    Don't bench Cameron.

I've committed to not getting Walcott until GW13 at the earliest.

So to start Valencia or Amat?

Valencia. Swansea have had 1 clean sheet in their last 13 PL games. Amat has 5 clean sheets registered in Fantasy since joining Swansea in 2013/2014. He is bench fodder and nothing more until Swansea get their act together (which is looking increasingly unlikely).

    Ludogarets (A) - Europe
    INTL BREAK
    United (A) - tough - agreed
    Spurs (H) - tough
    - derby, averaged just less than 3 goals a game for last 2 seasons in PL
    PSG (H) - Europe
    Bournemouth (H) - rotation risk
    good fixture

Not sure I want 2 Arsenal mids through that run

Doesn't look too bad to me, United game is the only 1 I don't like due to Mourinho killing big games. Depending on how CL results go the PSG game may end up the one with players being rested

Want to get Lallana in for Puncheon as I need Liverpool coverage.

Also need to get rid of one of Foster/Evans/Collins for -4, thinking of Pieters or Grant as Stoke have a nice run coming up. Looks like Collins as he is due another drop and isnt starting anymore but not liking having double WBA still. Any word on when Butland is back?
Is it worth a -4 for Stoke defence over those mentioned?

Yup, struggling big time myself. I've doubled up as a blocker move really.

Giroud/Ramsey are due back too so some rotation to come no doubt. Hopefully Arsenal/PSG win tonight and then they're pretty much a done deal in the CL group.

If that happens, PSG is the last big European leauge game, which comes after United in the league. Following that in Bournemouth (H) which could see Sanchez/Walcott rested. So that would see their November being....

You have ManU and Spurs reversed, but I'm starting to entertain the thought of Sanchez to KDB GW11. Boro H could be a bloodbath and Sanchez doesn't look as good following international breaks this season as last

    "Next month"

I think Collins to Pieters for a hit could pay off, wouldn't do Foster to Grant

I generally like to spread my options but when a team is performing I have no pb in doubling/trebling up (e.g. think I had Sanchez Ramsey Giroud at some point a couple of years ago and it did me good for a period of time).

I'd ask your question differently though. What would you do with these 3+m? Premium def are not justifying enough their premiumity so far. Upfront, Ibra does not justify his price tag too. Ditto Hazard in midfield.

So far and considering the mid-term fixtures, I'd build my team around Sanchez Walcott 'Pool mid Ag ero. Because these 4 players not only are good and have good FPL history but they play in attack-minded teams that are going to score goals. Of course there're gonna be GWs when it'll all conspire (peno miss, play against Mourinho bus, post int break fatigue, be the only attacking player not to be involved, etc...).
So, If I had to sacrifice some , I'd start with the other 11 players of the squad :p.

Now, for Arsenal 2 tough games (TOT, mun), the good thing is City offer MID, cpl. So a Sanchez -> KDB or Walcott -> Sterling for these 2 games could work a treat.
Iroced - to answer fully, my current squad:
    Pickford, Valdes
    Holebas, Cameron, Amat, Baines, Walker
    Sanchez, Firmino, Bolaise, Puncheon, Capoue
    Aguero, Lukaku, Deeney
    2.0 m itb

GKs, could be improved on but not priority. I'm happy with defence other than Baines (thinking to move to Bellerin, if i free up funds).
MF - Firmino is a definite keeper. Puncheon and Capoue to be moved on at next opportunity, Bolaise I think will prove to be great value, I would like to rejig this MF so he becomes my 4th mid.
I am considering Sanchez and Puncheon > Walcott and Alli. This leaves me with 2.6m to improve Baines, or even upgrade Lukaku to Ibra for Burnley at home. Or else, I do Baines this week and decide whether to move Capoue/Puncheon in the next week or two.

Or lastly, I take the safe/boring/no hit option of doing Bolasie > Theo, leaving me with an Arsenal double up, I'll want to change very soon and not much in the way of funds to improve the rest of the team.

I honestly can't remember being so confused in this game!

I've decided to wait too and see how Walcott is fixed for the Xmas period then (happy captain memories and also some sad ones more recently !)
Having bellerin and Sanchez will be enough for now
May even consider Sanchez to Walcott at that point
Defo getting firmino in this week
Been riding my luck in main league without him

Looking for a Baines replacement as it looks like his hammy has gone again.

My other defenders are Kos, Amat, Holebas, Lovren.

    Thinking Pieters. Any other suggestions?

