Ok youve brought this up enough so I'll ask.

If i read your criticisms, without seeing what was posted, id imagine some jock making fun of some really dark sad messages from people in need of desperate help. Ive received many of them. Ive never made any public but have done what i can. But my question is which of the messages i have posted would you have most grievance to? I'm pretty careful what i make public but also recognise im far from perfect so always willing to try and improve.

As for your incident of getting some mean messages. I get messages asking for pics of my fiancée, telling me my fag brother is going to hell, my girl only with me for money and that she cheats on me, my only worth is coaching conor, my coaching is ****, threats on me and my family....thats the daily stuff, oftentimes it's much darker. Gotta take the good with the bad eh?

There's privacy settings on FB for a reason. In fairness, you've gotten to the stage where you're a fairly big name both here and the U.S so you could use one of those fan pages instead of your own personal page.

Thats one of the downsides of being well known.

    Good luck at 205.

    Or is this 2010 again?

John: (Takes pen). Absolutely no hassle. What's your Boards username?

    Me: :o wonderfu.......

John: Let me demonstrate a front naked choke from guard instead......

Well you're hardly gonna say otherwise unless you want your Foundation BJJ class cancelled haha.

I thought watching hand-stand walking was a joy for you?

It finally happened. It's gone 180 degrees and nobody notices how surreal it is to have John commenting here anymore.
John was a regular contributor to the forum a few years ago. Posting on local events, general discussion. And later dropping hints about TUF and UFC signings, etc.

Have you been lurking the whole time Richy? Haven't noticed you posting in the last year or so.

Jesus out of all the topics to ask John and discuss someone's grievance with him gets centre stage.

We really don't appreciate things until their gone in this country. Love a good whinge.

I strongly object to John being added to the Pickem league. At least until Dec 31st. I'm sure jimmii would agree ;).

Good to see John responding in fairness. It was the one question I was disappointed not to see him answer.

As much as I disliked pendred originally I must have caught him on a bad day, fair ****s to him with chopped, creating so many jobs in the process and its fairly tasty.

JohnSBG - I want to fight McGregor, no cameras, no money......I just want to see if I can last 14 seconds to say I lasted longer that Aldo :) and boast that I got a pasting from Conor :)

Congrats on what you've achieved and how you've grown your gym, and best of luck in NYC.

For the fight against Alvarez (not advice for John..my thoughts), I've been looking at some of Eddie's fights, there are a couple of things that he does that are effective, his takedowns, his spinning elbow thing he likes, and flurries of punches. But I don't think these are any problem from McGregor, just maybe a load of take down attempts that he has to defend but shouldn't be a problem. I think he leaves himself way too open which will leave space for that left hand.

I'm not sure if Dana would call that left field tbh. For a start, the UFC would be looking for a share

What's the story with chopped?? Did pendred actually start it himself or does he just run a franchise? Or is he just the face of it?

Seems to be absolutely flying it. I know a few girls that swear by it.

He's one of a few lads who started the company as far as I know. It's not franchised yet, there's only a handful of them.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 7,269 ✭✭✭Gamebred

He'd not a founder or owner,he has 1 possibly 2 franchise's of the chopped brand Brian Lee is the owner of the company,

Pendred's win in Dublin was one of the best examples of heart in the cage, probably could've and should've been stopped and he toughed it out epic comeback that I'll never forget it,slag his skills all ya want but not many fighters will match his heart.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,210 ✭✭✭maximoose

He's a franchisee, Brian Lee and Andy Chen are the founders/owners
Mr Pendred was announced as a franchisee for the healthy food company in November and has spent the last number of months finding a suitable location.
The new outlet will open at the Westend Shopping Centre in Blanchardstown with seating for 52 people.

The opening represents an investment of over €250,000 in what is an equal partnership between Mr Pendred and Chopped.

Can you not make your Facebook page private or something? It might stop randomers messaging you like that.

When randomers that you aren't friends with message you though, don't they all go to an "Other" folder and you aren't notified? You won't see them on mobile, can only see them on a browser if you go looking for them- unless it has all changed.

John didn't invite questions and i didn't ask him for a reply to my "grievance".

Yeah, you're right we really don't appreciate things until they are gone in life. One of the most important things we don't realise what we have until they're gone are people. I'd rather stick to my convictions and fight for mental health awareness than shut my pie hole for fear of being called a whinger.

It's that "you're a bunch of whingers" mentality that sees so many young men afraid to speak up and ask for help. I'll stop whinging when there are no young men in this country hanging from trees.

    Anyway......

"If i could make it here,
    I could make it anywhere,
    That's what they say,
Seeing my face in lights or my name on Marquees on Broadway,
Even if it ain't all it seems,
I got a pocket full of dreams,
    baby, I'm from New York
Concrete Jungle where dreams are made of,
    there's nothing you can't do"

Best of skill Nov 12th John.

You're on some personal crusade. There is plenty of forums and threads about mental health.

You have a personal spat with John and you're arguing it out here on the McGregor thread.

You think everyone wants to read your argument?

I'm literally one of the biggest fans of McGregor and Kavanagh on this forum.

If you don't want to read it then move on. He's Conor McGregors coach it's the right thread for all opinions.

Are you reading it if you're commenting that people don't want to be reading it?
Very easy to just skip past the posts or even add to ignore list if it annoys you that much.

I enjoy the fact that there's some legible posting happening for a change instead of the 27 pages a day of McGregor/Mayweather, Dee's pregnant, Conor's a bum he beat no one etc and all the other drivel that fills 99% of this thread

So what if you're his biggest fan. What's that got to do with you having an argument with John?

Why should I move on from a thread about McGregor because you want to argue some point with him?

Start a thread about John kavanagh?

Is there not a better conversation to have with though instead of this?

I'm gonna say this for the last time.

I did not ask John for a reply, an opinion or a debate. I don't "wan't to argue with him".

He chose to reply to my posts.

This is an MMA forum, if you want to discuss mental health in depth there are plenty of other places on boards more appropriate to do so with people looking to engage in that discussion. The focus here is on MMA so lets keep it on track.
