What have Irish men got against trousers? Why does it always have to be jeans or tracksuit bottoms?

...and not only do I have trousers, but even a pair bootcut ones (that I've started wearing again) along with other wide leg types.

heres apparently 10 awfully dressed men, no.4 and no.10 I think look awful, but most of them I fail to see the problem, No.1 allegedly 'the worst' looks very reasonable to me.

GQ pundits - seriously, have they nothing better to be doing - if I had my way, I'd have such "experts" drafted into the army!

GQ pundit; a form of life pond slime looks down upon.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

Let's hope Brexit brings about the collapse of the EU and takes us back to the good old days of continuous war and unrest on the continent so that we can rid ourselves of skinny jeans.

Seriously, old fellas think young fellas fashion is ridiculous is a long running theme.

It might make older fellas feel clever that they figured out how to dress and now young fellas are making a mess of it, but it's just the refrain of older fellas for generations.

In my day skinny jeans were called skags and I wore nothing else from 13 to my early 20's but when I look around now and see men in their 30's / 40's wearing skinny jeans, it just looks ridiculous to me. In 2013 Paul Costelloe wore a pair on TLLS.

Nowadays I wear TH's Mercer jeans (below). Have a dozen or so pairs in a few differ colours, dark denim, faded and black also. I'm like that in that if I find something that I like, I'll buy tons of them. I like Camel t-shirts for example and so will only buy them. Found a pair of Nike docker boots I liked and bought four pairs of them when I found out that they stopped making them. I fcuking hate clothes shopping in general though and so just tend to buy online when I can.

Especially the 40's. Straight leg no bother but skinny jeans no way.

My sons age group are big into the skinny jeans, late teens. Some of them are so tight i wonder how the hell then get into them in the first place. They must have to be dropped from a height into them.

I go for even looser fit clothes myself, but it's a hell of a lot better than much of what I see around these days - at least the above presentation doesn't look comical - even if such doesn't stand the test of time, it shouldn't cause embarrassment looking back in 20 years time.

I've never paid any attention to fashion myself. My job has always been in one of those "business casual - in theory" type places so anything fancier than jeans and a shirt (even for management) would have people asking you how the interview was
It's a shame really because I do like wearing a suit, but then there's the cost of buying multiple decent ones and what I don't spend on bills these days, my 4 year old takes off me!

I've never been a tracksuit wearer though and don't own any runners either - just never appealed to me at all.. even when relaxing at home! Shoes or boots FTW

I did have an ex though who tried to redo my wardrobe early on, but I thought it was ridiculous trying to dress me like a 20 year old when I was a good decade+ older than that. I tried not to read into it either when I met her ex who wore exactly that kinda stuff (and had since come out as well) :p

Your ex had no business telling you what to wear - it should be a case of your other half accepting you as you are or just buggering off - in short, a 'take it or leave it' approach!

IME there is always tinkering to some degree in a relationship. Rarely have I seen 2 people merge seamlessly without some changes in 1 or both of them.

That seems like the biggest, rushed, hatchet job imaginable. Must have been a slow day.

True, but it's one thing taking advice and making subtle changes - it's quite another when one half only seems to consider what he/she wants with no regard for the other's preferences.

I know they look better, but Im no longer flamboyant :(

Slim fit jeans (not skinny, plenty of ballbag room) and a shirt that is what I wear pretty much all the time.

Some of the clobber you see in some shops is absolutely **** looking, and you would be mistaken for been in the women's section.

Are sizes getting bigger? I've always been a medium but there seems to be more belly room in clothes now. Don't think I've lost much weight.

Smaller if anything, I used to be 2.5 stone heavier than I am now (13.5) and I would struggle to find anything to fit me even XXL in the main brands for my age (25-30). I'd go between a medium and large now, for example Gap would have what I call realistic sizing. Sizing in top man or river island or something not that I even wear their clothes is generally way out for me.

Jeans, I wear almost always Levi 511 stretch fit, they are just the perfect fitting jeans for me.

Ah now, he said every man should own a trilby, he didn't say he should wear it.

Maybe a bit harsh, but probably not.

I'd shorten that list to MAYBE:

    A good pair of shoes
    A nice shirt
    Pair of good trousers
    A belt

Everything else is down to personal taste/style. In all fairness though, a trilby...FFS!

'Combat trousers' have to go too. Absolutely not.
