    Yeah I thought that too.

I didn't hear them talk about it but doesn't Fowler have a bit of a reputation for being a d ck.. sounds like him alright.

I was watching him on Soccer AM and he seemed pretty sound but I guess he is getting handy money for it, dunno how I'd be able to interview someone when they were being a bit of a dick off air to me

In his defense he had to spend time with Ger.

A bit of the Roy Keane about him.I'm sure back in the day of Christy Ring and those boys most of the players had Daithi's attitude.Remember seeing an interview once with former Tipp hurler,Mickey 'the rattler' Byrne. It sounded like it was a real bloodsport back then.

I've heard all the stories about rattler. Sounded like a bit of a thug tbh.

Although I did find it amusing when he lambasted the current generation of hurlers for wearing "bird cages" on their heads.

OTB went way over the top with their discussion of the match last nite. It's was away from home, in an inch of water, and against a good team. So what did they want?

They almost sounded as negative as Ronnie Whelan on commentary, if that were actually possible.

We had 94 completed passes. 94. In 94 minutes.

What I want is a national football team who can at least keep the ball for 10 consecutive passes.

I used my positivity to decide at half time to go to the gym.

Did Donny come into the studio tonight just to say hello and goodbye?

At a quiz in Kilmessan one night we were asked to give the surname of the players known as The Gunner,The Horse and The Freezer. We got the first two.

For The Freezer, one of us recalled hearing oldtimers saying that a certain defender "would freeze you with a box". Another team-member then chipped in with the assertion that around the time when the unknown defender should have been playing, dentists had begun to use anesthetics!

We picked a random name. It was wrong.

I cant remember the right answer. And Google so far has failed me.

Please, can anybody out there enlighten me?

    That was epic incoherence!

Listened to a fair bit of Kevin Kilbane this week, not really sure what to make of him. Compared to the likes of Miguel Delaney or Stewie Byrne, he struggles to articulate his points at times, also doesn't seem as up to date with the latest articles on various papers. I think there is only so much of talking about his own experience before it gets a bit tiresome, on the other hand it was pretty interesting listening him and Joe Molly talking about the Serbia game, he isn't afraid to go again Joe and Ger and express his own opinion

Also, why the hell did they give Graham Hunter his own little music intro thing? Just comes across like they are licking his arse.

I just find him very vanilla. Prefer Dan McDonnell myself

God help us if Waterford don't win the U-21 at the weekend. They love everything to do with them.

Derek McGrath is "the most interesting manager in the country". Mainly I suppose because he talks about psychology and motivation without being prompted. It obviously annoys them that Cody isn't like that at all.

And of course they'll say things like "that's very interesting", "that's great honesty" etc etc.

The biggest problem with Kilbane, IMO, is that he was brought in as a direct replacement for Wooly. Now Wooly may not have been everybody's cup of tea but he was forceful, opinionated, and at times quite funny. Furthermore, he was fairly knowledgeable (or at least willing to express an opinion!) on a broad range of sports - the big Irish ones in particular such as GAA, soccer, and rugby. This is where I feel Kilbane falls down. As expected, he is quite good with the soccer analysis (I actually think he's one of the better pundits) but when it comes to GAA, he isn't really up to it. Also, he is more of a "nice guy" than Wooly who was quite confrontational, and an outspoken voice in what has become a very PC show.

All that being said, I do like Kilbane, just think he would be better suited to his previous guest role, instead of a full-time member of the show.

Yeah I'm failing to see the point in having Kilbane as a co-host. I like him as a football pundit but he seems lost anytime the conversation switches from football. What's the point in paying him for a full time gig when realistically he's only going to be able to meaningfully contribute to a third of the shows content.

Cut out all the rugby and GAA.

    Makes sense to me.

ffs, will ye just review the damned papers. I didnt come on to the show for a feminist rant. If people wanted to watch ladies football, they would, but they choose to watch other sports. It's not a sexist issue, it's the same as men's road bowling, nobody wants to watch it.

Where's Kimmage anyway. I take it that now he's appearing with Matt Cooper every monday, he wont be on this show any more?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,078 ✭✭✭Muff Richardson

there was a good 15 minutes of that feminist rant of a paper review given to something that wasn't in the papers. why wasn't it in the papers? because nobody gives a f**k. why doesn't anyone give a f**k? because it's sh*te. is that sexist? nope, it's just a fact.

Ranting away and couldn't even get her facts correct, rte broadcast both semis finals yet nobody pulled her up on it, there is just no interest in a minority sport like camogie. Look at number of LOI games RTE show yet doesn't do anything for the attendance or interest

Never mind all that. Just stuck on OTB while I'm taking the dog for a walk.

    They're talking about...ugh...golf.

She also made some ridiculous statement about Conor McGregor only becoming successful when he was given support and media attention. Absolute nonsense. Nobody here was following him until he worked his way right to the top of the UFC, and when he started getting headlines because of his success, the media over here had no choice but to cover him.

Her whole argument seemed to lack any real structure. She said theres loads of "us" interested in it, making sure to include herself in that, then said there's 100,000 people interested in it and that no one is covering it in the papers.

100,000 to me doesn't seem like a huge amount. In a time when newspaper readership is suffering its understandable that something with a minority following wont be covered, even if that coverage is what builds interest in and make more people actually aware of it.

What gets me is the fact that these people are journalists, stop complaining about whats not in the paper! Go back to your editors and ask if you can cover this stuff, offer your services to spread the word.

Having said all that, I don''t think having any kind of rant was her initial intention, and I wouldn't say it was feminist, just happend to be a female sport that's in the minority.

Have pretty much stopped listening to this show due to the buzzword laden interviews with rugby and GAA coaches. Half an hour of "honesty","the process" And reheated motivational quotes being lapped up by fawning sycophantic presenters = snooze time.

Ah no way, love when he's on he is just fantastic I love unapologetic view. Is that the last word? (Don't listen to it, must see if it's on a podcast)

Agree on the rant too (and I'm female), if people want to watch it they will if they don't they won't. I love rugby, I don't enjoy women's rugby I just don't. I'll watch school boys rugby but just no interest in the women's game. That's not rte's fault they do cover it but I don't want to watch it.

Is there a reason for this?

If someone only liked men's senior rugby I would understand a bit more, but liking school boys rugby but not females playing? I don't get it.

I don't know maybe the physicality, I just don't enjoy it. Same goes for boxing, enjoy men's boxing don't enjoy women's. Yet I love women's tennis and athletics, the tennis moreso than the men's game.

Kimmage on TodayFM now. He must have had a row with OTB, or just liked the regular slot that TodayFM gave him. He's also good pals with Cascarino so that may have helped convince him. Can stomach Cascarino tbh.

OTB surely should have offered him something. I wonder were they afraid to have him on after the recent article about Rob Heffernan and similar articles.

Agree with you. These feminazis won't be happy until the 50% of hod carriers are ale supping women.

Enjoyed plenty of women's sports at the olympics but they just aren't built for some sports.

    Love Andy Lee.

I was almost disappointed he wants to go back into the ring, I'd love if they had him on full time. He just comes across so well.
