Well now that you mention it, Joey Carbery played 9 at underage level. Pretty sure he played 9 for the u18s.

carbery to 9, Isa to 10

Decent enough half from Leinster, but a poor way to finish the first 40. Told ya not starting the 2 Kiwi halves was a selection mistake :D

Carbery looks composed, you'd almost swear he grew up playing rugby in NZ...

Castres are just a bit shìt to be honest, Leinster should take this out easily enough if they stick to their guns and don't gift points to the opposition.

There's no need to panic, we are still well on top. Just that last passage left it a lot closer than it should have been.

Just in case there's any confusion, my Madigan at 9 post was a joke...

Castres' biggest source of territory has been Leinster errors. Just have to tighten up.

Bit mad how McGrath got a yellow considering Castres were constantly infringing in our 22.

McGrath has been woeful. Over the last year, he has really improved but is just having one of those days. His passing from the base has regressed significantly today. Hopefully, he'll be back to himself next week but JGP should be launched onto the pitch immediately.

Carberry has made some significant contributions. His handling is exceptional, even more impressive considering McGrath's inability to pass.

Henshaw is my Man of the first half. Thrown himself into everything. Great tackling, lovely hands, high work ethic. His partnership with Carberry inside and Ringrose (who has also played very well) outside is great to watch.

Furlong took the Castres loosehead to he cleaners. He popped up in every scrum and somehow only got penalised once. Anyone know why he went off?

Promising performance so far, minus some lapses in defense. A try in the next 10 mins should kill the game

Man there's nothin Van der Flier can't do. Smiling away at some lad who has him by the throat. You can't coach that.

BOD suggesting McGrath should go out to the wing and leave Isa at 9 :D

Would love to have a fullback with some attacking flare playing, Kearney had a ton of space there

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,248 ✭✭✭kingofthekong

I reckon Gibson wouldve gone himself there..

    That was a massive scrum

McGrath should have dummied. Absolute hospital pass to Carberry.

We need to keep the pedal down here - if this is all Castres are going to bring to the tournament they will ship big scores to the others.

Some lovely contributions from Healy since he came on.

Turned over twice on their try line. Need to be working on our clean outs

What's going on with the offside, ref not officiating it at all

Carberry has a lovely eye for a gap.

Win and BP is pretty much in the bag now, maybe Carbery should be allowed kick a few?

I dunno lads. Pen try means certain try would have been scored, right? Didn't look certain there to me particularly if you compare to the one in the first half. Bit harsh but will take it obviously.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

Did Tommy Bowe sneak on to score a try for Castres there?

Think the ref just lost patience.

All things considered I'd be a bit worried about Leinster's execution at times. Their finishing is poor and they are either struggling to create opportunities near the line or just aren't taking advantage of them.

Jesus thank god Cathal Marsh wasnt starting..

I think the scrum before should have been a penalty try. Like u I fail to see how the one given was more than a penalty

Good job, need to be a little bit more clinical but 5 points so I'm happy.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 365 ✭✭TeoReid

Bonus point win. Another 10 you can rely on in the squad. Scrum going very well. Maul great.

Big things to work on are being better at cleans outs at ruck time, couple of turn overs near their try line. Execution in the 22 on anything that wasn't a maul was a bit dodgy at times.

But lots to look forward to I think.

Sexton should move to Munster or Connacht if he's serious about getting game time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,504 ✭✭✭swiwi_

    Good win, 5 points.

    But Castres were woeful really.

Montpellier will be a much better gauge.

    The 10,12,13 axis looked good.

Might be worth starting the Maori fulla next week.
