What's John Kavanagh doing winding up the boards faithful this close to a fight?

He should be in the gym.

The real question is if he can do that to Jackson Souza at 23 years old, what on earth does he do to everyone in the gym :pac:

Maybe he could book a bus?

Don't think JJ Kavanagh would be too happy about that!

What's he doing in the gym 3 weeks from a fight?!

He should be in the gym!

I suppose it's normal but i love the mis-direction the top fighters put out in their VLOGS. In the run-up to the 2nd Diaz fight we didn't see Conor throw even one leg kick in any of the Mac Life footage yet as soon as the fight started it was leg-kick-city.

I'd imagine they are going to heavily attack the body of Alvarez early in the first and look to slip-and-counter.

How long ago was the above video filmed does anyone know?

That interview he gave to the ladbible a few weeks ago he looked a lot leaner in the face than he does above.

Anyway, less than 2 weeks to go now and I can't wait. I think Conor is going to target the body with teeps from the get go. I also think he'll be backing him up early and if Eddie does retreat to the cage then we will see Conor using the spinning back kicks to the body again.

Eddie recently said he knows how to take away Conor's counter punching style with the head weave so be interesting to see if he actually does have success on the feet. I just think he's tailor made for Conor with the reach and lead with the head punching style.

Then again anything can happen with 5oz gloves.

I think teeps will feature too, Alvarez seems to like to rush on in and I think he'll eat a lot of them. Leg kicks will play a part again too. I'm not at all impressed by Eddies boxing either, he clearly has power but its pretty wild. He swings for the fences and just puts his head down and windmills far too much. I think Conor wins it with a slip-lefthook OR... and this is a wildcard, left-of-field prediction... with a guillotine. :)

Alvarez is wild though, he just throws bombs, I don't see much he has other than a solid jaw and some wild power. Conor is too smart to stand and trade to give him that punchers chance...

He stood right in front of Mendes at times trading with him but i think that was adrenaline and feeling Mendes couldn't hurt him with punches.

He won't do the same with Alvarez. Also i think the days of Conor wasting energy talking to opponents, having conversations mid-fight in the Octagon are over. He did it in the Mendes and Diaz 1 fights and learned his lesson i think. Needless waste of energy and this new scientific approach wouldn't allow for it - unless maybe he feels he can wind Eddie up into making a mistake.

Alvarez boxing is underrated IMO but Conor clearly has the upper hand.

He's not as wild with his boxing in the UFC as he was in Bellator. He was wild in his first fight with Cerrone and got bullied and had his leg chopped off but other than that he was been very measured, bar when he smelled blood against RDA.

Yep. This. Although he got a bit reckless against Melendez a couple of times.

He only really unloaded on RDA because he had him in serious trouble. Still a risky strategy. If RDA weathered the storm, Alvarez would surely have flatlined for a round, if not 2. You simply can't sustain that sort of assault for long.

God I thought he was pretty poor against Cerrone... some very wild swings that left him wide open. He better be able to "take that left" because if he cant, this isn't going to last long. That seems to be Eddies thing though, he's 100% aggression and trusts to his chin to take anything that that leaves him open to (and he seems to be right on that score!). I think Conor is going to teep him until he wants to engage and pick him apart and disengage again. Eddies going to be swinging at where Conor was, all night. That's why I think a guillotine is a bizarre but possible outcome... I think Eddies going to get properly naffed off with that and decide to wrestle Conor (you heard his corner telling him to commit to his wrestling game against Cowboy when standup wasn't going his way). Eddies going to put his head down and charge the way he does and Conor might snag a choke off it. Either that or a nasty knee. Would be amazing if it was a choke hahah...

Eddie will be shooting from the bell, hes said it for years its the game he'd implement if he fought Conor and he will follow it through imo,or try at least, these comments alongside Mark Henry's comments on how good McGregor's striking is leads me to believe they wont be trying to trade much,

I think Mark Henry is one of the most overated personalities in MMA,his game planning against Aldo was garbage at 200,dont see anything special hes engineered his fighters to do,Alvarez sure became champ but he was under Hooft for years and wrestled his way to the title shot then landed a basic 1-2,think he gets too much credit.

Agree Henry over-rated and despite his apology i don't like how he behaved towards Conor and John all year really.

As for the Frankie - Aldo fight ....the gameplan did sort of suck but i just think Aldo has Frankies number. It's a mental thing as much as a tactical thing. Frankie froze on the big occasion.

It was one of the most tactical fights ive seen in ages and he had no answers he was eating straight right hands all night, you just know they had planned on counters Aldos jabs and low kicks all night and when that didn't happen they were dumbfounded,no change of plan mid fight just awful,

He's no coach Edmund or anything but he hasnt the credentials to match his reputation,he has no real martial arts accolades bar some army boxing,no grappling pedigree John Kavanagh is twice the mma coach he is and this battle of style and skill will prove it,

Looking forward to Henry's boiled piss after it too.

that's the thing thought i don't think he has ever claimed to be an MMA coach? Has he? He's a striking coach more than anything but he admits he has no knowledge of jiujitsu etc.

There's a prize on tomorrows MMA Hour of a ticket to UFC 205 to see McGregor in action. Better odds than winning the lottery anyway.

Even at that though ''striking coach'' he's mainly getting lads like Eddie when they are half way through their career Alvarez came from Hooft,I'd prefer Ludwig or Parillo tbh when it comes to striking coaches but then again what do I know,

Kavanagh gets a bit of stick but hes brought all his fighters up from nothing complete novices to the be on the verge of history 2 belts at once that wont be repeated anytime soon.

I wonder what odds would you get on Mcgregor knocking out Alverez in 13 seconds in Round 1?

Any more word on Conor's licence application in New York?

Dominic Cruz will beat Aldo for the 145 belt and have 2 belts very soon. I don't think Conor can be genuinely called a 2 weight consecutive world champ when it'll be 3 fights since he fought at 145. Really he is just keeping the belt for a pic

Well considering hes beaten every relevant 145er and only ko'd the only champ ever less than a year ago I dont see how it can be disputed,he is the best fighter on planet earth who can make 145 (which I still believe he can),you must class Aldo as the champion of the world at 145 so?

Cruz is talking about big super fights but as usual I dont see any proof, same with Jones going to HW,they all talk a good game.
