this phone all it seems to be cracked up to be?

Have an HTC One M8 which is a brilliant phone so that's the baseline.

Sorry but this phone slams the HTC M8 on every level. No comparison. Anyone who tells you a phone from what 2 years ago doesn't step up with the one plus three is off their head.

Have been looking at upgrading my slowly fading Nexus 4 but I see availability is going to be very limited.

How exactly does it slam it? If you are a "spec whore" then sure, yeah it has better specs. Newer processor, more ram, and better gpu. At the end of the day a casual user will be disappointed because there isn't that much to write home about. Give some actual examples of why it's better instead of making a fanboy statement :)

I even found the screen on my LG G3 to be better in quality, don't get me wrong here... I'm absolutely loving my OP3 but it's not mind blowing - the only thing new to me is the fingerprint unlock, which is lightning quick and much more responsive than any other device I've seen using these. At the end of the day, a phone 2 years newer will obviously be better.. but my point is that if the HTC is still working fine there isn't enough here to warrant a €400 upgrade.

    Spec whore?

Sorry buddy but it slams it for all the reasons you mentioned.

Any person on the street unless blind or have no fingers will notice a stark difference in performance between the two.

Just browsing or opening and using applications.

Life isn't about just chugging along with a phone that works I've plenty in the drawer that do that. That I certainly wouldn't go back to.

You are wrong to compare them and as wrong to say it isn't a step up which is what you did.

    Its a clear step up.

Oh yeah and its not 400 Euro if he sells his old one.

Coming from my one plus one which was perfectly fine there is everything to warrant a switch.

Great response - wouldn't expect any less. If you honestly believe a former top android phone @ only 2 years old is chugging, then your OP3 won't last you very long.

You said that it wasn't a step up. You went on to specify exactly the reasons it is a step up.

At this point your opinion is questionable because you are giving conflicting points.

    Quite hilarious.

And why wouldnt you expect anything less.?

    Genuinely interested go on

The reasons listed were showing the difference, I don't believe it's a step up at €400. My old G3 was easily as quick as this phone (probably couldn't keep the same amount of apps open mind). If you think it's a big enough jump to justify €400, that's fair enough. Maybe list your reasons instead of just outright going against me.

edit: went back through my post to find where I said it wasn't a step up, I never said that.

"Yeah if you really need a new phone this is a cracking phone, but my honest opinion is - it's not going to be enough of an upgrade over an M8"

So is your opinion now questionable too because you're just pulling **** out of thin air?

The only thing the HTC One M8 has that the OP3 doesn't is expandable storage but when you consider the OP3 has 64gb internal storage which is 4x the storage of the M8(16gb) and twice that of the 32gb model then is it really a drawback?
Also the camera on the OP3 is superior if that is something that floats your boat.
It's really not fair to compare though, the M8 is 2+ years old and is not expected to trade blow for blow with the OP3.

Camera is definitely superior - It's keeping up with the latest flagships from what I've seen so far. 64GB should be plenty of storage for anyone now with everything moving to cloud storage too - I don't see myself running out of space anytime soon :)
You're bang on, it won't trade blow for blow - a fair comparison is probably the M10 v OP3... The only point I'm trying to make is if the HTC M8 is still working fine and you don't have €400 burning a hole in the pocket, you don't really need to make this upgrade just yet.

100% agree but it's still a very noticeable upgrade.

Are people just sticking with the Google Camera app or a third party one?

I've come directly from HTC M8 to OPO 3.

I loved my HTC. The OPO 3 is a good upgrade and all but it's not like you're going from Nokia 3210 to iPhone, the leaps between the phones aren't that huge anymore.

It's quicker (naturally since my HTC was 2 years old) and the battery is much better.

Dash charge is a feature worth spending the money for alone!

I thought the M8 had a quickcharge thing? My G3 to this feels the same, it's not leaps like some make it out to be... but the dash charge is just amazing... almost makes me not care one bit about battery life cos I'll just pop it on charge for 30 mins and good to go!

No. The "recommended" ways to charge a battery was for oooold batteries and not applicable to Li-Ion batteries.

Scarware websites doing what they do best.

Next they are going to say a Android phone (including op3) can be hacked ... By hackers.

Nice one OP, glad you finally got one, even if it is the gold one :p

Now leave the plastic alone, it's grand where it is

    Haha thanks Marc.

Im confused whether the plastic on the plug where it says "Power Supply Unit, MODEL" is meant to be removed. If yours hasn't caught fire yet, I'll leave it alone :pac:

For those who ordered the Gold variant how long did it take for it to be delivered? I'm assuming it's the Graphite version that's taking too long to be shipped because the Gold one has only been out for a week yeah?

P.S. I already have a Graphite version, the above question was for a friend who intends to order the gold variant. Cheers !
