I was thinking E750 considering they are in great shape. Is that too much or what?

€625 there, suppose €700 is grand for one go

It's a good rig except for a really weak graphics card relatively speaking. That will hurt the sale on adverts. I don't think you will get 700 for it. The parts are too randomly mis-matched. People who buy pre-built gaming PC's aren't usually overly interested in very high power supplies, motherboards, etc, they just care about games performance. And this one is not really any faster than a €300 PC due to the old graphics card.

Not too shabby. I suppose I could a few of them higher if there's much interest in them!

    Thanks man

Yeah, hadn't been able to afford a new GPU lately and this works absolutely perfectly. Able to play BF4 on high plus a ton of other games like Minecraft, CS, CSGO, CoD AW etc.

Surely the 660 is on par with a 750, if not a bit slower? There's also the unfounded hype around coolers (I remember your story about the i7 catching fire) and fast CPUs.

I do agree with the basis of this though jamo, I may be a little optimistic for you at €700

Unsure whether I can really upgrade this rig or if it'd be better to start afresh. Thinking of moving it on to get something beefier.

    Processor: AMD FX6200 Six-core @ 3.8GHz (64 bit)
    Motherboard: GA-78LMT-USB3
    RAM: 16GB RAM
    Graphics Card: GTX 660Ti 2GB
    Hard Drive Capacity: 1TB
WIFI capable: Comes with Wireless Adapter
    CD/DVD ROM: Yes
    USB 2.0 ports: 6
USB 3.0 ports: 2 (8 USB ports in total)
    2x Audio In+Out jacks
    2x HDMI slots
    3x DVI (I + D) slots
    1x Display Port
    1x VGA port

Alright, I'll have a look around and find out more on what prices are going for in each component on adverts, amazon and ebay.

I'll report back with figures soon!

Depending on what you play then the CPU should be okay, GPU is the bottleneck in a lot of cases I'd say. Though the CPU isn't fantastic either

Looking to sell my rig to buy a laptop instead. How much could I expect to fetch for this rig?

    EVGA GTX 660 OC €80 100
Corsair AX1200i ATX €100 200 Quite a few of them are fetching for 350 for brand new. This is only 12 months old so price reflects the age of it.
    Alpenföhn Brocken CPU Cooler €30
    TeamGroup Vulcan GOLD 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit €25 50
    Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - OC'd to 4.2GHz €200
    Asus Z87-K Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard €80 60 80 is highballing it a bit too much I think.
    Standard disk drive. €10
    1TB HDD €25
21" ASUS monitor. Unsure of model type but will find out.
    €75
I was thinking E750 considering they are in great shape. Is that too much or what?

That adds up to 750 and I'll throw in a mouse and a keyboard along with it.

Would that sound right or maybe I'm just a bit overoptimistic on the psu?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,397 ✭✭✭✭Digital Solitude

€100 for a 660 is too high anyways.

Not sure about the PSU, pulled €100 from my ass, if €350 is new then €200 is more than fair, but given it adds nothing to the PC you can't add €200 on to it.

8gb DDR3 is about €30 new so €50 second hand is a no

RAM for the same specs are going for E120+. 80 is sufficient with a min offer of 60.

I guess I can sell them all seperately with the exception of the CPU, MoBo and RAM. I could put it together for E250-300ish?

€30 is about standard for new RAM, what's your link?

€300 would be a good price for the CPU, mobo and RAM yeah, €350 isn't extortion with the cooler too.

If you look on adverts there are loads of GTX660/GTX670 based PC's floating around for 300+. Yes, they would have technically slower i5 processors in many cases, but real world 1080p performance between an i5-2500 and an i5-4670k is identical unless you have a monitor that goes above 60hz. Yes, the 660 is slightly faster than a 750Ti but would you pay €800 for 2nd hand GTX750Ti performance? The vast majority of people won't.
Unsure whether I can really upgrade this rig or if it'd be better to start afresh. Thinking of moving it on to get something beefier.

Sell as a whole unit and upgrade. The FX line is a bad bottleneck in many new games - not every game, but a considerable amount of them. Some games AMD's flagship FX9570 250w monster CPU is slower than an i3.

You could upgrade to an fx-8350 reasonably enough but overall I'd just ditch the FX line and go with an i5-based build which is pretty bulletproof.

and upgraded the PSU to a Seasonic M12II Bronze Evo Edition - 620 Watt

    thanks in advance

    Hi lads,
I posted this last year with the mind to sell it but never got around to it. It's been sitting in my room unused for the last 6 months so I'm gonna try shift it to someone that will actually get some use out of it.
I realise most of the parts are 3 years old now so I'm not expecting big money for it, but if it's only worth a relatively small amount I may keep it and use it occasionally.

Any ballpark figures of what I should list it at and what to take?

    Many thanks in advance

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,397 ✭✭✭✭Digital Solitude

I'd say its worth about €600 with all the accessories, its pretty much as fast as any i5 on the market, only the DDR3 is holding it back and even that isn't the biggest deal. I had it as the sum of individual parts, which as above doesn't always give a fair judgement.

That's off the top of my head and open to challenging as per usual though, don't take it as gospel.

Edit* Could probably bump to €700 or €750 with the monitor, though I'm not sure what a full spec with a mech keyboard, Blu Ray drive and a 270X is worth, its a mix of expensive accessories pushing the overall price up and the likes of a 270X bringing the overall value down

Hey, have a build that has been sitting idle since last November as I moved home and have no space. Specs below, please let me know what you think.

Core i5-4690K, on stock cooler never OD'd

    MSi Z97M G43 Motherboard

    Spphire R9 280 GPU

    8GB Crucial Ballistix Sprot RAM DDR3 1600

128 GB Crucial SSD, with Win 8.1

    1TB HDD, WD Blue

    Corsair PSU

    Corsair 350D Windowed Case

LG 23 inch IPS panel monitor

    CS Storm Keyboard and Mouse

    Thanks

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,397 ✭✭✭✭Digital Solitude

I'd give it about €650. Like the last few, worth more than the sum of it's parts, the 280 is holding back the value of it.

It's not worth a whole pile to be honest, parts are too old for me to assign prices to it but they're all well obsolete.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

The graphics cards are extremely obsolete but the core PC is sort of OK if you added a better graphics card. Still very outdated, but with a modern budget card like a €100 GTX750 you'd be able to play stuff like GTA V and Fallout 4 at acceptable levels.

It might be worth more as parts to be honest. Q9650 should net a decent return on Ebay (not sure about adverts), case should get 30 euro, each 8800GTX around 15-20 euro, blu-ray drive 15, so on and so forth.

But it wouldn't really fetch anything sold as a gaming rig because it simply can't play any modern games at all. The cards are a decade old and the CPU about 8 years old (even though the CPU is still somewhat usable). At a rough guess I think 150 or ballpark would be a very decent offer. However, most people won't really see the extra value in 3 sata drives versus 1, dual 8800GTX versus a single card, etc.

So I'd say sell a single 8800GTX for 20 euro, two of the three sata drives for 15 apiece or whatever, blu-ray drive for 15, then put up the rest as a working PC for 180-200 and see what happens.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B006ZU55Y0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Samsung Series 7 Chronos

    8GB RAM
    1TB HDD
    AMD Radeon HD 6750
    15.6" 1600x900 matte screen
The bezels around the screen are quite small so it's small for a 15" laptop.
