My opinion on Goalkeepers is either have 1 strong 5.5 GK e.g. De Gea and a bench fodder GK of 4m.
Or to have 2 cheap Gks that rotate well e.g. Foster and Heaton.
No need for De Gea and Foster IMO as De Gea should probably start every week to justify the price tag.

That could help you upgrade Paredes to a 4.5m Def.

Would appreciate a bit of advice on this.

    Kone - hold or drop?
Tadic - downgrade to Redmond for a Kane fund for GW2?
    Anything else obvious I'm missing?

GK: I'd switch Foster to Jakupovic and save 0.5 M.

DF: Two 4.0 M defenders is a risk, keep Amat and upgrade Paredes to a 5.0/4.5 defender (Morgan/Stones/Friend) To do this I'd downgrade Azpi to Terry if you want Chelsea cover. They've looked shaky in preseason though.

MF is fine to start with, maybe bank some money so you can make a transfer to Hazard/Sanchez if they have a fast start.

FW: I've the same three :).

Am not that regular of a poster here but agree with the sentiments that if people post a team looking for advice, they should be willing to give some back.

This is my final team I reckon.....last chance to look at it again will be this evening after work, when I promise to offer feedback on others sides,so appreciate any thoughts on my side, picked with WC GW3 in the long term plan.

    Foster
    Friend Stones Mee
    Firmino Lamela Hazard Townsend

    Jaku, Evans Redmond Amat

    1.5m in the bank
    3:4:3 usual set up.

    Thanks for any thoughts.

It's hard to know with Kone as we can assume he will probably force a move through to Everton but as it stands he's a bit in limbo. You are planning to WC in GW3 aren't you? If so, maybe someone else like Souare would be an option? It's not like you will be playing him this GW anyway so its only GW2 & 3 you need to consider.

GW2 play Amat (assuming he plays) HULL
    GW3 play Soaure BOUR

I can't make my mind up on Tadic or Redmond myself... Redmond seems to be in favour there and it does free up a nice few quid

I am leaving 0.5 in the bank to do Mahrez to Hazard if required after GW1 so always good to have something in the bank.

Anybody going for Ayew? Got 7.5 for a midfielder but they've a tough enough start

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭LikeTheseOdds

    GK -> Adrian - Mandanda
    DEF -> Valencia - Stones - Pieters - Walker - Evans
    MID -> Lamela - Hazard - Martial - Redmond - Capoue
    FOR -> Aguero - Lukaku - Gray

How's this looking? Been playing around with my team for a while now, think i'm getting close.

Downgrade Tadic to Redmond and do Vardy to Ibra or are you not a fan of the United striker? It seems like Kone is staying with Sunderland and I wouldn't be a fan of any Sunderland defenders tbh.

Maybe Foster to Forster, Kone to Evans/McAuley, Tadic to Redmond, Lamela to a 6.5 mid and Vardy to Ibra? That's a lot of changes and basically just me trying to make your team look like my latest draft :p

I don't think Ayew justifies that price tag, really. Not when you consider the other options for the same money: Fabregas, Pedro, Tadic, Cazorla (who hasn't had a mention on here), Lamela, Spacecraft, Siggy, Barkley, Arnie etc.
I know he scored 10+ goals last season, but Chelsea and City in the first three matches, both of them away, so I'll be waiting to see how well he starts this year before considering him. Might feature in my early WC if he does well.

Yeah when you look at all the options available, he isn't worth a shot just yet. One of the watchlist I reckon. Back to the drawing board!

Watchlist is the right call, I'd say.

Another that hasn't had much traction here on Boards similar to Cazorla, is Eriksen. Do people not think he's going to be able to reproduce the form of last season? He didn't get near my team, but that was solely because of the price difference between himself and Alli, but they're the same price this time 'round.

Not buying the Ibrahimovic love at all. He might explode, but so might Vardy or Kane. Vardy has 2 great fixtures in the first 3, so I'm rolling the dice with him. Kane is a GW2 captain option if he looks sharp.

Even if Ibrahimovic hits the ground running, a game at home to Southampton in GW2 is ok, but not necessarily one I'd be overly anxious not having him for.

I'm strongly considering martial now for Siggy and going with vardy over Ibra ............

    Best Siggy alternative lads?

    Playing 352...

rest of midfield is Alli/Townsend/Redmond/Hazard and have 8.5m to spend

Firmino is a possibility. I have him atm.

Not 100% on Spurs, think they will take time to get going. A lot of players went to the Euros

With the doubts over Siggy, and Souare looking to be ok, I think I'm done. I reworked it so I could have 8m for Siggys spot thinking Firmino was 8.0 only to then realise he was 8.5. That's how I ended up with Ramsey, also a bit of insurance in case the Liverpool Arsenal game is highscoring, which I fear it might be.

I am definitely doing the BigBig Front 3, and glad to have the balance of 2 decent price slots in midfield so I can get Siggy for GW2, or possibly get in Kane if he looks good.

With the Northwest Derby and associated pints tonight I'll be leaving this locked in shortly, with perhaps a quick check in the morning for injury news.

    Foster (Jakupovic)
    Friend, Stones, Souaré (Amat, Smith)
    Hazard, Redmond, Ramsey, Townsend (Capoue)
    Vardy, Aguero (c), Ibra

Remember in the "Resolutions" thread where I said my fetish for premium forwards would be something I'd be working on this season - well scratch that, I'm off the wagon!! :D

In a good or bad way!!

I could go with Valencia over Stones and Lamela instead of Rambo either but Spurs away to Everton won't be easy so leaving Spurs cover till GW2 seemed best.

I accidentally fell into a team with Hazard, Sanchez, Aguero and Vardy an am quite satisfied with it tbh after trying to find an obvious fault with it for ages!

    Forster (Jakupovic)
    Shaw Stones Friend (McAuley Amat)
    Hazard Deulofeu Redmond Sanchez (Capoue)
    Aguero Vardy Gray

I'm happy with the defence of having two keepers who can rotate reasonably well if needed. Shaw and Stones are template leaving a rotating Friend, Pulisball and Amat.

I always stuck with a strong front 8 last year but I might change my tactics a bit this season. Sanchez is going into very unknown territory but should be playing as a CF and has always enjoyed playing Liverpool. He may not be completely match fit and I don't want him to go on his similar jaded form at the start of last season. Deulofeu is my baby and nobody is taking him away from me!

Was never completely keen on Vardez again this season but Vardy has played well throughout the summer in fairness. I'd be lying if I said I don't have Ibra-fear though.

    Think I'm settled now:

Mandanda (Foster) Not convinced Mandanda will start tomorrow but Foster guaranteed
    Friend Stones Shaw (Paredes Evans)
    Mahrez, Ramsey, Firmino, Redmond, (Hojberg)
    Ibra, Aguero (c), Wilson

I'd like to try get Deulofeu in but need to find 0.5

Wow, that's a nice team! Only thing I'd be afraid of is going in with no United defensive coverage. And leaving a lot of money in the front line could mean you'd be strapped for cash if a premium midfielder or two explodes and you're finding yourself needing to get a Mourinho defender. Early wildcard may be on the cards.

Will have wildcarded by GW3 or 4.

If that wasn't the plan no way I'd have that team structure.

    Vardy/Firmino vs Lamela/Ibra

Already have Mahrez, feel like two Leicester players is too much but Hull are Hull

    De Gea, Pickford
    Shaw, Stones, Friend (McAuley, Amat)
    Firmino, Mahrez, Tadic, Townsend (Ibe)
    Vardy, Gray, Aguero
