If they release Brendan Deasy won't they have to release Stephen Adler as well.

Stephen Avery was convicted on the physical evidence, Dassey didn't give evidence in court either for or against Avery.

Stephen Adler is a free man and occasionally tours with Adler's Appetite

I thought Deasy said in court how he was there when Stephen killed her and raped her.

The overturning of Brendan Dassey's conviction is based on a breach of his constitutional rights in how he was questioned/interviewed. Which means the prosecutors will have to determine whether or not to go to trial again without that as evidence.

Steven Avery's conviction wasn't based on the same because, as shown in the series, the courts agreed not to use Dassey's testimonies/confession as evidence in the trial against Steven Avery. As such there was no breach of his constitutional rights like there is with Dassey.

This is covered in the doc: he was questioned by the cops who appeared to be feeding him the answers, the DA held a press conference alleging details of the rape, murder and disposal of Teresa's body.

Steven was convicted on the physical evidence.
Brendan was convicted on his "confession".
The prosecution argued in both separate cases a separate set of events took place - one where Steven killed her, another where Brendan and Steven raped and killed her in his trailer where none of Teresa's DNA was found.

The prosecuting district attorney chose not to use Dassey's confession in Steven's trial and dropped the rape charge.

Dassey's conviction looks be overturned based on his right to effective counsel being breached.

Ya it's been basically a year since I've watched the documentary I do remember Bredan Deasy not getting a fair trial but I suppose will we ever know the truth?

1] It's been 9 months most since you've watched it as was only released in December 2015
2] His name is Brendan Dassey
3] Steven Avery didn't get a fair trail either
4] I think both Brendan and Steven will be exonerated eventually but we may never find out who killed her, I don't think the police killed her but they definitely framed him. Think the brother and ex boyfriend know a lot more than they've been letting on, deleting voicemails etc. and wasn't she in contact with someone dodgy in the days leading up to her death.

Infairness how was he ment to get a fair trial when they were releasing information to the press and holding press conference about the Brendan Dasey trial that was sure to influence any jury.

Fully agree, but we're not judges in the Justice System nor were we in court during the trial. We have no competence to do anything but express an opinion.

Well yes i would of thought that's why we are all on boards. Not many of us can express a matter of fact about anything it's always just our opinion just sometimes it's a very strong opinion.

Wouldn't agree. Plenty of posters put forward facts and plenty of others express opinions backed up by evidence etc.

Plenty of chatter across many different media outlets about "ooh, I think it was so-and-so" as if that matters. I'm baffled how Strangg and Buting are selling out shows when so many people who've watched the show have seemingly not bothered paying attention to what they've had to say. Strang has more or less said that Avery is shagged absent new evidence. And it'd want to be very very strong evidence as he's all out of appeals unless a future governor decides to pardon.

A judge has ordered Brendan Dassey to be released from prison.

Crazy to think he has been in jail for ten years for this! Actually what is crazier is that in Ireland even if he had been involved, he would have been released well before now. Anyway, I digress. Enjoy wrestlemania Brendan!

I sincerely hope the boy gets compensated. He was completely stitched up! Hope he goes on to have a good life.

He better sue quickly as no doubt he will be hauled on front of the cameras in chains accused of some other crime in the next few weeks. I'm guessing a fat ,smug , smarmy , creepy looking prosecutor will be assigned to the case. He will make trumpesque style comments (Most of which will be untrue) that will turn people against Brendan before he's even had a chance to defend himself.

Even more surprising will be Brendan's appointed lawyer who spend the majority of his time doing the prosecutors job.

Or maybe he will be grand...

I think with the amount of attention on them, Brendan could kill someone in front of the Sheriff's office and they'd let him at it.

Okay, obviously an extreme example, but if they were to go after Brendan (or Steven if he somehow got out too), it would have to be air-f*cking-tight, otherwise they'll be instantly accused of trying to get them back in jail.

Poor young lad, his life is ruined either way and he didn't have a good start to begin with. It seemed to me neither his parents nor his lawyers were working for his best interests.

His original public defender was working against his best interests - which is why he is being freed now.

They didn't learn their lesson after the first time Steven was released. If I was Brendan I'd never set foot in the county again.

Yeah but there wasn't nearly enough attention on them last time. A few local news stations and maybe some brief mentions on national news, but still not a huge amount of people knew about it. Now because of MAM, it's not just well known in those local states, but throughout America and worldwide.

Apparently a federal court has blocked his release.
