Philip announces a death, just to set the right tone for the Ray D'Arcy show.

I really hope Philip Boucher Hayes doesn't take over from Joe,he is appalling, his voice is just so unsuitable for radio, too drawley.I want to lie down after listening to him but unfortunately am usually in the car when Dead line is on.

Did anyone hear him today,He past on his condolences to his colleague on the death of his father.Poor man isn't even buried yet and PWH says he is hoping to see his colleague back to work asap.He is a total twat.

is Joe going somewhere? (other than his 100 days holidays of course)

I hope Joe isn't going anywhere and if PBH replaces him I will find another channel to listen to.

Joe is very good in that role and can be very funny.

He is certainly going nowhere of his own accord especially when RTÉ pay his company €416,893 in annual fees (€8k a week) from the most recent figures released for 2014. I can't see BBC or Newstalk getting in to any kind of bidding war, he is no Terence Wogan.

I do agree with you that he is very funny but never when he tries to be, laughing at him not with him so to speak :D

He is easy to listen to.I like him,I would think he is a decent human being.

I don't like looking and listening to him though.I prefer him on the radio.

I have a list of presenters I can't stand and Miriam O Callaghan tops it,she is unbearable.

Philip has become the Marie Louise O'Donnell of Liveline.
He is a male version of Senator Marie Louise O Do...so to speak

George (wheezy)Hook.Jesus get to the point George before I switch you off.

Mary Wilson(boring),Aine Lalor, boring and she has a horrible laugh.Ray Darcy, cannot fathom how anyone would pay him to rabbit on the airwaves.

Katherine Thomas, dreadful.Ryan Tubridy,Jesus wept.Cant believe the Bbc took him on for the summer and hoped they would keep him.

I like Ronan Collins though,I could listen to his show all day.

Derek Mooney and Brenda Donoghue made me want to kill myself, thank god they are gone.

He played four Chuck Berry songs today. He has a best friend for life. Provided he stops playing Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr and co.

Ah stop will ya! What I wouldn't give to turn on the wireless and hear some of that auld Limerick guff from that absolute gentleman once again, The BBC will never be as good as when Terry Wogan was alive and entertaining people in their millions! He wasn't a nice man - He was a lovely man and the type of gentleman that the rest of us(Men) can only aspire to be.

I liked Derek on the afternoon slot but it was just too gayed up even for someone who was once referred to as the Queen o' Carlaa, he tried to hard over the gay marriage thing and the complaints from the catholic cults came flooding in.

I remember when that magazine started, they had an office over the International Bar where I was a regular drinker. One day one of the "editors" came down to the bar to complain that there was no toilet roll in the upstairs loo that the office staff were using…..can you guess what we told him to use?

I just read the "guff" above the "HEY JOE" headline:

JOE DUFFY INVITES US INSIDE HIS CLONTARF HOME TO SHARE THE STORIES BEHIND HIS OWN ARTWORK.

    I have just 2 questions:
    1. Is there any ceiling to this man's ego and self-importance?
    2. Was there no space left in the Guggenheim of the MOMA for Joe's artistry so to speak?

Exactly what I'm thinking. He was a bit tetchy, nay smarmy, last night. He might be losing it and now doing a John from Cork, using a different name to get on shows these days.

Ah you do realise someone like Colm McCarthy (or for example Mary O'Rourke) get a fee anytime they appear on radio, so the chances of him dialing in under a pseudonym are pretty much zero.

Mary O'Rourke is on Newstalk so much she's probably taking home more than most of the staff there.

Is he not fundamentally decent.I think he was a social worker in a previous life and to do that job even for a week means you must want to help other people. He just seems more down to earth than most of the other presenters.

If I had known Derek of the Bluetits fame was going to be replaced by Ray Darcy I wouldn't have been so pleased to hear he was going.Whats with Ray Darcy and suicide.I was in someone else's house last week so couldn't turn him off,he spoke to a bereaved by suicide relative for the first thirty five minutes of the show and I learned nothing knew.Is there any evidence at all that talking incessantly about suicide makes a whit of difference to the statistics or does even talking about it so much actually contribute to more people taking their own lives.

Mary, I have news for you. The man you have placed on a pedestal is far from what you think he is. He has somewhat skillfully and fraudulently created this public impression of himself as a man of the people and a fixer of sorts for those that have no voice; when the reality is he is a champagne socialist of the worst kind, a hypocrite, a parasite, a bully, a mé-féiner, and in the mess that is the state broadcaster his is a rather large part of the problem, rather than the solution. Had I more time I'd give you more insight into the "chancer" (to use a word the man himself uses) that he is.

Journalist Ian O'Doherty recently wrote that Duffy is "thick and proud of it". I think he was actually being kind to him.

As for D'Arcy and suicide, he has a passing interest in compared to Duffy who is obsesses with the subject (and also death and misery, ideally all in the one caller's story).

You're new here. I'll post a shall we say "compendium" of some of my own comments and postings on Mr. Duffy later. The opinions posted above are my own, but you'll find I'm not alone in thinking them.