Go for Pieters, great fixtures and only 4.4, I'll be getting him in also.

Or Cameron, listed as a defender but playing as a midfielder and he could easily have scored twice in his last two games.

    I can't believe this November :D.

Let's push up the comparison game.

    Arsenal
    01/11 - Ludogarets (a)
    06/11 - Spurs (H) [GW11]
    INTL BREAK
    10/11 - Colombia - Chile [WC18 Q] (Sanchez)
    11/11 - England - Scotland [WC18 Q] (Walcott)
    15/11 - England - Spain [friendly] (Walcott)
    16/11 - Chile - Uruguay [WC18 Q] (Sanchez)

    19/11 - United (a) [GW12]
    23/11 - PSG (H)
    27/11 - Bournemouth (H) [GW13]

    City
    01/11 - Barça (H)
    05/11 - Middlesborough (H) [GW11]
    INTL BREAK
    09/11 - Netherlands - Belgium [friendly] (KDB)
    11/11 - England - Scotland [WC18 Q] (Sterling)
    11/11 - Brazil - Argentina [WC18 Q] (Agüero)
    13/11 - Belgium - Estonia [WC18 Q] (KDB)
    15/11 - England - Spain [friendly] (Sterling)
    16/11 - Argentina - Colombia (Agüero) [WC18 Q]

    19/11 - Palace (a) [GW12]
    23/11 - M'Gladbach (a)
    26/11 - Burnley (a) [GW13]

And now let's look at these 4 players.
    • Sanchez has an horrible run. The only one with 2 "real" international games. Chile are 7th (out of 10) with IIRC top 4 to qualify directly and 5th to play an "easy" playoff. They're not far off but these 2 games are going to be vital for them!
    • KDB has a better run. Almost 2 home games with Belgium (only one important and it's home to Estonia). He'll also be back 3 days before Sanchez!!!
    • Walcott & Sterling also have an easier run than Sanchez with 2 resting days less than KDB, though that'll depend on their involvement in the friendly with Spain.
Now, City and Arsenal are actually perfect opposite. Arsenal have a tough run in the league and an esay one in CL. They'll just play for their group top spot home to PSG. While City have a great run in the league but a very tough one in CL. They have to take 4 pts vs Barça if they want to top their group (and well recent history showed how bad the draw could be for them when they finish 2nd). So the 'Boro glorious fixture could see unexpected rotation.
    • By the way, I also added Agüero's run and it's as horrible as Sanchez. And Argentina also are in troubles. Only 5th and playing badly. So, I'm afraid GW12 will be a GW8 repeat for our 2 south american stars...
    -

So yeah Sanchez -> KDB is really tempting from GW11-13. Considering he's just back from injury and his soft international program, he should be fresh enough not to be rested after the 2 Barça games (and particularly the return one).

    Pickford, Mandanda
    Williams, Holebas, Walker, Friend, Amat
    Sanchez, Capoue, Sterling, Snod, Fletcher
    Aguero, Costa, Lukaku

I have 1 FT. Any suggestions- particularly in defence or midfield. Was close to doing Capoue to Allen before the rise but decided against it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,735 ✭✭✭sheroman01

    2 FTs

Defoe out for Bony or Lukaku?

    Evans out for Stoke defender?

Anyone else thinking of taking a chance on Bony? Anyone see him play lately? I personally forgot he existed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,570 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Aguero doesn't start for City tonight which is interesting. How often can we expect this to happen? He is on the bench so it's not an injury, or at least not a serious one.

Yeah am contemplating getting him in. He looked very good against Sunderland in the highlights I saw. Could be just about to go on a run of good form with those wonderful fixtures.

Also thought he looked good and primed for points
Considering it .......also have shaquiri though but realistically I'll move him on soon so then would still have stoke attacker for run of lovely fixtures
    They played well at weekend
Callum Wilson is a million cheaper though
But when I sell Ibra that won't matter as much !
Need to look at figures closer before I decide

Right. Let's see who you'd be fielding.

GKs. Not great but no huge rush too.

    Defs.
Walker = premium so he plays.
Cameron = Stoke glorious run, good for the next 5 games at least.
Holebas = good form & fixtures, good for the next 2.
So it gives you time to assess Baines. Plus he's only on ~-15%.

    Mids.
Firmino = 'Pool on good form, play well, have good fixtures. Keeper & starter.
Sanchez = premium, good form, great next 2 fixtures. K&S.
Capoue = THE 5th mid of this start of the season. Not a priority selling unless you're desperate for cash.

