I thought his palsy nicknames couldnt get any more outrageous.

    If (O')Drissy is consistent ...

Very interesting podcast from a while back where Joe Molloy gives the whole story of the times that he met with Darren Clarke. Also Dave McIntyre gives his Clarke experiences.

    http://www.newstalk.com/podcasts/Off_The_Ball/Golf_Weekly/79125/

    Molloy provokes Clarke's ire with:

    (Indo):
"Nice to meet you Darren. I'm afraid you'll have to repeat yourself one last time!"

    ... in the podcast:
"I'll try not to ask you any of the questions you've just been asked 20 times, but it might be tricky"

Other incident, Media Officer tries to intercede on Joe's behalf to get the recording:

    ... Indo:
The official said it was "literally a two-minute thing'.

    ... podcast:
"Oh look Darren we're talking 30 seconds"

Off the Ball doing the match live tonight as well as 2fm. I wonder why?

on another note, i think they should have a phone in some night, maybe on a monday. would take the monotony out of it. 5 live does it extremely well with their 606 hour.

It's on RTE TV too. I figure it's so they don't have to work up some content for the show.

Although I think I heard an ad saying Paul Kimmage would be contributing to the match coverage, I want to hear that.

As for a phone in? Not for me, Clive. Lowest form of sports coverage. :)

Today FM used to do that at 5 on Saturdays (not sure if they still do) and it was painful. 90% of callers were lads from Dublin moaning about Liverpool/Utd/ROI.

I remember a lad - about two and a half years after Abramovic turned up, so during the second league he bought - phoning up and saying "I think it's time people stopped talking about all the money Chelsea are spending. Like, stop going on about it, like..."

Last time I listened to a football phone in show.

And referring to the team as "we"

Did I hear rightly that they've Lance Armstrong on the show on Friday night?

Thought I heard it on ad during Tom Dunne show.

I thought they were messing earlier in the week, but it seems like they have got it.

I'm also certain I heard them say they got Lance for 15 minutes.

    Not from 7-10.

They better ask hard questions and not be fawning all over him.

15 minutes with someone like Joe or Ger will be a doddle for Lance....he'll have no bother batting off questions and will probably have totally mind-fcuked them by the time it's over.

You'd really need Kimmage with him for about an hour or so for it to be worthwhile imho....tonight's interview will just be free PR for Lance

I'd love kimmage, but I think he'd get himself too worked up and shouty and then Lance would win. If he could keep the head it'd be great.

more chance of them needing a few boxes of kleenex to clean up the excitment then asking hard questions.

And they had Kimmage on talking football last night. Strange.

Said a lot of great things about Martin O'Neill, which was nice to hear.

Lance'd never get a word in!

Can you imagine the length of the questions?

I'm sure Ger will pull rank and do the interview

Lance walks into the studio... Ger is sitting across on the other side of the desk... Suddenly Ger begins ripping off his face a la Tom Cruise in the Mission Impossible movies... behind the face mask is none other than Paul Kimmage... Lance tries to open the door to escape... but it's locked!

    Ooh yeah! :pac:

Armstrong actually offered to sit with Kimmage and do the interview at that conference.

That should give Ger just about enough time to ask the first question.

One of the sports news readers earlier said it was a feature length interview.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 522 ✭✭✭soc160

Looks like it's Ger and it's feature length or whatever you wanna call it. It'll be interesting either way, wonder if it's a case where we hear it and then turns out he's on Rte and Second Captains next week too.

Ah f*ck it. I enjoy Ger and don't want to be knocking him as such but this should have been a Joe Molloy interview.
Ger , I expect, will look to point score whereas I think Joe would be more subtle.

Anyway, still at work so going for cup of tea now and will be tuning in.

Ah god Ger, another monologue. This is why people are increasingly getting browned off with him.
