone came out whining about delivery times, suggesting that people wait to see if there's a variant on the model (with no reliable source, details or estimate of what impact it will have on the ordering process) that's primary reason for existing is daydream compatibility is, in my opinion, completely daft.
    Uriel. wrote: »
Daydream is OP's main reason for the upgrade to grab a slice of that pie before the mobile Congress next spring. End users main reason may not be daydream compatability but rather upgraded specs for the same price or slightly more.
Not sure what's daft about potential end users having information available to them. People can make up their own mind as to whether they wait to see if it's worth hanging on.

Sounds like the only issue you have is something else coming along to mess with your contentness
Problem? I don't have any problem. I just think you gave bad advice and spoke up.

Ordered one at the end of October, should be shipping on the 15th Nov according to their site. I'll go mad if they announce some price drop to go with their new phone announcement on th 15th, if that is what's gonna happen.

I ordered a One Plus X earlier in the year. About a week later they reduced the price. I got an email a few days later saying that anyone who has bought in the previous two weeks would be getting a refund of the price reduction.

Took about 3 weeks but got €80 refunded to my card no problems at all.

The announcement is on the 15th? I went to order one on Monday but they are out of stock.

Well just going by what Dead posted on previous page, I'm just speculating. Do ya think they'll be back in stock soon? I'm very new to the OnePlus bandwagon. My S4 broke and needed a new phone, all fingers pointed to the OnePlus 3.

It sounds somewhat unlikely now and I think €480 (if that's the price of the newer model) might be a bit much for me.

If the rumours prove fully true, then one of the major issues is the availability of OMLED screens and the 3T is switching to QHD LCD. It sounds to me like the supply-chain issues with the LED is fueling the unavailability of the OP3 - if that persists, you might not see huge stocks of OP3 (if any) coming back on the market

Did that Carl Pei clown not have a tweet a few weeks ago saying that they would always use AMOLED or something similar?

He did, around mid-October. But it would make little sense to introduce a new phone (while Keeping the OP3) using the same screen technology when they are already in short supply for the existing phone - and the rumours continue abound on that front.

Unless of course they decide to drop production of OP3 temporarily (or otherwise) and redirect the supply-chain to the OP3T. Either way, unless they've somehow increased production it seems to me that they can't service both phones with the same screen.

I guess we'll know more in a week

You are right. But given that he was responding to rumours, he would have known by then. That is what annoys me.

They may have found a solution to their supply problems... heard to know really at this stage.

From an OP perspective they seem to be pushing the 3T out in order to take advantage of the VR market, particularly in advance of the Spring announcements from Samsung etc. I can't see any other major reason for this particular push at the moment (aside from the screen issue) - the main point being pushed is the new Snapdragon which is Daydream compatible, whereas the 820 isn't - probably ties in with Snapdragon making the formal announcement first.

They could have done a better editing job: :P
    DASH QUICK CHARGE TECHNOLOGY

Shipping with the energy efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, the Oneplus 3T battery fits perfectly into the sleek body. The energy efficient display features CABC and DRAM (Display RAM) technology that adjust the level of backlight and differentiate between dynamic and static content on your screen. These technologies reduce the power consumed and allow you to run all your apps and data services, all day long.

    Maybe €450.

but given Oppomart has it at $500 that works out about €450ish but as you know, we never get that conversion.

Pardon my ignorance but what is the difference between a OP3 and OP3T to justify the increased price?

Well tbh nobody knows as the OP3T has not been released yet.

Snapdragon 821 is the only improvement confirmed. Strong rumours about LCD screen but whether that's an improvement remains to be seen.

And rumoured improved camera and slightly bigger battery and I guess nogout out of the box.

It's also rumoured that there'll be a 128gb variant but it's not clear if thats going to be even more expensive than the rumoured base price - but one must assume it will be

Thanks, would the average joe soap (like me) notice the difference Snap dragon and Nougat would bring...?

Snapdragon no. The OS upgrade should come to the OP3 anyway - and I wouldn't even be worried about that - in the past OP software updates haven't improved performance much.

I'd say that the OP3T is largely an excuse to increase price as OP3 was selling well.

Thanks, I'm happy with my OP3 and the person I'm buying this one for will also be happy with an OP3, I just hope they have them back in stock in time to order for Christmas.
