Back to the safety and sanctity of the Blue boys thread.

I'm aghast at the state of that Liston article.

Liston is as relevant to modern day GAA as my dog is to fly fishing. The pregame dressing room team talk of hunger/desire has long been replaced with stats, S&C and video analysis - a quantifiable dissection of your opponents, I've yet to see a formula for working out a teams hunger

Careful, rumour has it some of the Kerry folk read this thread too!

Speaking of which, who does JG leave out from the starting line up vs Donegal. Assuming James McCarthy is fit, he get's picked. Kilkenny reverts to his normal half forward slot.

My guess is that Macker reverts to the bench, as he tends to have more of an impact from the bench then say Paddy Andrews, as the aforementioned Kerry folk know only too well.

MDMA stays in ahead of Bastick.

Oh yeah Paddy starts all day long - it really is a pity that Bastick came so late to the senior set up, I'd probably start MDMA on Donaghy

Yerra, 15 pints and he'd still be able to win an All Ireland single handedly.

Who is he anyway, I never heard of him.

    Oh aye. Just woeful.

Oh my god. That will melt his face.

Anyone expecting Donaghy to start full forward?

Personally no ... I think Kerry will swamp the middle 3rd (protecting Donaghys legs) with bodies looking to break down the play further up the pitch than usual, expect a lot of disruption there on Sunday

Yeah you're right there DoctaDee. They'll be very defensive but not like Donegal and Tyrone.

Anything to be said for something radical? Mayo are ferocious around the middle third and last year Flynn dropped back to play as an extra midfielder. Seem to remember him pinging long diagonal balls forward all day. Flynn in midfield, KeV Mc up front & Andrews wing forward? Gets all our best performers on the pitch and we're not short of punch off the bench.

I think they'll be very like Tyrone and Donegal. They'll flood midfield and the half back line, and like Tyrone and Donegal, find themselves with the ball and only 1 or 2 forwards ahead of the play as they break.

If you're picking Kev Mc and Paddy Andrews, who are you dropping?

Neither. By moving Flynn back to midfield, we can have all 6 of Dermo, CK, Andrews, Kev Mc, Deano & Berno up front. Not so sure I'm comfortable with something so radical in such a big game. Midfield is such a unique position & calls for a specific skillset. If Flynner has never played a game there in his life, we've no idea how well he will do in reality, regardless of how well he may be doing in training. That's the kind of thing you try out in the league, not an AI semi final. Mind you, dropping CK back, worked out pretty well against Donegal, so you never know. Ok, I'm confusing myself now....

No chance but he'll definitely start a row or three with that big purple head on him :)

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

I think we'll see Donaghy up front. He doesn't have the legs for midfield. Plus, he caused absolute bloody havoc last year, when he came on. But for the rain, Kerry could have had two very handy goals, thanks to him. He brought an energy that Kerry were lacking all day. I was scared bloody $hitless watching from down the other end, on the Hill. Eamon Fitmaurice won't have forgotten that. Don't think he can do it for the full 70 minutes though...

I'm the exact opposite. I think the midfield experiment has been subterfuge. I can see him parked in the square for the entire game.

Ah he could very well start in there but I can see him being starved of ball and end up dropping into the middle third fairly lively which is exactly where we want him to be honest.

It's going to be an intriguing game and can't wait for it.

yeah he tracked him back well last year and I think he'll be tasked with that again, I genuinely think this is a huge game for MDMA he's the answer to Star, with a bit of luck he might bring him on a bit of a run too.

I know I give out about Donaghy. But he is a great addition to the Kerry lineup. If he's up front he'll cause trouble, midfield I think he'll be out of the game. He's a terrible tackler I could see him picking up an early yellow then walking on ice for the rest of the game, MDMA and Bastic can handle him in the middle. Kerry would be mad to not have him test us with him at 14.
I hope he starts at midfield. If not I wouldn't mind Buckley there he starts very well but gasses very quickly, Sheehan at midfield would also offer mobility issues that will.firther stress the Kerry halfback line and would suit us too.

I'm glad Fenton has a cool head.

And Kilkenny. Another wonderfully mature head, on young shoulders. They're both going to have big targets on their backs on Sunday. Wouldn't be a bit surprised if one of them accidentally on purpose, picks up a blood injury in the first 15 minutes.

Yeah it would be a huge ask for the wing backs

Can't see that back 6 holding the Dublin forwards. O'Sullivan is the only player I'd fancy off the bench too.

Was watching the news tonight and noticed Byran Sheehan was taking kickouts off a tee.

Wonder are the rumours of him lining out in goal are true.
