    I hope they are back again today to finish the rest...including me...:confused:

    That's good to hear! :cool:
    Can you give us a feel for where the one third of the houses are? e.g. take a snapshot of the map of the area and highlight the roads done?

    Is it just the immediate Turloughmore village, or have you seen any activity around the neighbouring Lackagh cabinet? I'd like to get a feel for what sequence they're branching out and whether connected cabinets are part of the initial work.

    Sorry, I should have said, although we come under the Turloughmore exchange, we are in a small village called Laraghmore which is about 4km from Turloughmore village.

    Just spoke to my wife and she says they passed our house this morning and seem to have nearly finished all of the blues lines in our village already...:)

    That's promising - Laraghmore is about as far as any blue lines on the map stretch from the Turloughmore exchange.

    In fact, I'm almost as close to the west of Turloughmore. But my blue line is from the Loughgeorge cabinet that's on the Claregalway exchange which is labelled "Winter 2016 / Spring 2017".

    I think that's one step behind the Turloughmore label "Winter 2016". So I won't hold my breath...

    Yes, I would say that I am the second last house on one of the blue lines, so I am chuffed that they have the fibre up.

    Does anyone know if after the fibre is up on the poles, is this the last stage of FTTH rollout in an area? or is there more work to be done?

    your extremely lucky! There must be some problem in my area, It's just so frustrating when the ducting is done over half a year and nothing since. Other neighbors are getting frustrated as well, we all thought we'd be wired up and connected by now, we've been put on the long finger for some reason. The lack of information concerning dates and which blue lines are getting enabled soon is making it even more frustrating. They could just show up tomorrow or we may not see them till March, its all totally up in the air.

    Sounds like you should be up and running before Christmas!.

    What's the ducting for BTW? I presume the fibre cables themselves just hang between the poles in a similar manner to existing wires? So where's the ducting and what goes in it?

    And following up Shyboy's question - does anyone know what needs to be done once the cable is in place and connected to the exchange? How does the connection work from the pole to the house - is there a fibre cable needed and a new Eir box?

    I think now you have to wait till your house come up on there system before you can get connected upto FTTH.

    Who supplies the socket in the house?. Does ISP provide or customer?. Will this socket be situated where copper now terminates in hallway?

    I know those that have waited for soooooo long will be delighted to get it, but it's one ugly setup compared to cable.

    from that diagram there is no direct socket only the one that exists on the ONT. And I'm presuming ISP will provide those.
    Oh - csp is consumer splice point

    Actually I don't see how it differs from a cable setup if the BSU/ONT/wifi router was all in the one box. In fairness it blows cable away. It could look like my ar$e for all I care.

    Something happening in Kinvarra (Galway) today, which is part of the first 100K.

    The blue line ends just past my house, an Open Eir van was parked up beside the final pole in that stretch this morning and there were two guys up a ladder doing something for about half an hour.

    When I was heading to work I passed the same two working on a pole at the opposite end of that blue line. Again up the pole and I could see them working on some kind of box with loads of wires. Maybe prepping the start/end points? But there was no sign of any fibre being rolled out.

    Might be related to the FFTC which is due to arrive in Autumn 2016.

    Does anybody know what kind of ducting was being installed on the N22 between ballyvourney and clonkeen on the Kerry side of the cork/Kerry border?

    It's being buried next to the road, it's black and roughly about six inches wide. It might just be for drainage. I didn't see any kn or eir vans. And it didn't look like council fellas.

    I think those 500+ work orders can mean anything from repairing a fault on a phone line to checking poles and laying fiber, I could be wrong tho. There is very little happening at the moment except in a few select areas and in those areas we don't seem to have boards.ie users filling us in on the progress!.

    at this stage I've resigned to the fact I am probably not gonna be live till at least February 2017. But I would at least like to see the place wired up before Christmas. Once the place is wired up there is usually a 4-6 week wait before ordering can take place and then another wait for the install. Very little will happen anywhere from Friday 17th December to Tuesday 3rd January. Other issues are bound to happen from now on as well such as winter storms.

    Yup exactly! Not the ideal time of year for that sort of work. Shorter days too.

    No doubt this knock on effect may cause more delays unless they really get the ball rolling with an increased number to guys working on it from January. So far the progress has been very dissapointing.

    for example Dunshaughlin, Ratoath and Batterstown are all down for Winter 2016 and over the past week I've been all around the 3 locations and not seen anything happen. Haven't seen any action near the Tara exchange either in about 2 months. Nothing happening anywhere between Navan and Clonee either!.     My local exchange is down for 2017-2020 so guess I will have a long wait. Don't get the whole H2 thing when they didn't use the H1 before. Map is a bit sloppy anyways. But I guess the first 300k are still the target.

    My local exchange was upgraded to fibre last week, However I still have to wait for an engineer to call out. Its still only fiber to the cabinet so Im not too sure why he would need to call out. Does anyone else know why?

    They swap you at the cabinet and replace your master socket with a filtered one.

    Ok wrong thread first of all (this is a FTTH thread not a FTTC one) - engineer will need to call out as might need to change the socket and you'll need a new router.
