If he beats Alvarez, which I think he will, I'd love to see him defend both belts once and then walk away. Let's say he goes down and puts the Aldo story to bed. Knocks him out again. Then goes back up to defend against the top contender at the time, Khabib perhaps (The unbeaten monster from Russia who's set to rule the division for years). Then that's it. Retire with both belts at once and in time for Christmas 2017. What a badass way to go out that would be.

What's the rush? it's like looking forward to the day Messi hangs up his boots......both will never be replaced for the 'overall' impact they've had in their respective sports

Messi doesn't get punched in the head repeatedly.

People who want to see McGregor retire early are people who think health is wealth. Besides the fact he has plenty enough money to sit on his arse doing nothing!

Personally i don't think he's taken much damage in his career. A string of 1st round KO's and one war in 25 fights is really unusual.

He's 28 but compare that to his friend Mousasi who is 31 and has been in countless wars.

If he's motivated and healthy i think he can continue for another 5 years if he wants to but i have a feeling he will retire before he hits 30.

He will retire early - and make about 10 comebacks for mega money!

Get in, make your money and get out. It only takes 1 bang to the head to star brain damage.

If he goes out in a high he can move into movies etc

They're much cheaper when you're renting them.

Or giving them for free, look how much coverage they get . BMW i8 etc, bloggers can get 150k for an instragram product placement

I know he's made a point of repeating he intends to get out of the game young but i think he likes money too much to be going anywhere before he's 32. So we should have him until 2020 anyway.

He mentioned a $40 million year income wise but i'm going to guess that's a pre-tax number. Those cars don't come cheap and you can tell for certain he's got his eyes on a private jet and a yacht.

He could start an agency and make plenty of commission of fighters

Watching the 202 fight again. Can't watch it without getting annoyed at Rogan. Generally have a lot of time for him and think he adds a lot, but his stupid squealing over nothing is so annoying.

Conor's big announcement is that he is launching his own gym or something to the equivalent

Rogan is a Diaz fanboy. Conor was tagging Nate with shots and Rogan wasn't doing any squealing but at the end of the third when McGregor was doing the rope-a-dope Joe was going wild. However if you look at it closely McGregor wasn't getting tagged at all that much by Diaz in that exchange.

Rogan's bias definitely skewed the fight toward Nate in the eyes of neutrals.

agreed, i have to mute it.

I said it at the time - it's the most biased call i've heard. Conor dropped Nate 3 times in the opening 8 minutes. The first one Rogan said "he tagged him". The second one he said "he tagged him". Third one "he hurt him".

I can't think of any other fight i've watched this year where Rogan doesn't shriek "ohhhh!" when someone drops their opponent. He even went to the extent of trying to blame "the leg kicks" as the reason Nate was falling. He caught himself and added "and conors hard, accurate punches". Which was roughly the equivalent of Donald Trump saying "these women are accusing me to try get rich." followed by "and the fact i grabbed them by the P".

In contrast, Nate had 2 good flurries of activity in the whole fight and Rogan went berserk for both of them.

It's his job to impartially call a fight to let casual fans know what's happening. He utterly failed to do that in this call. He completely refused to acknowledge Conors takedown trip in Round 5 yet screamed like a girl immediately when Nate got Conor down.

Conor is no fool. He ripped the Mic out of Rogans hands at the weigh-ins and post-fight interview. I can envisage a similarly frosty exchange with Rogan for UFC 205.

What i really dislike is that in the months leading up to UFC 202, Rogan was hanging out with Nate Diaz on at least 2 occasions. He invited Nate to his comedy show and they partied afterwards and there was another one on snapchat of them all hanging out.

It's unprofessional to be hanging around with a fighter who's fight you're supposed to be calling down the middle. By all means, go get stoned or baked off your noodle post-fight but at least be a professional for the 25 minutes first.

Complete over-reaction,get over it Rogan admits to being bias he said he tries not to be,it annoyed me at the time but if hes friends with Nate how is that unprofessional hes not judging the fight he can hang out with whoever he likes, you must remember Joe is a good friends with Dana who Conor isnt as friendly with anymore so there's that too.

He has one job he gets paid 7 figures a year to do.

Sit and watch a fight, analyse it without bias.

Simple stuff. If you don't see how getting stoned and drinking with one fighter multiple times before the fight doesn't lead to insane bias then there's nothing i can say to you.

I don't think it'd be right in any other sports either. If Marty Morrissey was out on the lash with Bernard Brogan in Lillies 3 times in the lead-up to the All-Ireland final, and gave an insane-biased call in Dublins favour, that'd be equally unprofessional.

There's nothing in Rogan's job description that has he has to be neutral. He's the colour commentator.
Commentators in sport are biased all the time. It doesn't affect the outcome in anyway.

This and also the fact that he was more high pitched for Diaz's flurries were at a time when McGregor was dominating the fight and looked like he was going to beat him easily.

Agree with the comments that Rogan's squealing is annoying but I think he does a very good job in hiding his bias and calling it down the line. Take his commentary of one of his best friends' fights in Brendan Schaub for example.

@JohnSBG I don't know how you do it. you are like a double adapter of sorts - training multiple fighters (including the best fighter on the planet), running a gym, media obligations, writing your book and most importantly, stacking up all that money! Great credit to you both pal and best of luck in new york where we will see history made and the philadelphia brawler will have his head handed to Dana on a silver platter. To the Fighting Irish!!!

Thanks for all the well wishes guys. Its a badly overused cliché but as we approach the end of this final mesocycle with only a handful of sessions left before leaving for NY next weekend to begin the taper down i could not be happier with how the camp has gone and the improvements made. Nov 12th we'll be bringing that 2nd belt home.
