Good job most Mayo fans live in Dublin anyway or a replay would be unfair on them.

Last All-Ireland final win, 1951. How many decided final appearances since then? 7. All lost. This will likely rise to 8 on October 1st. So yeah, bottlers when it matters most.

They conceded two own goals? So what. That's nobody's fault but their own. Dublin were there for the taking today. Don't expect the same in a couple weeks time.

Apart from 1996 in the other finals they have lost they have been beaten by the better team.Thats not bottling that is just what tends to happen most of the time in sport.

Aidan O'Shea is overrated,a poor team player and his display today was the definitive example of that.

Bulls*it hes a fine player. Didnt have his best game today but on song he is unstoppable and is a terrific team player

RTE might as well send Brolly Spillane and O'Rourke into the Mayo dressing room just before the replay, and at half time as well. I am shocked at the bias, but not surprised

Nobody answers that question because they can't. Anybody here who is a fan of players trying to get opponents sent off aren't true GAA fans. Play the f*cking ball, not the man.

Connolly plays the game until someone antagonises him, and players do it on purpose. That's not sport. It's the complete opposite, in fact.

Doesn't mean he should be forgiven for bringing nothing short of thuggery to the field. Throwing punches and slaps to the face of opposition players.

Should have more self discipline but he doesn't.

How many times through the years have we seen Gooch Cooper treated like that and bullied by opposition. (Mainly Northern teams) but he, for the most part, keeps his cool and lets the football do the talking.

It's a shame because Connolly has the ability to change a game with scores from both feet.

It is gas, alright. They have barely mentioned the Dubs at all.

Here's Jim Gavin with his usual enlightening comments.

I've heard them being far unkinder to Mayo in the past with lazy tripe altogether. Pat Spillane criticised their minors once saying 'oh sure there is a naivety about all Mayo teams in Croke Park'. i mean teenagers ffs?!

I think the RTE Panel are over playing it.

It was a poor game, apart from the odd moments. exciting in so far as it was in the balance. I didn't think the Ref helped matters.

Maybe I was expecting too much after the quality of the Kerry v Dublin Semi Final.

Replay? Dublin can't be as poor. Mayo have to dig just as deep. Hope it's a dry day.

    See you all then.

    MOTM contenders?

Harrison, O Connor (RTE like the "big score" player), Andrews, Parsons

    EDIT: Cooper also

Clarke, the Mayo goalkeeper. Made 3 great saves 1st half and plucked a great ball from under the crossbar 2nd half. Difficult day for outfield players today.

I think that might be stretching it a bit. He's a super football but gives as much as he gets. Anyway they are both grown men, there wasn't much in it and I'm sure they both love trying to get the better of each other. I taught Boyle and MDMA did their best to antagonise players all day, much worse than Connolly or Keegan.

Exciting game, lots of its and buts and a good game to look forward to again

Just because Connolly gets the red mist the Gooch never gets doesn't excuse the fact that players do it in the first place.

And as someone said earlier, 3 times Keegan hit him off the ball before that incident, a man who has admitted in the past to trying to get him sent off, yet Connolly's the thug today? Why are people saying 'sure Connolly shouldn't be lashing out' instead of 'this bull**** needs to stop now'?

Some awful kickouts though. Very very hard job to pick a motm today in my book.

I mean they were pushed right to the wire, despite it being rimmed down our throats how they are like the globetrotters of gaelic football and one of the best teams ever.

    Don't believe the hype

The hype that comes from the media? I think most people know not to believe it. Don't see any hype coming from the Dublin camp.

I really enjoyed the game and am somewhat releived that we survived to fight another day. Hats off to Mayo for the way they played. They should be disappointed not to have won it!

On a positive note, at least there's a chance now that Michelle Mulherin will get a ticket for the replay.

I thought that maybe the two teams played for the draw - as a type of solidarity protest for Michelle

I thought Mayo were a little slow with the subs, that period after Dubs brought in some fresh legs and Mayo hadn't, allowed them to back ahead by 2/3 points

In particular SOS and Doherty could have been replaced 10 mins earlier than they were

Vaughan is another one who dispelled a lot of pre game doubts. Missed a vital chance though, didnt he about 10 minutes to go when Mayo needed it. But he made a lot of great turnovers, one particularly good block and a number of runs which ended in scores

The black card was harsh but I thought dublin got a few soft frees after that. What was the final free count?

Mayo need to stand up now, no more moral victories they need to win all Ireland and end this curse.

They stood up today. Noone can argue they didn't.

They lack an awful lot of composure though. I think its probably the big occasion nerves. Are they putting more pressure on themselves then necessary? When Mayo play with a swagger and calmness they would beat many the team.

    Hmm, my guess is 10.39pm

But seriously, it is generally announced about that time after the game highlights, analysis and then it cuts to the "winning party" dinner but it will be announced about half 10.

Starting to think Vaughan myself, the more I recall the game.

    Bizarre game. Disgusted by Connolly.

Lane was everything you hate about refs. Persnickety and inconsistent. Awful day.

I really didnt think it was harsh. He clearly barged into O'Connor who didnt have the ball. If he didnt take O'Connor out of it, then O'Connor could have pressured Kilkenny who was on the ball.

At the end of it, it was Keegan keeping a grip of Connolly's jersey despite Connolly trying to get him to release it.

Indeed they were both at it by then. But Connolly seemed to start it

Massive composure to come back from 5 points down and then 3 points down. I think Mayo are the only team to ever shown that resilience against this Dublin team in the last 5 years.

Got stung by those freakish goals (but they have to accept most of the blame for them) but that last 5/6 minutes was exceptional, even though Dublin played it into their hands a bit

Watching the game on TV Aidan O' Se seemed to make poor choices continuously when on the ball.
