Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. I just found this thread now :-) I nearly bought a Christmas present today, in fact I will probably go back and get it tomorrow. A small gift, a small champagne bottle that is a candle - it actually looked lovely. Will pop up a photo when I buy it.

This one may be a bit of a stretch but I bought multi functional decorations the other day. Bought a distressed wooden tray in tk maxx and some foam pumpkins /leaf assortments in carraig donn. I also got a load of pine cones online. I'm using them for a centre piece with some fairy lights for my fireplace for halloween and currently spray painting the rest of the pine cones silver for hurricane jars display for Christmas ! Soon as 1st November comes those pumpkins are gone and in go some scented candles and christmas baubles !

Went into Smyths first thing this morning for their 20% sale. We got my friends little girls Santa stuff and presents for the rest of the kids we buy for.

Felt like Santa carrying the bags back to the car.

So that all the kids sorted for Christmas, just need to sort out the adults. I've only two of them bought so far which was tickets to Big.

I was also at Smyths at 9am & got my youngest daughter sorted for both her birthday & Christmas. Now for the teenager......

€40 which isn't as bad as I expected. My mother loves Christmas Crackers and she always spends a good bit on them. These are quirky and a bit out of the ordinary. I normally wouldn't even look at them in BTs but they were by the till and there was some tool in front of me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,737 ✭✭✭Glitzgirl

Bought my first 2 tins of sweets in dunnes this morning ! No hero's so 2 tins of Celebrations :) now I just have to manage to keep them closed til then hahah

Got a couple of the Star Wars tree baubles in Dealz and another decoration with S's name on it. I also bought his gift for our family pass the parcel game that we have for Christmas dinner. He's the only child so we make sure one present is for him and wrap it in special paper so we can make sure he ends up with it. I got him this guy in the video. Christmas dinner is going to be fun!!!:pac:

Bought some really cute hand towels for my bathroom I like to jazz it up once the tree is up for anyone popping by the house during December

So have most of the santa shopping done thanks to heatons and smyths toy sales, put a deposit down on a bike for my eldest today, that felt amazing! Picked these up in heatons, they have some christmas stuff out, €2.50 per pack

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,772 ✭✭✭✭Whispered

Today I bought an advent calendar. It's just one we picked up in lidl for a euro but the little guy is too young to understand so it's novelty really.

I also bought a salted caramel dessert. For research. I'll have to try a few different ones in search of the perfect dessert. I'd love to be able to make something but I'm a terrible baker!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,598 ✭✭✭aligator_am

Wowsers, the Christmas shopping is starting already?!?

In fairness though, I don't have kids so I'm probably not facing the same situation that some are, just seems crazy that xmas shopping is being done before it's even Halloween :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,657 ✭✭✭Milly33

I got my first one the other day. A vegatable crisp maker for my sister... Sounds boring but if you like home cooking tis good...

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,556 ✭✭✭groucho marx

Got some Santa bits in smiths today. So the most important person is sorted more or less now ;)
Really tempted to buy one of the expensive beauty advent calendars but think I will hang onto my money, just very tempting.

I haven't got my winter coat yet. It's all just terrible. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,827 ✭✭✭Jude13

Ha, bought a winter coat which was shipped to Dublin so it will be waiting for me when I get home. Its one for wet and windy weather and I could probably use it snow boarding. Then I got a cosy jacket in Hacketts at the weekend.

I really want a pair of wooly mittens with a string ala Keven from Home Alone but in adult size.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 27,641 Mod ✭✭✭✭Posy

I have ordered a winter coat online- the difference in prices between Ireland and the UK is actually scandalous.
I'm hoping it turns out to be The One but if not, my quest will just have to continue!

Are you ordering using parcel motel or similar? I saw a pair of shoes in next that I want for £32 or €47 depending on which country you're ordering from

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 27,641 Mod ✭✭✭✭Posy

Yup, I had to use parcel motel. Free delivery to the UK or €17 to Ireland!

I bought an expensive Advent Calander last year and don't regret it as i have been using the products all year and have loads left. If you are buying one research what is in it. My mother was gojng to buy the Clarins one this year but much of the contents woulf not suit her.

    Attention Elves:

I bought my first Christmas thing today! (I just typed thong instead of thing. Rest assured that I will not be updating you on any [unlikely] thong purchases!)

There's up to 25% off Fisher Price things in Smyths so I bought my nephew's present.

I got my Christmas day dress, it's a present from my girls so I didn't technically buy it! I also got them some adorable christmas swing dresses, cannot wait to try those on

I bought the 2016 Lego advent calendar last weekend :)

My six year old will love it. She saw it a few weeks ago in the shops and spent ages just looking at the box. She never asked for it though because she knows that mum and dad don't buy things just because she wants them. Can't wait to see her face when Advent rolls around :)

Bought some cellophane that's 3 rolls now hopefully it's enough to get me through the season

Was in Dunnes today bought two tins of sweets I need one as a thank you for someone I will keep the other for the tree decorating in November,

I was tempted by Dunnes Christmas slices 2.99 I don't like Christmas cake and either does himself but these seem like Christmas pudding to me with marzipan on them, I've bought them every year very tasty but I held off buying them today, I won't hold off buying for too long though because they did run out of stock before one December

Seen Mince pies too, they also had Christmas cushions and candles in stock too

Picked up an Oxford Lunch cake today.
I'm not keen on Christmas cake; I find it too heavy but I ADORE Oxford Lunch and I notice some supermarkets only have huge ones in stock at Christmas time, so I picked up a medium-sized one today.
    Love it with a cuppa.

Gonna start doing my online shopping next week, I think.

I got a tin of Cadbury's Biscuits and a tin of Victoria biscuits in Tescos for 5 euro each! Long dates on them too - up to June 2017! Thanks to the deal in Dunnes a few weeks ago on sweets, that's all the sweet stuff bought for our house! Need to get cracking on getting the ingredients for my puddings though. Think I'll treat myself to new pudding bowls this year! :P

Tesco also seem to have deals on toys - I got two doctors sets for my nieces for 6.99 each. Woot! Must mark them off my list now!

I'm the same! LOL! I have them all hidden away. Will need to buy some coke (baby on board so no vino for me this Christmas) and some pringles for himself - he's not a chocolate fan.
