Horseplay? He was firing full, unopened cans across a room filled with reporters and fans. How much money do you think it would have cost him if he'd split someone open or worse?

And sure if we take his talk at face value it's peanuts to him.

You should find yourself a job on the commission.

Do you think 150,000 thousand dollars is a fair fine? Seriously? Or are you playing devils advocate.

Jake Shields through hot coffee toward the SBG lads, if he was infront of the commission how much do you think he should be fined?

    Your last sentence is pathetic.

If that had happened they have every right to sue
    But it didn't

I'd throw my toys out of the pram if I was being fined 150k for a relatively small incident.

The commission were throwing around numbers as if it was nothing. Went up to 300k at one stage.

That is nothing to him. Bum money.

It's the Conor McGregor thread. Not the Conor McGregor Cheerleader Thread.

So I had a quick look at your post history
Are you an anti cheerleader ? Cos I get why fans would want to support Conor but every and I mean every post you have ever made on this forum is talking negatitivaly about him.
    Why ?

And what better way to discourage it from ever happening than nipping it in the bud with a huge fine.

How much are fighters fined for testing for peds ?
    Shouldn't that be budnipled

Did you see the hearing though? The NSAC are an absolute joke. I'd be pissed if I was him too.

    You could watch it?

It should and that's down to the UFC to manage. Maybe they should take a leaf from the commissions book??

Think Anderson Silva got a $360k fine for PEDs, the highest handed down by the NAC, Conor's being the second highest

I wasn't going to comment, but this is the worst comparison to try and excuse what's happened.

5% of his pay is a standard fine. I really don't see how people can dispute it. Diaz, I would imagine, is looking at a much bigger fine for instigating it.

It's the Nevada athletic commission s job to fine the UFC 200 guys
How much were they fined ?

Lesnar has been banned pending a full hearing.

Edit: Jones asked for more time on his defense and is looking at a 2 year ban.

Both quite worse that a 5% penalty.

    Can't see anything on Jones.

Les ar was never gonna fight again
Why do you hate Conor ?

So Lesbar is never fighting again, what do you expect the NAC to do?? Say they are fining him 100% of his purse and wait for him to tell them to fcuk off??

Hate Conor? Are you upset because I've pointed out that even with all of his bravado he acts like a spoilt child when he doesn't get his way??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,337 ✭✭✭moneyman

I was talking more in general. Doesn't get things all his own way, throws a strop.

Couldn't get time off the pressers, refuses to do them and gets pulled. Can't get back on the card, so "retires" and all that twitter nonsense.

Gets fined for indiscriminately firing full cans of energy drink across a crowded room, spits the dummy and says me never wants to fight there again.

    All very childish.

Conor's success is made all the sweeter due to people like yourself.

    No it's a genuine e question
As I pointed out earlier I get why someone would be a fan and I get why someone wouldn't care one way or the other
But every single one of your posts on this forum are Conor related and are negative

He's answered every point you make and you still keep coming at him.

Why don't you just hold your hands up and say "You know what? Fair enough."

Because it's weird behaviour. There's plenty of public figures I dislike, but I don't seek out message boards to constantly take digs at them.

If you don't like someone, why on earth would you torture yourself by discussing them constantly? Just ignore them.

I've asked why his every post on here is anti Conor
    I just don't get it
There are posters that sorta respect Conor but get annoyed by him and I get that
There are posters that think people think that it's only worth watching if Conor is fighting and they think those people are missing out and I get that as well
There are poster that post about loads of fighters on here and get annoyed buy the people that only come on here when there is Conor stuff to talk about and I get that as well
I don't get why a person would only post here about one fighter or about that fighter and whichever fighter they are involved with at the time but in a negatitivaly way
    What's that about ?

Problem isn't the 5% it's the 50 hours community service they want him to do in the States.

Absolute joke he doesn't live there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,390 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

The $150k is only so high because his pay for the fight was so high.
Had been paid $300k there would be no comments about $15,000 fine (5%).

That said. I'm not sure where NSACs jurisdiction starts and ends. I wouldn't have thought that a press conference falls within their remit (excluding weigh-ins, post fight etc). But they will of course insist that it does as it's worth $$$

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,423 ✭✭✭✭Outlaw Pete

What would happen now if he refused to pay the fine or do the community service?

What could the NAC do about it?

No license him until he does, Nick Diaz still isnt licensed.

So, if Nevada suspends a fighter that stops them fighting in all states?

I thought it was just in the state of Nevada.

So, if Nevada suspends a fighter that stops them fighting in all states?

I thought it was just in the state of Nevada.

All the state athletic committees have an agreement where a ban in one is enforced by all. Most international bodies would uphold this as well with one or two exceptions. Otherwise fighters banned in Nevada for drugs or behavioural issues would just fight in California or Georgia or the UK and avoid Nevada.

The UFC as a body also can't afford to piss the NSAC because Vegas is their money maker.

Technically it's only a ban in Nevada, as that's there their power ends. But all other states would recognise the ban and not license him.

Is there a proper body for UK events yet, or is it a self-regulated (as in Ireland and the other small countered.)

    100% This
