I don't get love for Firmino, especially considering 4 of the first 5 games are away, which includes trips to Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea. That's as tough a run as it possibly gets.

The other "favourable games" of the first 5 GWs surely won't be that easy either (away to Burnley and home to Leicester)

In general I think Liverpool will shot a lot goals this season. They have a great offensive potential, so do other teams of course, but with Klopp (gegenpressing) and really intensive preseason (trainings) they will quick adapt to the matches. So in my opinion fixtures dont matter. The other side is their deffensive players. I bet the scores like 3-2, 4-3 will be happening.
Yep, all true and also it's very tough to know who of Firmino, Coutinho or Mane will be the best option, all 3 are worth consideration imo but potentially too much luck needed to land on the right one.

If you're gonna pick a Liverpool mid at the start I'd go for Coutinho. He scored a lot of goals in the games against big teams last season like Man City and Chelsea away. He's more fixture proof than Firmino I think.

So basically the front will be like:
    Sturridge
    Coutinho - Firmino - Mane
    Can - Henderson (Wijnaldum)

Firminos biggest advantage is that he didnt have any international matches like Sturridge or Coutinho. He and Mane were availabe from the beggining for Klopp. Against Roma during the week, Firmino was very often doubling Sturridge position, when he was getting ball from the mids.

Whats more in 4-3-3 I bet that Firmino will play upfront rather than Sturridge. Klopp loves this Brazilian guy. Especially for his work rate.

And the thing with fixture proof.. Firmino scored 2 against Arsenal and had 2 goals and 3 assists against City in 2 matches. Not so bad, ehm? He is definitely bigger threat than Coutinho.

For me he is must have this season.

Would much rather have Firmino in my team imo - think he will really kick on this season. Coutinho too inconsistent with his shimmy and shoot from 30 yards and the odd one flies in - think firmino has great value this year @ 8.5 if liverpool start well.

Think I'm coming to a team I'm happy to start the season with:

    GK: Foster, Jakupovic
DF: Terry, Souare, Shaw, Mee, Evans
MF: Mahrez, Sigurdsson, Tadic, Townsend, Capoue
    FW: Aguero, Ibrahimovic, Gray

0.5m in the bank to use but not sure yet where. Might upgrade to an Everton defender for Evans.

I think Leicester and Swansea attacking cover is essential for the first two weeks. Hull are a shambles atm!

Okie doke, I don't agree with Firmino being a must have, nevermind being fixture proof. I'd consider Aguero as the only player in FPL that is.

Personally, I'll be avoiding the Liverpool attack until they have favourable fixtures (GW6 or GW9) or one of Mane, Firmino, Coutinho, Sturridge emerges as the main points scorer. Too much potential for those guys to take points off each other and too difficult fixtures for my liking.

Hopefully it works out for you though!

I don't think I can face into Leicester at home to the shambles that are hull without mahrez. I may even go with him instead of hazard first as they are a similar price .or possibly both!
I'm also now looking at the legend that is Fuchs again

Hull are at home if that makes any difference to you.

Oh yes of course sorry the foxes have back to back home games after that so I should have known !
I'm sitting down properly tomorrow to have one good go at it
Then tear it all up next week
Fuchs Is 5.5 thought he was 5
    That's a shame

Starting to see a little bit of a template taking place on here now. It has taken a while but there's a bit of a pattern between some GK/DEF's/FOR's :)

    GK's: Foster/Jakupovic
    DEF's: Terry/Shaw
    FOR: Aguero/Ibra/Gray or Negredo

Midfield seems to be quite different for many.

Contrary to my post in the general thread:

How long before Sanchez starts getting mentioned as he's due to play this weekend along with Ramsey?

I've got Schmeichel in goal - breaking the mould or stupidity? :o

Here's where I'm at. It's a bit templately at the moment.

    Valdes / Jakupovic
    Stones / Evans / Friend / Francis / Paredes
    Mahrez / Mkhitaryan / Tadic / Townsend / Kightly
    Aguero / Ibra / Gray

    0.5 in the bank

I never get my goalie selections right so just keeping it cheap for now and see what develops.

Stones and Evans are in there in the hope/expectation of a move to bigger clubs but seem decent value regardless. Paredes is bench fodder. Torn between Francis and Ake. Friend seems to be a popular choice in the price bracket.

Mahrez has to be there at least for the Hull match. Mkhitaryan might go for Hazard. Have a good feeling about Tadic. Townsend is a throw of the dice - think if he starts well he's a keeper. If not there's plenty more fish in the sea. Kightly is bench fodder.

    Front three is template.

I'm waiting till next week. Its pointless doing it too seriously before now. The last set of friendlies and the charity shield will see people make lots of changes. Vardy or mahrez scoring will see ownership soar. Rooney or Martial scoring will see people move towards them. Ive tinkered with my team a bit but compared to previous seasons I'm very chilled out about the whole thing so far. Next week will be a different story I'd imagine.

Exactly the same. I wore myself out picking teams last year and its a waste of time. Swore I wouldn't do that this year and I haven't. I picked a team. Made couple of changes to defence. Swapped in Mahrez and thats it. Have hardly logged into site, but keeping a good eye on here and on twitter.

I'm fairly happy with the team as it stands too. But the real test will be the Charity Shield and the final week.

Who is this guy by the way? How come he's in so many teams? Is he even a starter for £4.5m?

Boro defender. Seems to be nailed on in a team that had a good defence in the lower division, and have good fixtures to start.

    Currently going with:

    Mandanda*/Pickford

    Azpil*/Shaw*/Evans*/Funes Mori/Friend

    Tadic*/De Bruyne*/Mkhitaryan*/Adomah/Bolasie*

    Aguero*/Negredo*/Grey

*indicates my locked-in starters. Rest rotated on home GW's etc.....Funes Mori in instead of Evans for season opener, 3-4-3 set up

With 1.0 left in the bank.

Why are you leaving that 1m in the bank? surely use it to upgrade bolasie or adomah.

    Guys opinions on this please:

    GK: De Gea , Jaku

Defenders: Shaw, Friend, Baines, Smith, Paredes

Midfielders: Ibe, Fabregas, Siggy, Payet, Feghouili

    Strikers: Aguero, Ibra, Long

Defence is a bit weak. I would downgrade Ibe to a 4.5 mid like Capoue and upgrade Paredes to a better defender. Also Payet may not be ready for GW1 as he was allowed extra time off after the Euros. I would also switch Fabregas for Tadic as I think he'll have a good start. Otherwise it's grand.

EDIT: Noticed you have Long already so double Saints probably not a good idea. Maybe Fab to Tadic and Long to Gray?

First serious draft for me, pretty set on frontline.

Solid team, only issue for me would be Wasilewski. I doubt he'll play. Maybe Brad Smith would be a better pick for a 4m defender. Otherwise can't really fault it.

Any feedback on this first draft:

    Foster/Jakupovic

    Shaw/Terry/Friend/Evans/Fernandez
    Siggy/Cesc/Feghouli/Mahrez/Redmond
    Aguero/Zlatan/Gray

Decent imo. Again I'm all for Tadic to start off with, I think he's a cracking player and great value at 7.5m. Redmond and Feghouli aren't 100% nailed on and Cesc may have a deeper role under Conte. I would try to fit Tadic in there anyway.
