Caller making one (vaguely sensible) point.

Joe completely misunderstanding the (vaguely sensible) point and going off on a stupid rant about insurance and where her money is gone.

Did he learn NOTHING from the last time he covered this and made a total fool of himself? (rhetorical question, caller)

The question is how can we stop or reduce Bertys pension and the rest of the FF gangsters.

If someone is found guilty of breaking the law during the period they were in office they should forfeit their pension, whether the guilt is found out when they are in office or have left.

The money would be for premiums, if she was "unlucky" enough to get no critial illness she would have got nothing too.

The last time this came up a few weeks ago Joe and some callers couldn't understand that the policy holders had nothing to show for after a policy term expired, and they got nothing out of it because they never got sick or had an accident.

Unfortunately there's people who are unaware of the difference between an insurance and assurance policy.

If they included a free biro or fridge magnet with their apology letter would that have made her happy?

Some policies won't pay out if your already insured against an event on a different policy.

I had a policy or two over the years with Combined. They coughed up when I got injured at work, no problems.

As far as I know if they die and are married the payment keeps going to their partner until they die too.

I would have expected them to continue underwriting the policy for the length of the term, or at least organise it so that another underwriter would take on the book.

Her only hope here I think is if she can prove it was mis-sold in the first place.

I wonder is Joe inshured to the hilt so to speak? He regularly listens to those uninshured and over inshured.

Joe thinks she should get a refund.

She seems well aware that she won't get one.

She wants other cover, which she (rightly, I presume) reckons no-one will offer her given her age.

Not sure about the rights and wrongs of the company pulling the rug from under her - presume that's their perogative if they decide to get out of that side of the business?

Rough luck to be on the wrong end of it, though.

Please see my suggestion a few pages back. Thankfully Bertie's not married.

Have to dash, will catch up on the thread later.

Perhaps wee Michael and our Leader will lead by example and take a drop in their mad

pensions when its their time to take the golden hand shake.....?

I would have thought 60K was enough for our politicians and if they require more

let them take out their own additional pension?

How many chances are there of that happening....?

So people bought policies and never reviewed them over the years, who's fault is that?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,833 ✭✭✭✭ThisRegard

Would you rather have had the person die Joe in order that the policy holders could have got some money?
