Uncle Joe liked a nice lump of steak.

    No to both.

Add John Adams to the list.

    Unlikely answer but:-

They were all second at something notable

John Landy was the 2nd man to break the 4 min mile barrier
John Adams was the 2nd president of the USA
Josef Stalin was the 2nd premier of the USSR
James Garfield was the 2nd president of the USA to be assassinated
Marla Marples was the 2nd wife of Donald Trump

Erm----Bill Clinton always played a 2nd ball off the tee (a Mulligan)

Bill was the second president impeached.

Well done. I thought I was going to have to resort to adding Buzz Aldrin to the list.

Well done garancafan. I'll second all that.

Srameen should have added Mayo, perpetually second best football team in Ireland.

That would have required some GAA knowledge on my part and my knowing who the best team is; which I don't.

One for the sad day that's in it:-

    What was Anthony Foley's nickname?

He and Keith Wood played hurling for which club?

Axel it was. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

I know Woodsie grew up in Killaloe. (I've had a few beverages with his Dad Gordon there).

Could it have been Killaloe GAA club?

I'll take that. It's officially called Smith O'Briens.

    Motorcycling

Motorcycling it was. Isle of Man TT racing to be specific. Stanley later had the distinction of selling garancafan his first little Suzuki from his shop in Ship Street.

Well done Srameen. Rev up and give us another one.

Could I just ask... The thread title says 'The all new, revised and easier quiz! (mod note posts 1 and 2042)', but post 2042 is just a question. What am I missing? Thanks.

No-one is 'taking the Michael' Srameen, no more than is the normal level of light-hearted contribution to this thread anyway.

Ok, to move on, the answer is Manx Sheerwater, I will ask another question in a new post.

Mod: note to all contributors: if you choose to answer questions, please be willing to ask them too.

Must be some counting error someplace

There is indeed an error in the link to post #2042. Bonzodog2 has quoted post #2042 correctly. The original is on page 137.

Sports not my forte but keeping with the theme.

What women's outdoor track and field event has a world record that dates all the way back to 1983?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,034 ✭✭✭garancafan

You wouldn't be thinking of the women's 10,000 m which, prior to Rio, had a world record standing since 1993?

No because I said 'has' and 1983.
