I understand people paying more than market price for entire PC builds - that makes sense as it's still way, way better value than buying in a shop, and a lot of people have no interest in building.

But people paying over the retail price for 2nd hand items I will never understand - but it does happen, all the time! Do they not check new prices before buying?

Same goes for sellers - guy selling a 2nd hand GTX980Ti Matrix Platinum for 500 non-negotiable. A GTX980Ti Matrix brand new is €420, which someone pointed out when making an offer. So even taking in the non-platinum, you couldn't realistically expect to get more than about €380 for it now.

But the guys reply is basically what you said 'Ya well I paid 800 for it 6 months ago not taking a penny less than 500"

Actually that's another good point. Some people pay stupid money for items! I am always keeping an eye on monitors now and by accident I clicked on some 27inch 1080p monitor and someone actually buying it for stupid money. There were actually 1440p or 144hz monitors for same or less!!! Damn, brand new was cheaper then what it was sold for! I just get "head full of ****" when I see what sort of stuff happening on adverts.

Just another advice with adverts, never ever try to sell car there. Oh God... That'd just opens a whole new cam of worms lol.

Quick question for ye lads, if I was to sell on my R9 290 Tri-x card, how much in your opinions should I be aiming for?

Really want to upgrade my rig to a sweet sweet 1070.

Guys there any sites or browser plugins that give you quick price comparisons? I keep jumping between Amazon and Overclockers but know there is more out there.

A friend got a flash sale from Newegg, a Logitech Wireless headset that costs over €150 for €40 brand new. So freaked I keep missing these deals.

Currently in the market for a new keyboard, have three options but leaning towards a Corsair K70 today, unsure on RGB model or not. Anyway just want to get some method of doing a price compare. Some places its near €200, others it's down around €130.

Will be probably grabbing a new headset in the not too distant future too so would be cool to be able to keep tabs on pricing.

    Any particular switch?

Amazon have Cherry MX Blue K70 with red backlight for €95, or is this different to what you're looking for?

Does anyone know if parcel motel works with overclockers? Some small peripherals I want to order that are cheaper on overclockers than amazon but delivery negates the price advantages.

I ordered my R9 390 from overclockers via parcel motel no problem.

Probably looking at MX Browns or Reds. I currently have Red, no major issue with them I guess. I think the noise is more down to the board itself then the keys. So I'd probably go red again no issues.

Blue are a bit too clacky for what I want.

I kinda have a purple colour going on with the PC also, so I might be forced into RGB to keep it similar :D

I used parcel motel for my 1070 to avail of the free shipping from overclockers on that card.

No issues. I took out some extra insurance with them just incse, but all was fine.

You do know that OCUK's free shipping also applies to Ireland? :p

I think I lot of people leave it set on the 'express delivery' option and not the 'standard two day' option, which is the free one and don't realise that it's free to Ireland.

I haven't paid for a delivery from OCUK in a long time, because there's always something in the order that qualifies for free shipping!

At the moment most GTX cards and RX cards have free shipping. Which means even if you order an entire 2K pc, the delivery is still free.

Yeah I normally go with the two day delivery with run of the mill stuff from them. For some reason I used Parcel Motel and it ended up saving me a few quid, maybe it was currency conversion or something because the Sterling had **** the bed

Probably VAT. For UK orders (including ones shipped to Parcel Motel) they would charge UK VAT which is less than the Irish VAT rate.

Doesn't make much difference for small value items from OCUK but it was worth shipping my €770 GTX1080 via parcel motel for the 3% VAT saving.

Pretty sure Geizhals.eu indexes both Amazon UK and OCUK.

So picked one of these up to do some dev stuff outside of the house

    GB5bGh2l.jpg

Nice machine. 1060 GPU, plenty of grunt. Surprisingly great speakers for something this thin as well, though it feels a little cheap in the hand in comparison to my XPS 15 that I had a while ago, and the non-standard keyboard is a little irksome. The other main negative...

    BMxmEOpl.jpg

It took 19 (19!) screws, and a bunch of pain-in-the-ass plastic clips, to get to this point. (The gaping hole on the left was the ODD removed)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,307 ✭✭✭Xenoronin

Nice! Won't want to be cleaning out those fans ever by the looks of it, so much in the way!

Edit: Also, obvious question, where did you get it and how much?

I've spent all day today on Ebay, and the amount of crap there is unreal - but one really took the biscuit, it was a Core 2 Duo E6600 (yes, from 2006), with an R9 270X and....7GB of ram. Being sold as 'custom gaming PC'.

Fair play to you for finding it! I hadn't a clue where I'd seen it, I spent the entire day on Ebay looking at billions of things, so no way I was going to be able to work out where I found it!
