    DMURS?

More like Ollie Murs when you see some the road designs in this country!

Maybe it's the motorbike in the "shared cycle path"

Yeah, I wondered what that image was meant to be. No effort made at any level, I suppose.

Protesting recent developments in funding cuts for cycling, and Ross' general attitude, I assume.

Off for a run now, meeting Koutobia for a swim later too.
He"s trying to get me to do a triathlon with him next year.

On a serious note, I was considering giving blood, having never done it before. Are you wasted after it, i.e., would you be suggesting not cycling home afterwards? Was thinking of doing it on a lunchbreak from work but may need to rethink that if it writes off the rest of the day.

This is only my second time giving blood. But feel especially wrecked today for some reason.
I might ask for it back say , next March ;)
They keep you there a few mins afterwards to make sure you are ok.
They don't say anything about not driving or anything.

In my time, they used give donors a glass of Guinness.

I've given blood twice and didn't have an issue with going back to work either time. Didn't have to cycle mind. It seems to affect different people in different ways though so it may very much be a try and see.

it's about half a litre isn't it? not exactly shedding enough weight to decide to go for a PR up kilmashogue afterwards to make the best of the weight loss.

just to prove it's not just in ireland that people walk in clearly marked cycle lanes - though this was taken in a touristy area, so probably not locals, but clearly people from countries who do not understand the universal bike symbol.

Lads and lasses on a serious note if you can please do follow Koutobias lead and give blood, you will not have any ill effects and will have replaced it naturally within a month.

You could save a life and more often than not the live of a premature baby.

    Go for it ......

I believe I am not eligible on medical grounds (I will need to check this out), but I agree completely with this. If you can do it, DO IT!

If the blood we give is nice and 'strong' can we ask for it back at the start of the racing season?

That Dublin Bike scheme boils my blood. This morning there was a van taking bikes from one of the Stations that's usually empty (James's Hospital). I was going to the Passport Office and when I got there 5 people were waiting to put bikes back at this spot so I ended up locking the bike and taking it back to the Green when I was done where I had to queue to put it back anyway.

The shifting van seems to work randomly with no forward planning

    the app is handy

I was rejected about 28 years ago and never went back again. I suppose I should.

I did check the website there, and I would be rejected too due to my high blood pressure, which is controlled by regularly changing medication. Maybe in the future, but for now I'm a no-go.

I think you give a litre. I'd do it, but they won't take my nasty asthmatic blood; not sure if this is because of medication or because asthmatics need all the blood they have to rush the oxygen to their giant brains.

It's an awful pity I can't give it; being A Rh negative, it could be useful. I kind of figure that if there's ever, God forbid, a major bombing or something, I'll say the hell with it and do it anyway.

i have to get checked soon for haemochromatosis.
if diagnosed, i would have to give blood on a periodic basis (sounds very victorian, a bit like bloodletting); but as far as i know, even though the blood is useful, due to high iron content, it can't be used, as the BTSB have in their constitution that blood donations must be altruistic, and haemochromatosis patients are not giving blood altruistically. though i suspect if i am diagnosed, i'll find out if there's any truth in that.
