What about the text when you hover over it? That would be more important imo.

Castleblakeney in Galway gone back to blue from green as well. The timeline is still winter/spring 2016/2017.

That's a GPON card being installed into what looks like an existing FTTC node. That is handy to already have the chassis installed, saves some time in their rollout.

The most hilarious thing about that is the anti-static wrist strap....Brilliant :)

While it should prob have been tight on the technicians wrist, it is worn to protect the fiber optic equipment/linecard/chassis which the tech will touch when plugging in fibers so unsure how it is hilarious?

My exchange according to the latest map got vectored, but there's no change in the attainable's on my router.

Another cabinet also got enabled and is live but according to the digiweb database, and all the previous numbers I tried surrounding that cabinet, there is also no difference in the attainable's for those houses.

    What gives!

When did the change happen? New APQ may not be published yet.

They were installing orange fibre cable in Dunleer, Co. Louth today

    @ED_E

Couple of days ago I think but I can't be sure. The map previously showed the exchange at 70MB/s but now it shows 100Mb/s. I seen a Eir Van working at the exchange on Tuesday.

What map shows when vectoring is enabled?

I assumed when a exchange based cabinet goes from 70Mb/s to 100 on the eir map that means it's vectored, I'm open to correction.

I tried the post office which is built beside the exchange and it still shows the max attainable of 70.

If im on one of those blue lines on the map what can I expect?
I currently have eFibre at 20 megs
How do I find out if i have vectoring on?
My exchange says "Estimated date for first Live FTTH Fibre Services with speeds up to 1000Mb/s is Winter 2016/ Spring 2017".
Can that be believed? My cabinet was one of the first enabled for FTTC a few years ago. But I only recently passed the test to get it even though the neighbours have all had it since the beginning.

As far as I know, the houses along blue lines are for FTTH not FTTC, being rolled out from 2017 to 2020 with speeds up to 1000Mb/s

I've been told the vectoring card is installed in all exchanges, just not enabled, this will be done remotely

I'd assume it's correct, not many areas have a timeline yet for the install. FTTH is different technology to what you have currently so you won't be limited by your landline.

    Sounds great.
Am I guaranteed getting it if i am on a blue line?
And when they say houses will start getting it, is it possible , like with efibre that it could be years after the first person gets it that everyone else can

You should get it if you're on a blue line. I have no idea about the install process but guessing I would imagine once it hits the area it should be relatively quick for everyone it's available to.

If your house in Amber on NBP map and your house on blue line you get FTTH.

Hank, you said non of the houses attainables have changed, but I think you mean prequals haven't changed right?

Check the line stats, they'll instantly improve when vectoring is enabled. Mainly you'll see your SNR climb significantly.

    Yeah, the prequals haven't changed.

On my own router the SNR stats appear to be the same, as are the max attainable rates. I'm on the 40/10 profile, router says max DL is 56 and max UL is 17 which has always been the case.

Hank, the max speed is given by exchange, but vectoring is enabled by cabinet. Your cab may not be enabled for vectoring.

My house is in a blue circle about 500 meters wide surrounded by amber. Its on the blue line.
I guess im out of luck then.
There is a wireless provider here, well known for being unusable, so no chance of getting decent service off them and definitely not FTTH speeds.

Rob is not correct I believe. This initial rollout by openeir is separate to the NBP so blue areas may not come into it. If you are on a blue line you should be able to order it when it rolls out.

Not necessarily - the blue area thing is now considered inaccurate, as the Gov has decided to include houses in the NBP that are not receiving the minimum 30Mbps/6Mbps service. As you are on 20Mbps, then that should cover you ... for sometime before 2021-22.

Now whether eir decide to include the houses that the blue lines pass that currently receive <30Mbps ... it's not set in stone, but if it happens you'll be laughing by mid-2017.

No guarantees on any of the foregoing by the way!!! :p:p:p This sh1t changes like the weather. :D

I was just point out if your house in Amber which is houses eir targeting for there rural FTTH because there still part of NBP.There concetrating on bring FTTH to areas that don't have FTTC access if your getting under 30mb you get FTTH.The new add houses in FTTC areas for NBP aren't in included rural rollout unless eir make some statement about it and takes some of the rural houses out of there rollout.

Have you any official statement from Openeir that premises in rural exchange areas that may now have a FTTC service will be prevented from ordering a FTTH service even though a cable may be passing their driveway?

If you have no statement from Openeir can you clarify why you are making such claims?

There Notting to say they wouldn't more than likely people living in FTTC areas will get upgrade to FTTH at some stage but not with rural rollout unless there getting under 30mb.The good thing about FIbre going through a town or village at a later stage they would be able to upgrade them to FTTH.

You keep repeating this as fact despite having no basis for doing so. Please stop posting misinformation. It is helping nobody.

Do we know it is misinformation?

Do we know it is misinformation?

I have asked him for official clarification on the matter. He has not or can not provide it. It makes no sense to assume that Openeir will turn away prospective customers after having invested their own capital rolling out cable.

Therefore on the balance of probabilities I am deeming it misinformation.

    OK.
So what we have is two opposite opinions with nothing official either way.
    Thanks for the clarification. ;)
