Well done all you Rock 'n Roll racers! It was very exciting to be part of the day, and I had twinges of race envy watching everyone from the trucks! Baggage duty was intense but a lot of fun. Highlight of my day was getting to hand the winner his bag! Had a few boardsies come up to say hi and that was awesome too.

I'll be running in the park on Saturday (5 miles easy run for me!) but definitely not at your kind of pace! If I see a pack of runners breeze past me, I'll be sure to say hello!

Anyone who hasn't signed up yet I'd advise you to get signed up today.

I kinda feel guilty for signing up now because when if I fail miserably I'll have stolen a place from someone who might have done it justice. :pac:

Well done TG - how do your next few weeks look like training wise? You can regale us with some taper-madness stories. :)

Thanks! My mid-week mileage has basically peaked now, so it's more of the same for the next few weeks, and my long runs alternate between 14 and 20 miles.

Not even thinking about the taper yet!

Just moved down a wave, what was I thinking?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,428 ✭✭✭scotindublin

Reading on the various threads it looks lIke the waves have changed; I am assuming that it is ok to drop down from Wave 1 to Wave 2?

I think wave 1 is now sub 3:35....that wont be happening!

It's fine to drop down on the day, you don't need to do anything. Moving up waves needs to be done in advance.

Have all the novices signed up for this year?

    http://www.independent.ie/sport/other-sports/athletics/runners-warned-that-entry-levels-for-2016-dublin-marathon-are-close-to-capacity-34951343.html

Please don't hold off anymore as you will likely miss out.

Hope all your running is going well, make sure you all get signed up!

What was that online running shoe store that you were all talking about using recently?

    I think it was
http://www.runningshoesguru.com or sportsshoes.com who I have used several times. Both look good for prices.

    Maybe this one? http://www.runningwarehouse.eu
There's usually discount codes floating about if you google for them.

Running delayed due to low batteries in the watch. D'oh.

You could go for a run without it...?

Indeed. I prefer to keep an eye the stats, though. :P

My heart rate monitor battery was gone tonight, just ran without it, felt nice to run by feel, enjoyable 4 miles, felt good tonight. Nice foam rolling session and stretching afterwards.

It's official now - 2016 will be a sellout. Any of you novices that haven't signed up yet should really do so today as the below has been posted on Facebook and will be in national newspapers today. Good luck!
With our SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon entries now exceeding our 2015 record levels, we would like to remind interested participants that we've less than 600 entries available before we reach our race limit of 17,500.

Due to safety reasons, we've a cut off point for entries this year. However we hope to be able to increase this further for our 2017 Marathon.

If you would like to join us for our largest event yet then sign up now for just €80 as entry will close on or before Friday 12th August depending on numbers.

Don't know if this has ever been posted but anyone who has finished a marathon will confirm it's all true...

I had a moment of panic this morning, where I wasn't sure if I'd signed up for it, or just for the race series. And I couldn't find the email confirmation! Finally found it, phew!

    Hope everyone here got registered!

Same as! Had a quick check to make sure I had the DCM acceptance slip and not just the Race Series bibs

Garmin 305 battery appears to be gone. Second time I've had it on full charge and has then been completely flat the next day. Arse.

Went out this evening and my thigh went numb again :(
I keep taking 2-3 days off, leg starts to get better, I run and then it goes numb again.
I'm going to take a week off and just cross-train/stretch/swim, I'm a little ahead of my program, I'd prefer let this silly injury fully heal instead of cutting my runs short all the time, I'm afraid it will turn into something more serious :(

I'll have to take a rain-check on meeting everyone :(

Sorry to hear that kitty, did you get that physio appointment in the end? Try and get it treated if you can as well as taking the week off. Also, you're most welcome to join us for coffee in the cafe at Farmleigh afterwards :)
