Thoughts are that as nearer it gets my realism is sinking in. Not worried about this game. Kerry have been gash for a year and there's zero evidence to suggest that they're gonna turn up. All this crap about them aiming for this game is balls.

Sure we're missing who we are missing but the way we handled Donegal and they are slightly better than Clare shows that there is a patience to this team to wait for the scores to properly present themselves.

I want us to absolutely pummel them into submission and I'll be disappointed with anything else.

I'm not being complacent, and we all know that Dublin don't do complacency these days.

Genuine question: what's the most that Kerry have been beaten by in championship football in the last say 10 or 15 years?

I'd be in the same boat feeling Dublin could give them a clipping but I can't ever remember that happening to Kerry. More likely to be similar to last year's final, with a low enough margin but never really in too much doubt.

Would it be the 7 points in 2013. I have a feeling though that Cork gave them a hammering one year, only to be beaten later on by them.

Was it 7 that year?? I had it in my head that was another 3 or 4 but being comfortable; maybe I'm mixing my games up, sorry. Could well be that one so.

Yeah the startled earwigs year - Cork caned them by 8 in the Munster semi - 3rd Sunday in Sept revenge was taken on them

Yeah its was seven alright, but Dublin only tacked on the extra scores right at the end.
Very rarely you hear a seven point win named a "classic" but this one was.

Funny enough Dublin's seven point win was a much closer game than last years three point win!

Ah yes the fabled "they were only tacked on at the end" spiel.

When was the end? From the 63rd minute when Kerry scored their last score which was a Darran O'Sullivan score? 10% and about 10 minutes or so to go and not a bean of a chance.

Kerry were goosed and failed to score for over 10% of the match plus injury time.

Dublin were well worth the 7 points that day. To only go in 2 points up at HT was criminal from Kerry and the "genius" that is EF.

And we'll be worth the 7 points the next day. No way we're giving up this supremacy.

Not a spiel by any means. We were level in the 70th Minute in that game, then scored a goal to pull three clear.
We scored another point and a goal in added time.
So yeah, I stand by my point that it was a close game and we added the extra points "at the end".

That's not to say we weren't full value for the win, more so that this was a much closer game despite the 7 point win than last years final where we always looked comfortable and the 3 points flattered Kerry.

I dunno, I generally thought we were full value for the 7. Once the equalising score went over I thought we would win it. Never worried. Re last year, yeah, the 3 points flattered Kerry.

I just think there's a tendency of Dubs to talk us down a wee bit when it comes to Kerry results and I can't stand it and it gets my back up hugely.

Grand, looking forward to a very tight and lucky 11 point win next week :)

One of the funniest things I have read in a long time, thanks! :D:D

Recently in the Championship it's Cork in 2009 or us in 2013.
Cork have beaten them by 5 points the odd time in Munster.

But you'd have to go back to 1990 for this beauty:

    Cork 2-23 - 1-11 Kerry (15 points)

And then of course this one in 2001:

    Meath 2-14 - 0-5 Kerry (15 points)

And Down by 6 in 2010 pops out.

Ah Kerry weren't goosed. Declan O' Sullivan had a great chance that flashed just wide on 68 minutes. From the kick out just after they'd 3 players against MDM. On another day they win possession easily. Point is it was fine margins that day. Very fine margins.

    They were goosed.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

    ..........................

And then of course this one in 2001:

    Meath 2-14 - 0-5 Kerry (15 points)

Ah yeah remember it well ... I brought the future Mrs Doc to that game, resplendent in her royal jersey that she was given by John McDermott. 2 things that stuck with me from that day were a group of Kerry supporters a row down from us - they started the match in their full regalia, jersey and those woolly strings. An unease came on them, and by early 2nd half they'd removed the jerseys and strings and walked out of Croker with no obvious signs that they were from da kingdom

Then of course in amongst the throng from mordor they started the oléing all round me, I could feel me wisdom teeth tingling and a gag reflex in my throat .. I think that was the last time I came anywhere close to having a sympathetic feeling for Kerry ;)

    You're a weak man.

As tough as it is to support Mordor and by god it's nigh on impossible, I would have dressed in full on Royal Regalia for that.

It is not. I don't think you get how strong the Kerry hate is in this one.

True, I always supported Meath outside of the province, except one year when they played Down. Loved their games against Cork and to a lesser extent Mayo.

The 2009 semis were a horror show for me once Cork beat Tyrone.

Gough? I think he's the best intercounty ref there is. At least it's not McQuillan.

    He's very blowy!

He was fierce blowy in the Tyrone/Mayo game alright.

One of the best refs around in my opinion.

Surprised he didn't get the final.

He had a great first half in that game. Can't really remember the second.

Pretty much impossible not to in a game of that nature the way both teams were set up to be fair to him.

True, sure he had to book Cavanagh and Keegan for rolling around wrestling before the whistle even blew in the second half.
