VW would never use similar tactics as used re nox to reduce co2 figure as applied to a car.
I mean why would they. It's not like a lower co2 would make any car more desirable. No never. I mean lower tax, vrt and lower perceived fuel consumption would not be something a good upstanding company like vw would be tempted to cheat over.

As mentioned previously - CO₂ figure is directly related to the fuel economy (it is actually fuel economy that is derived from the CO₂ emission in test).

NEDC test is bad and does not reflect real worlds scenarios. The quoted consumption figures seem like cheating, but that's what is achieved in this test. Contrary to US, independent testing is performed in Europe.

Looks good except for the floor mats but easily purchased from a breaker plus rear DVD players and cheapest hybrid on DD..

A great car. Is it me or is there no mention of mileage?

That's been flip flopping on price for the last while and he doesn't appear to answer the phone so don't know what's going on there...

Would switching one of those or a 450h to run on LPG be a possibility? Just wondering.

I went to look at this at the weekend out of interest. Wasn't my cup of tea, I prefer my Mondeo ST for the minute. Nice tight car but needed a service. Part time dealer selling it but he was very upfront with me and met me at the house.

Converting a diesel to LPG is not an economic idea. Pointless in a hybrid too.

GS450h and GS300 have a direct injection. Not worth the effort.

Both of the V8 (GS430 and GS460) have indirect injection and are good candidates for conversion. What's interesting LS460 has direct injection and conversion is not feasible.

It's not pointless - the GS450h is as hungry as GS300, so the savings would be substantial. It is just not a good engine for the conversion...

No I meant converting a gs300 or gs450h to lpg. The s60 linked was a total aside.

What do we make of this? NCT exempt, classic tax, allegedly no rust and four good tires. Could moonlight as a wedding driver on the weekends to keep fuel in it through the week :D

hybrid savings get eaten by the battery and motor weight, if you were doing 70% city driving you'd save, 50/50 you won't

The hybrid is thirsty but not when you consider the power - my god it's a beast.
Also, the hybrid can be driven in a manner that will prove reasonably efficient but that is just a waste of the power available.
Over a weekend, I got just under 30 mpg driving fairly hard in a gs 450h. Similar economy as I get in my 1.8T audi with about half the power.

    GS300 - 32.8mpg
    GS450h - 31.9mpg

    http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/realmpg/lexus/gs-2005

GS450h was never about extreme economy (why would it - the car was never cheap in the first place)... It was more about giving the V8 performance with a V6 economy and in a package that was a hybrid, which in many places gave additional parking spots, commuter lanes and access (like London centre).

You don't have to convince me :)

I bought a gs300 last year, loved it so much I went out beginning of this year and bought the same year 450h.
I can't recommend them more, go for the 450h though you won't regret it. Real worked driving there is literally no difference in consumption.
Power delivery in the 300 is a bit more aggressive compared to the 450h but the 450h is noticeably quicker once you're up to speed.

Mine will be up for sale in the next 3 or 4 months, I'm on the hunt for the right LS.

I just picked up a GS450h, very very very impressed having come from a 335i - totally different beast. Pity about the boot :pac:

It's very cheap, in fact waay too cheap for what it claims to be. It's the LWB version which is good, if it has been fully restored then when was it done and I'd like to see the photo file.

You need to get it onto a lift/ramp and have a good look at any subframes and any other suspected RR rust hiding spots. If there is rust or any hydraulic leaks then it's serious money to fix on a Roller.

If it checks out then it's a serious bargain and you'd make good money selling it abroad but I'd take a RR expert or mechanic with me for a look which includes putting it on a ramp.

It needs a bit of a clean but looks like the only thing that wasn't ticked was the wood steering wheel which I'll hopefully remedy. Will get some pics up after its had a wash :)

I have the timber wheel I'm told it was a 1400 euro option but it's class.

Yay it's a savage bus and relatively bullet proof too plus they are very rare...

You can take the reg holder off though. It was the same on my Prelude and I removed it and it really improved the look of the car.

They're a nice car but I think I'd want something a bit more special considering the tax. I'd imagine you could chip a fair bit off though.

A similar 2007 S350 (for example) with miles as low and with tax and test isn't going to be 5 grand though..
