If I want Walcott I can spend up to 4.6 I think but was still considering a 4.3m guy especially if you have a playing fifth def. like Amat say. I think it's a good move.
Just do Kightly, as long as you have a decent 4th defender you'll be fine until Christmas rotation

Cheers fellas, done. Midfield is now:

    Firmino Sterling Sanchez Walcott

Great set of fixtures this GW, so I look forward to inevitable crushing disappointment.

Goodbye Lamine Kone, you served me remarkably badly.

Hello Dejan Lovren, you have very small boots to fill.

Thinking of upcoming transfers, for this coming gameweek who would you bench ?

    Holebas away to Swansea
    Or
    Austin away to man city

Very hard as I hate benching strikers but with this choice I'd bench Austin.

Holebas, but you must have 3 great defenders for him to be your 4th choice

Holebas. Never bench a striker on pens

I'm considering playing my AOA. It would be play AOA with Austin or leave it out and play Holebas.

    3 great defenders - that's a myth this season ;)

Doing Mane to Walcott for a hit just doesn't feel right.

Or am I being too patient with Mane?

    Playing Allen over Austin?
    I wouldn't AOA then

He was nonexistent yesterday but isn't there history that pacy wingers do well against WBA? I wouldn't lose him this week although personally I don't think he's worth 9m since he's very streaky and has also not been doing well in the bonus when he does score.

It is Allen against a hull team that can't stop the ball going into their own net

I'll be giving him only 1-2 more weeks to prove himself or else I'll be getting him out for Hazard.

Already did Baines to Holebas to free up funds. Is it worth doing Son to Walcott for -4. Have only had him a week. Didn't see the game last night was he any good?

Friend to Clyne at the moment the plan. Capoue to Fletcher or Whelan if he looks like dropping. So Zlatan rides again. May hang on to Burnley game at this rate. Don't worry Friend you'll be back in my team after you get through your next few toughies.

I watched the 2nd half and he was poor but then again the whole spurs team bar Rose were shocking in 2nd half. He looked v tired which isn't surprising given the traveling and games he had with Korea.

I think the ship has sailed on Son and he's good run has more or less finished.

Arsenal have a good run of fixtures and Walcott is on better from than Son. I have both but I'm looking at options for Son.

I know a lot seem to like doubling up with Sanchez and Walcott, but I don't like the idea of investing so much in Arsenal attack....especially with all of the other teams performing so well around them. Also, they have 2 very tough games v Spurs & Man Utd coming up, which leads me to my question....

Is Sanchez worth the extra 3+m over Walcott?

Walcott is in better (fantasy) form, has scored more points and Sanchez doesn't look at his best playing up front. Neither are on set pieces. If you knew nothing about either player's history, you would pick Walcott and 3+m without question.

BUT.....we all know that Walcott has these short very purple veins of form, but rarely maintains it over a season (or even half a season. Sanchez is the superior player and on previous evidence will give more points.

I am looking at the improvements I can make to the rest of my team picking Walcott over Sanchez and it is very tempting to ride the Theo wave while it lasts and hope that Sanchez doesn't go on a ridiculous run.

Anyone else struggling with Theo v Sanchez???

Contemplating cashing in on Capoue and bringing in Allen for the Hull game.

Also contemplating further on bringing in Deeney (swa, HUL) for Benteke for a hit....Palace have pretty tough fixtures coming up so don't see big returns from him in the short to medium term.

Worth taking a hit for Allen & Deeney?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 858 ✭✭✭mectavba

Deeney makes sense, but I don't see the point in wasting 4 points on bringing in Allen. I reckon his latest scoring spree is an aberration and think you would be looking to ship him out before long. Although I did say the same about Capoue after 2 weeks.

Cheers - yeah....leaning more towards Deeney alright....the fact that he's on penos as well makes it a no brainer....oh wait  ;)

Actually might look at a Stoke defender instead....I'm determined to take a hit this week it seems

    Valencia

This is what I'm on atm too.

I also bought Austin. You're getting in my head!! :)

    Plus Austin's stats are great.

    @ mectavba

I generally like to spread my options but when a team is performing I have no pb in doubling/trebling up (e.g. think I had Sanchez Ramsey Giroud at some point a couple of years ago and it did me good for a period of time).

I'd ask your question differently though. What would you do with these £3+m? Premium def are not justifying enough their premiumity so far. Upfront, Ibra does not justify his price tag too. Ditto Hazard in midfield.

So far and considering the mid-term fixtures, I'd build my team around Sanchez Walcott 'Pool mid Agüero. Because these 4 players not only are good and have good FPL history but they play in attack-minded teams that are going to score goals. Of course there're gonna be GWs when it'll all conspire (peno miss, play against Mourinho bus, post int break fatigue, be the only attacking player not to be involved, etc...).
So, If I had to sacrifice some £, I'd start with the other 11 players of the squad :p.

Now, for Arsenal 2 tough games (TOT, mun), the good thing is City offer MID, cpl. So a Sanchez -> KDB or Walcott -> Sterling for these 2 games could work a treat.

Aguero isn't justifying his price tag either. He has the same points as Ibra and costs almost 2 million more.

I know but as I previously posted, you have to look at the detail here.

Ibra played 8 times 90 min. His nonchalance on the pitch is unbearable. If Mourinho is on to park the bus to try and regain a bit of collective confidence, United may not be an interesting FPL prospect upfront at all.

Agüero only played 5 full (and > 60 min) games. He missed a pen in his cameo appearance at the week-end. That happens. In these 5 games, there's an away blank to Spurs. Tough game, that happens too. He plays in a Guardiola team and gives it all on the pitch.

So far, Agüero stats are misleading in my opinion. If there're the same in 5 games (2 tests and 3 easy fixtures), I'll reassess but not now.

I've committed to not getting Walcott until GW13 at the earliest.

So to start Valencia or Amat?

Yup, struggling big time myself. I've doubled up as a blocker move really.

Giroud/Ramsey are due back too so some rotation to come no doubt. Hopefully Arsenal/PSG win tonight and then they're pretty much a done deal in the CL group.

If that happens, PSG is the last big European leauge game, which comes after United in the league. Following that in Bournemouth (H) which could see Sanchez/Walcott rested. So that would see their November being....
    Ludogarets (A) - Europe
    United (A) - tough
    Spurs (H) - tough
    PSG (H) - Europe
    Bournemouth (H) - rotation risk

Not sure I want 2 Arsenal mids through that run
