Question: before I use the pattern to unlock my phone (S7) screen there is a small "3" in the top-left corner of the screen each time. Why is this?

Having had mobile phones for the last 20 years without breaking a screen, I managed to shatter the S7 edge screen by letting it fall while out walking.
It fell screen side down on the footpath and is in bits. I had a unicorn beetle case on it but it didn't save it (despite it having raised ends that are supposed to stop the screen from coming into contact with objects on flat surfaces.
Anyhow, I think I'll take it to the samsung service center in Dundrum (I got an iPad screen replaced before by iRepair and I wans't impressed by the repair quality).
Anyone know how much this will cost?
I'm convinced that the edge screen is easier to break than a flat one, my ideal phone is a flat S7 with a screen that's the same size as the S7 edge...

Have a look on Aliexpress for replacement screens, cost about $30. Several tutorials on YouTube that show how to replace them, doesn't look like a difficult job.

Depending on where you go, S7E replacement is around €280. My replacement cost more then what I paid for the phone :(

Where did you get it done, we're you happy with the job?

There's no way you're buying a replacement screen for $30. All that would be is the glass, not the screen. From experience, trying to replace the glass is an absolute nightmare, especially if the screen is broken into a load of pieces.

Samsung service centre have quoted €230 so I'll go with them. They've asked for proof of purchase, just wondering if I should unroot the phone or just leave it as it is?

Rooting or not is none of their business.

For a S7 edge? not as bad as I would of thought.

I would unroot just to be on the safe side.

    Rooting voids warranty no?

Well this isn't being repaired under warranty, they're paying for a repair.

    Who knows, though...it is Sammy.

Anyone find the S7 slow to transfer files off the SD card to a pc?

Have a few gigs of photos but when moving them off the card just stops responding.

Rooting does not void warranty in Europe despite what amsung say. Rooting can only be used to void a warranty if it can be proven that the rooting caused the issue being repaired. http://matija.suklje.name/rooting-and-flashing-your-device-does-not-void-the-warranty-in-eu

Yeah, I know. Luckily I mainly use HTC, and they are very dev friendly. Samsung can make your life difficult.

Probably best to pop the card out first and connect directly to the PC.

Still stops responding after the first few photos. :(

Don't want to drag the thread off-topic (couldn't see a thread about the Aug 2nd event) - but is there any hope in the rumours of Samsung releasing a mini version of the S7 or any of their phones?

I feel like the only person who can't stand the giant phones of today! Still clinging to my S4 mini but it's getting a bit slow (owes me nothing). May be forced to switch to iPhone if the Samsung lads don't come good..

Got a S7 Edge yesterday. So far so good.

No FM radio it seems, but from Googling around it seems it may be possible to get one working on it. Has anyone had any success with this?