    Fwds.
    You're grand.

That leaves Bolasie & Puncheon. I don't rate both of them very high. Puncheon did me good for short period of time in the past but just as a punt.

So, I'd either get Walcott for Bolasie (£0.1m left ITB, boring strategy :p) or, if you really fancy Bolasie, Walcott for Puncheon and downgrade Baines to Lovren for example. 'Pool have a superb run of fixtures coming and he's only £4.9m. £0.2m left ITB.

About your proposed move, it's not a bad one but I'm a bit of a Sanchez groupie :p and with Walcott & 'Pool mids form I find it hard to find a spot for Alli. To upgrade from Bolasie you'd need to find £2.0m somewhere. If you got Capoue from the start you can get £0.5m from getting either Fletcher or Whelan as a playing cheap 5th mid bench fodder. Depending when you got Deeney you can save £0.5-0.7m by getting Austin or Wilson instead (though their respective immediate fixtures are not as good as Deeney's ones). And that's only stretching your bank to max £1.4m.

Oh and Bellerin for Baines. £6.5m is a lot of money for a def this year. With Walker you already have a super premium def. I'm not sure 2 is essential right now.

So, as I mentioned in my City vs Arsenal November fixtures comparison, I'd only consider selling Sanchez GW11 (KDB looks the ideal candidate right now) and also reassess Alli then. The question you could ask yourself is will Alli outscore Sanchez in his next 2 games?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 858 ✭✭✭mectavba

Yes, you have more or less typed out my current thinking. Veering towards just doing Bolasie > Walcott. Taking a hit on a defender I do not necessarily need does not seem worth it. It will mean playing Puncheon v Leicester A, where I don't see any points coming from. Puncheon seemed a good idea about a month ago. I read he had created the most chances without being scored in the league (or something like that). I thought with Benteke in the team they would link up well. I haven't seen much of Palace, so don't really know how it's gone other than he's got me no points.

I am sort of eager to move Baines on. It feels like a waste of money to have on my bench. On the other hand, he surely isn't too far from a return into what is a solid looking Everton defence, with potential attacking returns to boot. I might just hold on while Stoke and Watford have nice fixtures.

If he is fit, I have a something of a selection dilemma. I definitely won't start Amat, Swansea look awful defensively. Walker is a dead cert, Baines (if fit also). Holebas and Cameron have nice away fixtures, but Holebas probably more of an attacking threat.

    Perhaps 4-3-3 and drop Puncheon?

I'm about 70% certain of tossing Antonio for Walcott this week for a -4 (I brought in Allen for Bojan earlier in week). I'd like to hold onto Antonio this week for the Sunderland fixture and not take a hit but it's come down to whether he'll be in defence or not.

    What do you reckon?

Kept him and decided to sell Sterling instead (for Walcott). Hopefully he doesn't play RB.

As part of a mini-WC to ditch Baines & Ibra. Getting a bit nervous about Aguero that I'm finally getting back in. I hope there's no pb with Guardiola. Found it strange he did not play yesterday...

I'm thinking Sterling to Arnautovic, give him a week and see how he gets on and then possibly Arnie to Stanislas the following gameweek if he blanks. Extra funds would give be pretty beneficial.

What to do with Leighton Baines? Not too many defenders in the 5.5 price range jumping out at me.

Lads love some help if possible, heres the team

    Heaton-Foster
    Robertson-Daniels-Shaw-Friend-Wasielski
    Silva-Walcott-Firminho-Capoue-Townshend
    Aguero-Lukaku-Gray

    Have 1m in the bank

    Thinking
    Roberston-> Walker
    Townshend->Stansilas
    Gray->Austin

Is it worth taking a -4 to get those 3 in?

Just got Clyne in for Friend myself. Looking for both attacking and defending returns. Would you consider another Everton player? Might be worth just hanging on though if he's back the week after next.

I'd say Walker is a must.....assuming he's not a rotation risk (?). Verthongen is around the same price i think and seems slightly more nailed on, esp with Alderweireld out.

It's probably time to get rid of Gray alright ;)....might be worth seeing if Austin starts tonight before doing anything. Deeney is a good alternative imho.

Not sure if it's worth a hit to bring in Stanislas tbh....and Townsend could explode and/or self-implode at any given moment

    Don't like the -4 idea.
If you did Capoue to a 4.3/4.4 what would you do with the other FT?
