Is it just because it's a fruit or is the hatred reserved entirely for pineapple?

Pineapple on a pizza is delicious. Don't understand why people hate it

Just pineapples. Although that said I can't imagine apples or oranges would work on a pizza either.

    ....braces for impact.

What flavour of tea is it then?

Red berry, pomegranate and virgin's tears?

    Chia, mandarin and kangaroo sweat?

It's elderflower, peanut and the congealed blood of a retired librarian isn't it?

People who believe pineapple and chicken belong on a pizza are the reason we cannot best the All Blacks! .....if we banned them from being put on pizza we'd spank then 61-0 every time!!

First off, the sweetness of the pineapple balances the saltiness of the ham and cheese and, more importantly, the acidity and umami of the pomdoro sauce. Secondly, pineapple's tenderness also adds a unique layer of texture; regardless of your base style (northern (crunchy) vs neapolitan (chewy)). Finally, ordering it will infuriate any Italians within earshot.

    Case. Rested.

Actually this reminds me, around the time of the horse meat scare there a few years ago - I was explaining to my mates the terrible situation in Ireland that people were buying products thinking they contained beef, but it was actually horsemeat...

...after a few seconds of everyone staring at me with confused faces one lad finally said, "what's the problem, horse meat is delicious"

I've eaten horse meat and yes it's nice, and I like pineapple on my pizzas.... Dunno what says about me really.

Ate in a school cafeteria in Lisbon / Portugal around 12 years ago. Had beef stew that had a fairly strong meaty flavor.

Turned out, I had horse stew!

I was in Italy a few years ago and was ordering a pizza in a small pizzeria. I got the gist of the pizza having onion, garlic, peppers and one other ingredient that wasn't in my guide books translation section. Worried that it might be a horrible fish or something I asked the girl what it was. After some tooing and frooing along with some hand signals she eventually started bawing "hee haw".

    Donkey...donkey pizza.

The number one ingredient on pizza is artichokes. Don't mind anchovies either. And chili olive oil lathered on.

Pineapple on pizza is for kids birthday parties. I'm with Molloy on this issue.

I think (hope) I'll be back in Dublin by December if I can get finished with a project in time... I am looking forward to properly sampling this long list of places.
